This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of intestinal helminth infections in humans and detect Toxocara spp. in cats, with a focus on assessing the impact of age and gender on infection rates. Traditional diagnostic methods have historically limited the accurate identification of helminth infections in humans. Analysis of 450 human stool samples revealed an overall helminth infection rate of 5.7% using conventional techniques. The specific infection rates were 0.4% for Strongyloides stercoralis, 0.6% for Schistosoma mansoni, 1.7% for Hymenolepis nana, and 2.8% for Ascaris lumbricoides. Notably, no infections were recorded in the 30–39 and ≥40-year age groups, while the highest infection rate (16.3%, P≤0.01) was observed in individuals aged 20–29 years. With respect to gender, males exhibited a significantly higher (P≤0.01) infection rate (7.5%) compared to females (4%). Additionally, human sera were tested serologically using indirect ELISA for IgG antibodies, with a positivity rate of 10.4%. Age-wise, no positive cases were recorded in the 20–29 year group, while positivity rates of 8% and 24% were found in the 30–39 and >40 year groups, respectively, showing a significant difference (P≤0.01). In terms of gender, females had a significantly higher (P≤0.01) seroprevalence (15.2%) than males (6%). In domestic and stray cats, the overall prevalence of Toxocara spp. was 12%, with a significantly higher (P≤0.01) infection rate in kittens compared to adult cats. This study revealed notable prevalence of intestinal helminths in humans and Toxocara spp. in cats, with age and gender influencing infection rates. The findings emphasize the need for improved parasite control and public health measures to reduce zoonotic risks.
The dangerous and potentially blinding condition known as Acanthamoeba keratitis is caused by free-living amoebae of the genus Acanthamoeba. The prevalence of AIDS patients and contact lens wearers has increased in recent years, making cannaeba infections more significant. It's interesting to note that, depending on the parasite, host, and environmental conditions, the pathways linked to Acanthamoeba pathogenesis are frequently extremely complex. Notwithstanding our progress in antibiotic therapy and supportive care, the prevalence of Acanthamoeba keratitis has not decreased
Ten isolates were collected from different clinical sources from laboratory in medicine century . These isolates were belonging to the genus Salmonella depending on morphological and biochemical tests . The antibiotic scussptibility tests against 10 antibiotics were examined , and it was found that the 60% isolates have multiple resistant to antibiotic ,(70%) of isolates were resistant to ampicillin,(50%) were resistant to augmentin ,(40%) were resistant to ceftriaxone ,(20%) were resistant to cefotaxime and (10%) were resistant to ciprofloxacin and tetracycline while all isolates showed sensitivity to piperacillin, imipenem, amikacin and erythromycin .The ability of Salmonela isolates to produce ?-lactamase enzymes were tested usin

Subjects,Materials and Methods:The presence of the parasite has been diagnosed with 58 patients withgingivitisand 58 healthy persons during the period of the study(April and May 2015) by taken two swabs for each one, microscopic examination was done using saline wet mount method and stained method. Age, sex and brushing teeth habit were in a count. Statistical analysis was done by SPSS program. Results:Gingivitis disease was observed in 5

The present investigation was carried out on one hundred currency notes of all the denominations (50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000RY), obtained from different occupational mainly bus drivers, hawker street, vegetable vendor, restaurants and butchers and fish seller groups in Taiz city,Yemen. Identification and characterization revealed active participation of the following species of organisms in the ascending order of percentage as E. coli(50.28 %),Staphylococci aureus(14.04 %), Klebsiellaspp(4.39 %),proteus(4.39 %), salmonella(1.25 %), shigella(0.72 %), Coagulase negative staphylococcus(0.60 %), pseudomonas(0.50 %),

This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of JAK2V617F mutation and serum levels ofalkaline phophatase (ALP) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in Ph+ CML Iraqi patients treated with imatinib.Blood samples were collected from 42 Ph+ CML patients who have been received at least six month therapywith imatinib. DNA was extracted, and real time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was used for JAK2V617Fdetection. Serum levels of A

All cotton swabs are cultured initially on blood agar and MacConkey agar and subjected for standard bacteriological procedures for bacteriological diagnosis. Twenty samples out of sixty are identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa by conventional methods. The results of antibiotic susceptibility test illustrate that the antibiotics resistance rate of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates is as follows:100% (2020) for ceftriaxone, cefepime and carbencillin, 70% (14/20) for amikacin, 65%(13/20) for tobramycin, ceftazidim and gentamycin,
