Hepatoprotective effect of (Arachis hypogeaL.) peanut skin extracts on CCl4 induced liver damage in mice
...Show More Authors

This study was carried out to evaluate the hepato-protective property of (Arachis hypogea L.) peanut skin extracts in CCl4 induced hepatotoxicity in mice. The antioxidant activity was measured utilizing 2, 2-diphenyl-1-1 picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging capacity. The results showed that the methanolic extract was the highest free radical scavenging activity than the aqueous extract with values (92.34 ± 0.45 and 87.62 ± 0.44) respectively in 12 mg/mL compared to 89.61 ± 0.34 for Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and 93.25 ± 0.06 for vitamin C, which means that the methanolic extract of peanut skin is superior to BHT. Furthermore, the total phenolic content was analyzed by using Folin-Ciocalteu method, the amount of total phenol in aqueous extract was15.32 ± 0.45, 39.29 ± 0.64 and 56.63 ± 1.03 mg/g in 2, 6 and 10 mg/ml respectively, while the methanolic extract was 47.08 ± 0.56, 68.40 ± 1.18 and 85.35 ± 0.62 mg/g respectively in the same concentrations. The hepato-protective effect of peanut skin extract was evaluated in CCl4 induced hepato-toxicity. The experiment was conducted in two methods: pre-treatment groups and post-treatment groups. Mice were treated with 50 and 100 mg/kg of aqueous and methanolic peanut skin extracts for 35 days before being damaged by CCl4 (pre-treatment group), and the other groups (post-treatment groups) which the mice were injected with CCl4 and received 50 and 100 mg/kg of aqueous and methanolic peanut skin extracts for 35 days. Biochemical studies show that there is decrease in the levels of serum ALT, AST, ALP, MDA and increases in the levels of SOD with significant differences (p <0.01) when compared with the CCl4 treated group. The histo pathological examination of liver obtained from mice with administrated intraperitoneally 3 ml/kg CCl4 showed histopathological changes in the liver represented in fatty changes of excessive hepatocyte accumulation of fatty material, while when treated with 100 mg/kg of peanut extract revealed look like normal structure appearance of hepatic tissue and normal structure appearance but with few apoptotic cells.

Potentiality of LPS in Ameliorating the Histopathological Responses in Visceral Leishmaniasis‐Infected Mice
...Show More Authors
Objective

Visceral leishmaniasis is the second most fatal parasite illness worldwide, and it is the most severe type of leishmaniasis. LPS is a crucial chemical compound on the bacterial cell wall that the host recognizes and uses to launch an immune response to eliminate invasive infections.

Materials and Methods

Four concentrations of LPS were used to treat infected mice with visceral leishmaniasis (20, 40, 60, and 80 ng/mL). Differential cell count and phagocytic index tests were done, then the liver and spleen wer

Estimation of amino acid concentrations in the kidney of albino mice embryo
...Show More Authors

Amino acids are the basic building block for peptides and proteins. They are raw materials for generating hormones, purines, pyrimidines and vitamins. Amino acids also provide the body with energy through their carbon structures. The study analyzed the amino acid in the kidneys of the albino mice embryo at 17 and 19 gestation days, using a high-performance liquid chromatography device (HPLC). Samples were obtained after removing them from the embryo and placing them in an ice bath to prevent cell lysis and acid loss. The study found 18 amino acids in the kidneys of the albino mice embryo. They are Asparagine (Asn), Glutamine (Glu), Serine (Ser), Glycine (Gly), Threonine (Thr), Histidine (His), Cysteine (Cys), Alanine (Ala), Proline

Possible protective effects of tirzepatide on polycystic ovary syndrome in female rat model induced by testosterone propionate in comparison to metformin
...Show More Authors

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a complex endocrine–metabolic disorder characterized by hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction, insulin resistance, and chronic inflammation resulting in reproductive and metabolic complications. Traditional metformin therapy improves insulin sensitivity, while newer dual incretin agonists, such as tirzepatide, may offer broader metabolic and ovarian protection. The objective of this study is to investigate whether tirzepatide could alter hormonal parameters, metabolism, inflammation, and histopathology of a testosterone propionate–induced PCOS rat model compared with metformin. Thirty prepubertal female Wistar rats were divided into five groups (n = 6). PCOS was induced by testosterone propionate (1

Role of Topical Ritodrine Hydrochloride in Experimentally Induced Hypertrophic Scar in Rabbits
...Show More Authors

Hypertrophic scars are fibroproliferative illnesses caused by improper wound healing, during that, excessive inflammation, angiogenesis, and differentiated human dermal fibroblast (HDF ) function contribute to scarring, whereas hyperpigmentation negatively affects scar quality. Over 100 million patients heal with a scar every year. To investigate the role of the beta 2 adrenergic receptor (β2AR); Ritodrine, in wound scarring, the ability of beta 2 adrenergic receptor agonist (β2ARag) to alter HDF differentiation and function, wound inflammation, angiogenesis, and wound scarring was explored in HDFs, zebrafish, chick chorioallantoic membrane assay (CAM), and a porcine skin wound model, respectively. A study identify a β2AR-mediated m

Hormonal Changes in a Sample of Iraqi Women and their Relationship to Liver Dysfunction
...Show More Authors

There are numerous bidirectional interactions between the reproductive system and the liver. Sex steroids regulate metabolic health through signaling effects in both peripheral and central metabolic tissues, including adipose tissue, liver, skeletal muscle, and brain, and have a role in the etiology of structural and functional liver diseases. Blood samples were obtained from 90 healthy women (control group) and 90 women that have hormonal changes (patients’ group). The levels of reproductive hormones (follicle stimulation hormone/FSH, luteinizing hormone/LH, estradiol/E2, progesterone/P4) were measured by using fully automated Cobas E411, whereas those of liver enzymes (alanine transaminase /ALT, aspartate aminotransferase/AST, a
