Influence of Temperature on Mechanical Properties of Asphalt Concrete Mixture

Asphalt binder is a thermoplastic material that conducts as an elastic solid at lower service temperatures or throughout fast loading rate. At a high temperature or slow rate of loading, asphalt binder conducts as a different liquid. The classical duplication generates a required to assess the mechanical properties of asphalt concrete at the anticipated service temperature to reduce the stress cracking, which happens at lower temperatures, fatigue, and the plastic deformation at higher temperatures (rutting). In this study, an achievement was made to assess the effect of temperature on the mechanical characteristics of asphalt concrete mixes. A total of 132 asphalt concrete samples were attended utilizing two asphalt cement grades (40-50) and (60-70), and one aggregate gradation (type III A for wearing course) SCRB (R/9, 2003). The specimens were then tested at five different temperatures represented by 5, 15, 25, 40, and 60̊C to estimate their mechanical characteristics, including resilient modulus (Mr), permanent deformation, and fatigue features as Marshall features. The average resilient modulus (Mr), which belongs to a temperature of 5°C, was 328036 psi revealing an approximate loss of 88% of its strength in resilient modulus when there is an increase in temperature over 60°C. Meanwhile, there is an increase in the permanent deformation accumulation rate (slope value) of about three folds as the temperature changes from (5- 60) °C whereas the fatigue life reduces 32 % with the rise in temperature from (5-25) °C.

A study of the effect of acid immersion on some physical properties of ( Epoxy – MgO) composites

Thiophosgene Detection by Ag-Decorated AlN Nanotube: A Mechanical Quantum Survey

The density functional B3LYP is used to investigate the effect of decorating the silver (Ag) atom on the sensing capability of an AlN nanotube (AlN-NT) in detecting thiophosgene (TP). There is a weak interaction between the pristine AlN-NT and TP with the sensing response (SR) of approximately 9.4. Decoration of the Ag atom into the structure of AlN-NT causes the adsorption energy of TP to decrease from − 6.2 to − 22.5 kcal/mol. Also, the corresponding SR increases significantly to 100.5. Moreover, the recovery time when TP is desorbed from the surface of the Ag-decorated AlN-NT (Ag@AlN-NT) is short, i.e., 24.9 s. The results show that Ag@AlN-NT can selectively detect TP among other gases, such as N2, O2, CO2, CO, and H2O.

Study of Optical Properties of HgTe Films

Thin films of HgTe of thickness 1μm were deposited on NaCl crystal by thermal evaporation technique at room temperature under vacuum about 4×10-5torr as well as investiagtion in the optical porperties included (absorption coefficient , energy gap) of HgTe films and The optical measurements showed that HgTe film has direct energy gap equal to 0.05 eV. A study of the effect of silica particles addition on some physical properties of PVC as a packaging material

with the Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) and samples have been prepared
using film casting technique. The results have been analyzed and
compared for PVC samples with (1 wt%, 3 wt%, 5 wt% and 10 wt%)
SiO2 micro filler. Mechanical characteristics such as tensile strength,
elongation at break and Young`s modulus were measured for all the
samples, where the tensile strength was increased from 8.39 Mpa for
purified PVC to 16 Mpa for 3% SiO2/PVC composite. Also, thermal
conductivity measurement values illustrated that composite materials
have a good thermal insulation at 10 wt. %, thermal conductivity was
decreased from 0.1684 W/m.
