I am a Professor specialized in Zoology, with a particular focus on Parasitology, and a dedicated researcher with extensive experience in teaching and scientific research at the Department of Biology, College of Science, University of Baghdad, Iraq. Throughout my academic career, I have taught a wide range of courses and conducted numerous research projects in parasitology, zoology, and disease ecology.
In 2013, I served as a Visiting Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division of Biological Sciences and the School of Natural Resources at the University of Missouri-Columbia, USA. During this period, I was actively engaged in research focusing on Molecular Ecology and Disease Ecology.
In August 2017, I rejoined the faculty of the Department of Biology at the University of Baghdad as a Professor, where I continue to contribute to academic teaching, research, and the advancement of parasitological sciences.
My research portfolio includes extensive studies on the taxonomy, morphology, genetic diversity, and epidemiology of parasites, as well as the ecological dynamics of parasitic diseases. I have published numerous peer-reviewed articles addressing topics such as:
- The prevalence and distribution of gastrointestinal parasites in human and animal populations
- Molecular characterization and phylogenetic analysis of parasitic species
- Histopathological effects of parasitic infections on host tissues
- The role of environmental and ecological factors in the transmission and maintenance of parasitic diseases
- Disease ecology of vector-borne parasites, including Leishmania species
My work integrates field studies, molecular techniques, and ecological modeling to better understand parasite-host interactions and disease dynamics. These contributions are widely recognized and accessible through my Google Scholar profile, reflecting a sustained commitment to advancing knowledge in parasitology and disease ecology.
