The Anti-Inflammatory Effect of Omega-7 Against Cisplatin in Rat Model
...Show More Authors

Omega-7 (palmitoleic acid, 16:1 n7) is a monounsaturated fatty acid that is found to have several beneficial effects. Cisplatin is commonly considered for the treatment of different carcinomas. Cisplatin therapy is restricted due to its nephrotoxicity. Nephrotoxicity caused by cisplatin is thought to be associated with inflammatory reactions among other mechanisms. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the possible anti-inflammatory effect of omega-7 on cisplatin in rats. Thirty adult male Wistar Albino rats were divided randomly into five equal groups, rats of group 1 received liquid paraffin solution orally for 7 consecutive days, rats of group 2 received cisplatin (7.5 mg/kg) by single intraperiton

In the treatment of COVID-19, the antiviral medication Favipiravir has proven to be quite successful. Its metabolism is mediated by the enzymes aldehyde oxidase (AO) and xanthine oxidase (XO). This research investigated the potential drug-drug interaction between
favipiravir and amlodipine in hypertensive rabbits. Twenty local adult male rabbits (aged between 10 and 12 months and weighing between 2 and 2.5 kg) were induced with hypertension by 20 mg/kg BW of desoxycorticosterone acetate subcutaneously for three
weeks and then divided randomly into two groups of ten. The first group received a single oral dose of 40 mg/kg BW of favipiravir, while the second group received 5 mg/kg of amlodipine orally for 14 consecutive days to

Performance, adsorption and kinetic study of AgY zeolite for DBT desulfurization
...Show More Authors

This study focuses on preparing and evaluating AgY zeolite as an adsorbent for the desulfurization (ADS) of dibenzothiophene (DBT) using a model fuel. Kinetic models and adsorption isotherms were investigated for this process. The AgY zeolite characterization was studied using XRD, BET, and XRF. XRD and XRF techniques revealed that AgY zeolite was successfully prepared with 21.42% wt. Ag. The BET results showed that the pore volume of AgY zeolite was 0.3596 cm³/g and the surface area was 531 m²/g. The desulfurization study was done with an initial sulfur content of 100–460 ppm. With 93% sulfur removal from the initial concentration of 100 ppm, ultra-deep desulfurization was achieved. The effect of contact time on the adsorption

Mechanical earth model coupled with critical drawdown pressure to mitigate sand production in the Nahr Umr Formation, Southern Iraq

Sand production is one of the major challenges in the oil and gas industry. This problem exists when sand is produced along with oil and gas causing relevant damage to production equipment, thus decreasing in the productivity of wells. Therefore, a comprehensive geomechanical analysis is necessary to mitigate sand production. This study aims to assess the potential of sand production across the Nahr Umr Formation using the 1-D Mechanical Earth Model (MEM). Tech-log software coupled with well log and core data have been employed to accurately determine the possible rock geomechanical parameters, in-situ stresses and pore pressure at which rock failure might occur. Once MEM is complete, the Poro-elastic method is used to figure out th

The inhibitive action of Phenyl Thiourea (PTU) on the corrosion of mild steel in strong Hydrochloric acid, HCl, has been investigated by weight loss and potentiostatic polarization. The effect of PTU concentration, HCl concentration, and temperature on corrosion rate of mild steel were verified using 2 levels factorial design and surface response analysis through weight loss approach, while the electrochemical measurements were used to study the behavior of mild steel in 5-7N HCl at temperatures 30, 40 and 50 °C, in absence and presence of PTU. It was verified that all variables and their interaction were statistically significant. The adsorption of (PTU) is found to obey the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The effect of temperature on th

Psoriasis is a common, chronic, immune-mediated skin disease with systemic pro-inflammatory activation.  This study was designed to estimate the level of two cytokines, Interleukin-36 (IL-36) and Interleukin-10 (IL-10), in psoriasis female patients. The study was accomplished on 50 Iraqi patients with psoriasis who were referred to the consulting clinic at Al-Yarmouk Teaching Hospital during the period from November 2018 to March 2019. These patients were diagnosed under the supervision of dermatologists. For the purpose of comparison, the study included 30 healthy women as a healthy control group. Community Detection under Stochastic Block Model Likelihood Optimization via Tabu Search –Fuzzy C-Mean Method for Social Network Data

Structure of network, which is known as community detection in networks, has received a great attention in diverse topics, including social sciences, biological studies, politics, etc. There are a large number of studies and practical approaches that were designed to solve the problem of finding the structure of the network. The definition of complex network model based on clustering is a non-deterministic polynomial-time hardness (NP-hard) problem. There are no ideal techniques to define the clustering. Here, we present a statistical approach based on using the likelihood function of a Stochastic Block Model (SBM). The objective is to define the general model and select the best model with high quality. Therefor

In this study the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometry (FTIR) provides a quick, efficient and relatively inexpensive method for identifying and quantifying gypsum concentrations in the samples taken from different sites from different localities from Alexandria district southwest Baghdad. A comprehensive spectroscopic study of gypsum-calcite system was reported to give good results for the first time by using IR for analytical grades of gypsum (CaSO4.2H2O) and calcite (CaCO3) pure crystals. The spectral results were used to create a calibration curve relates the two minerals concentrations to the intensity (peaks) of FTIR absorbance and applies this calibration to specify gypsum and calcite concentrations in Iraqi gypsiferous soi

X.K.N: A Proposed Method for Data Encryption Using XOR and NOT Logical Gates with LFSR Generated Keys
...Show More Authors

In this paper, a method for data encryption was proposed using two secret keys, where the first one is a matrix of XOR's and NOT's gates (XN key), whereas the second key is a binary matrix (KEYB) key. XN and KEYB are (m*n) matrices where m is equal to n. Furthermore this paper proposed a strategy to generate secret keys (KEYBs) using the concept of the LFSR method (Linear Feedback Shift Registers) depending on a secret start point (third secret key s-key). The proposed method will be named as X.K.N. (X.K.N) is a type of symmetric encryption and it will deal with the data as a set of blocks in its preprocessing and then encrypt the binary data in a case of stream cipher.
