Effect of Tunnel Progress on the Settlement of Existing Piled Foundation
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Tunnel construction below or adjacent to piles will affect the performance and eventually the stability of piles due to ground deformation resulting in the movement of piles and changes in the axial force distribution along the piles. A three dimensional finite element analysis using PLAXIS 3D (2013) was performed to study the behaviour of a single pile and 3 x 3 piles group during the advancement of shield tunnelling in ground. The 10-node tetrahedral elements were used to model both the soil and the tunnel lining. The Hardening Soil (HS) model was used to simulate the soil structure interaction at the tunnel-soil interface. An isotropic elastic model was used for the pile, piles cap, tunnel lining and tunnel boring machine shield (TBM). Several parametric studies were attempted including the longitudinal, lateral, and vertical tunnel location relative to pile embedded in different types of soil (clay or sand). The results showed that the pile head settlement increases during the tunnelling advancement in larger values than that for ground surface settlement. A zone of influence was determined in the range of twice the tunnel diameter in the longitudinal direction (forward and backward of the pile), and transverse direction (left and right of the tunnel centreline). If the tunnel boring is kept off this zone then there is no fear of pile collapse.</p>

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of non-pharmacological pain relief methods on duration of labor stage.Methodology: A quasi-experimental study design was conducted during the period of (4th July 2018 through 24th October 2018) on non-probability of (60) women (30) of them were a control group and (30) were the study group whom admitted to Al-Elwyia Maternity Teaching Hospital suffering from labor pain. A questionnaire was used as a tool of data collection Descriptive& Inferential statistical analyses were used to analyze the data.Result: The highest percentages of study and control groups were in age group (< 20) years old, primary schools graduates, housewife, from "urban area", within low category of socioeconomic scale,

The Effect of Extraction Temperature and Solvent to Oil Ratio on Viscosity Index of Mixed-medium Lubricating Oil Fraction by Using Solvents Extraction
...Show More Authors

In this study two types of extraction solvents were used to extract the undesirable polyaromatics, the first solvent was furfural which was used today in the Iraqi refineries and the second was NMP (N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone).
The studied effecting variables of extraction are extraction temperature ranged from 70 to 110°C and solvent to oil ratio in the range from 1:1 to 4:1.
The results of this investigation show that the viscosity index of mixed-medium lubricating oil fraction increases with increasing extraction temperature and reaches 107.82 for NMP extraction at extraction temperature 110°C and solvent to oil ratio 4:1, while the viscosity index reaches to 101 for furfural extraction at the same extraction temperature and same

Effect of aluminum content on the structural, morphology, and electrical properties of Al1-xSbxthin films
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Bulk AlxSb1-x samples were prepared with different x ratios (0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9) by quenching technique. This was done throughout mixing the aluminum and antimony elements according to the proper atomic weight and put them in an evacuated quartz ampoule which then sealed and heated at 1273 K for five hours and left to cool in air. Thin films of AlxSb1-xwere prepared by using thermal evaporation under vacuum of 10-5 mbar on glass substrates at room temperature with deposition rate (10-15nm/min) at thickness of ∼ 500nm. The structures of AlxSb1-x bulk and thin films have been studied by X–ray diffraction technique. The results showed that all alloys have polycrystalline structures and the p</p> ... Show More

A study carried out in quail’s field owned by the Department of Animal production/ Collage of Agriculture / Tikrit University. For the period 14/ 5/ 2016 to 4/ 6/ 2016 in order to study the effect of adding Curcuma longa - to the diet of quails - on some productive and physiological characteristics of the Japanese quail birds bred for meat production. Using (48) quail birds which are two weeks old provided by Department of Agricultural Research. The birds were divided randomly after weighing them into three treatments; four replicate treatments for (4 bird/ replicate). The treatments as follows: (T1) control group (fed diet without any supplement), second (T2) and third (T3) groups were fed diet supplemental 4.5 and 9g Curcuma powder /

The parametric programming considered as type of sensitivity analysis. In this research concerning to study the effect of the variations on linear programming model (objective function coefficients and right hand side) on the optimal solution. To determine the parameter (θ) value (-5≤ θ ≤5).Whereas the result، the objective function equal  zero and the decision variables are non basic، when the parameter (θ = -5).The objective function value increases when the parameter (θ= 5) and the decision variables are basic، with the except of X24, X34.Whenever the parameter value increase, the objectiv

The effect of the media in forming knowledge and political awareness
...Show More Authors

Abstract The dissemination of knowledge is no longer confined to schools and universities, not even books. For nearly two centuries, the media have become prominent in disseminating knowledge and culture, in its public and particularly political aspects. After the development of the media from newspapers and magazines to the visual media, their role has increased from the dissemination of abstract information and abstract knowledge towards the process of forming new knowledge through what it publishes and broadcasts from different programs such as drama, news and talk shows. The impact of the media has changed the overall community awareness. Half a century ago the media was not so powerful and widespread. The evolution of the 1990s made

The aesthetic effect of vocal recitation in building the theatrical image

Between the duality of sound and image, the completeness of the actor’s personality at the director comes to announce the birth of the appropriate theatrical role for that character as the basic and inherent element of the artwork, within his working system in the pattern of vocal behavior as well as motor/signal behavior as he searches for aesthetic and skill proficiency at the same time.
This is done through the viewer’s relationship with the theatrical event, which the director considers as an area of active creative activity in relation to (the work of the actor) through vocal recitation and the signs it broadcasts in order to fulfill the requirements of the dramatic situation and what it requires of a visual vision drawn in t
