Planning sustainable environmental neighborhoods is a step towards the direction of sustainable cities
...Show More Authors
Abstract
The sustainable environmental neighborhoods is sustainable development of neighborhoods that include considerations related to transport, density, urban forms, and environmental buildings and especially those related to social and functional integration, and civil society participation, This standard, which did not attract the attention of specialists in the 1990s, has today become a center of attention for all those interested in urbanism and sustainability. The problem of the research is the existence of urban problems in residential neighborhoods that lead to lack of sustainability in the city, and the research aims to explain the role and importance of environmental sustainability of residential neighborhoods in achieving city sustainability assuming that environmental sustainability of residential neighborhoods leads to the sustainability of the city, and as a general methodology for the research, the descriptive analytical method was adopted. The research included sustainable environmental neighborhoods, neighborhood definition, and definition of sustainable neighborhoods, characteristics of sustainable neighborhoods, types of sustainable neighborhoods, goals and standards for sustainable neighborhoods, Sweden’s experience, and the research reached the following main conclusions:

1 - Sustainable environmental neighborhoods are modern neighborhoods that appeared most often in industrial sites that suffer from pollution to give a positive image of these sites to be new neighborhoods that enjoy social, participatory, economic and environmental quality and they are urban poles characterized by density and interconnection and respond to the principle of sustainability in terms of general quality.

2 - The achievement of sustainable neighborhoods is one of the stages towards achieving sustainable cities because it is a test of the principles and directions before achieving the sustainable city.

3 - There are common characteristics of sustainable neighborhoods, including density, functional integration, sustainable transportation, the high quality of the perimeter, intergenerational and social inclusion, prosperity, ease of communication, and control of values and community participation.

Synthesis, characterization, theoretical study and biological evaluation of Schiff base and their La(III), Ce(IV) and UO2(II) complexes
...Show More Authors

ABSTRACT. A new three metal complexes of La(III), Ce(IV) and UO2(II) ions have been synthesized based on a Schiff base derived from the condensation of L-histidine and anisaldehyde. All prepared compounds were characterized by different spectroscopic techniques and Density-functional theory (DFT) calculations. The complexes were proposed to have an octahedral structure based on the investigated results. The optimized shape, numbering system, and dipole moment vector of Ligand and La, Ce, and UO2 (1:1) chelates were investigated. The Schiff base ligand and complexes exhibit moderate action against all of the bacteria tested, with P. aeruginosa, Klebsiella sp., and E. faecalis respectively being the order of inhibition.

Catalytic Hydrogenation of p-Chloronitrobenzene to p-Chloroaniline Mediated by γ-Mo2N
...Show More Authors

Promoting the production of industrially important aromatic chloroamines over transition-metal nitrides catalysts has emerged as a prominent theme in catalysis. This contribution provides an insight into the reduction mechanism of p-chloronitrobenzene (p-CNB) to p-chloroaniline (p-CAN) over the γ-Mo2N(111) surface by means of density functional theory calculations. The adsorption energies of various molecularly adsorbed modes of p-CNB were computed. Our findings display that, p-CNB prefers to be adsorbed over two distinct adsorption sites, namely, Mo-hollow face-centered cubic (fcc) and N-hollow hexagonal close-packed (hcp) sites with adsorption energies of −32.1 and −38.5 kcal/mol, respectively. We establish that the activation of nit

Removal of Malachite Green from Aqueous Solution using Ficus Benjamina Activated Carbon-Nonmetal Oxide synthesized by pyro Carbonic Acid Microwave
...Show More Authors

Activated carbon derived from Ficus Binjamina agro-waste synthesized by pyro carbonic acid microwave method and treated with silicon oxide (SiO2) was used to enhance the adsorption capability of the malachite green (MG) dye. Three factors of concentration of dye, time of mixing, and the amount of activated carbon with four levels were used to investigate their effect on the MG removal efficiency. The results show that 0.4 g/L dosage, 80 mg/L dye concentration, and 40 min adsorption duration were found as an optimum conditions for 99.13% removal efficiency. The results also reveal that Freundlich isotherm and the pseudo-second-order kinetic models were the best models to describe the equilibrium adsorption data.

Fourteen Years of Organic Amendments Enhance Soil Organic Carbon in Semiarid Iraqi Soils: FTIR Spectroscopy, PLS Modelling and RothC Simulations
...Show More Authors

Long-term organic amendments are a key strategy to build soil organic carbon (SOC) stocks in semiarid agroecosystems, where low biomass inputs and calcareous parent material constrain carbon accumulation. This 14-year field experiment in central Iraq (2000–2014) evaluated how a gradient of organic matter (OM) additions (0, 1, 2.5, 5, 10, and 20%) affects SOC dynamics, nutrient availability, and soil organic matter composition in clay-dominated, semiarid soils. Surface and subsurface samples (0–30, 30–60, and 60–90 cm) were analysed for SOC, nutrients, and mid-infrared Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, which were then integrated with Partial Least Squares (PLS) regression and RothC simulations. Moderate OM inputs (5
