Anti-Mullerian Hormone and Follicle Stimulating Hormone as Markers of Ovarian Agingin a Sample of Iraqi Women
...Show More Authors

One-hundred and twenty Iraqi women (60 single women and 60 married women) with age ranges from (17-49) years have been involved in this study to estimate the levels of anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) as markers of ovarian aging. The descriptive data [age, body mass index (BMI), age at menarche, duration of menarche] have been recorded. Blood samples were collected from the studied women to determine the levels of AMH and FSH. The results revealed non-significant (p>0.05) differences in levels of AMH and FSH between single women and married women. A significant negative correlation was observed between AMH levels and age in single women (r=-0.519, p<0.05) and married women (r=-0.433, p<0.05). A non-significant correlation was found between AMH levels and BMI in single women, while a significantnegative correlation was found in married women (r=-0.311,p<0.05). A non-significant correlation was observed between AMH levels and age of menarche in the two groups, whilea significant negative correlation was observed between AMH levels and duration of menarche in single women (r= -0.520, p<0.05) and married women (r= -0.396, p<0.05). The results showed a significant positive correlation between FSH levels and age in single women (r= 0.525, p<0.05) and married women (r= 0.346, p<0.05),while asignificant positive correlation was found with BMI (r= 0.315, p<0.05) in single women only. Non-significant correlation was found with age at menarche in studied women, whilea significant positive correlation was noticed with duration of menarche in single women (r= 0.529, p>0.05) and married women (r= 0.339, p>0.05). The correlation between AMH and FSH levels in studied women revealed a significant negative correlation in single women (r=-0.429, p<0.05), while a non-significant correlation was found in married women. In single and married women, a significant (p<0.05) decrease was found in AMH levels; while a significant (p<0.05) increase was found in FSH levels in (≥40 years) age category compared with the other age categories. In single women, non-significant (p>0.05) differences were found in AMH levels among the BMI categories, while a significant (p<0.05) decrease was found in FSH levels in (18.5-24.9 kg/m2) BMI category compared with other BMI categories. In married women, non-significant (p>0.05) differences were found in AMH and FSH levels between the BMI categories. In conclusion, this study demonstrated the importance of measurement of AMH and FSH as a good marker of ovarian aging in Iraqi women.

Ghrelin and Obestatin Levels as a Novel Marker in Iraqi Obese Children
...Show More Authors

Obesity is an escalating health problem in developing countries. One to ten children worldwide are overweight in a report showed by the International Obesity Task Force. Ghrelin, orexigenic peptide, has 28 amino acids, it is considered the greatest remarkable promotion in the last two decades for understanding the physiological changes of action regulating food intake and hunger. Obestatin is a 23-amino acid peptide nearly connected to ghrelin that secures from substitutio

Panic Attacks Over COVID 19 : A Survey Study on An Iraqi University Sample
...Show More Authors

Abstract

The present paper attempts to detect the level of (COVID-19) pandemic panic attacks among university students, according to gender and stage variables.

To achieve this objective, the present paper adopts the scale set up by (Fathallah et al., 2021), which has been applied electronically to a previous cross-cultural sample consisting of (2285) participants from Arab countries, including Iraq. The scale includes, in its final form, (69) optional items distributed on (6) dimensions:  physical symptoms (13) items, psychological and emotional symptoms (12) items, cognitive and mental symptoms (11) items, social symptoms (8) items, general symptoms (13) items and daily living practices (12) items

Evaluation of Interleukin-9 Serum Level and Gene Polymorphism in A Sample of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in Iraqi Female's Patients.
...Show More Authors

Background Immunological gene and serum level for interleukin- 9 rs 17317275 have been established to have linked to predisposition systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and its severity. SLE is a severe, systemic autoimmune disease characterized by autoantibody generation, complement activation, and immune complex deposition. In the pathophysiology of SLE, cytokines have a pleiotropic function. Recently, IL-9 was discovered to mediate strong anti-inflammatory effects in numerous cells or experimental autoimmune models. Objective This study aimed to determine the role of age, IL-9 serum level and genetic polymorphism, C-reactive protein (CRP), Anti-nuclear antibody (ANA) and Anti- double-stranded DNA (anti-dsDNA) to recognize SLE pathogenesis.

Effect of HPV infection on the expression of fibronectin in a group of Iraqi women with cervical carcinoma
...Show More Authors

: Cervical malignancy positioned as the fourth most prevalent disease among women around the world. HPVs especially HPV16 are the causative agent of cervical cancer, responsible of about 5% of all human cancers worldwide. Some researchers found that the fibronectin is repressed by the papillomavirus (HPV) type 16 E7 oncoprotein in both HPV-positive nontumorigenic and tumorigenic cell lines, while others found that the HPV oncoprotein increase the levels of fibronectin. The aim is to study the effect of HPV infection on Fibronectin expression and their correlation onthe development of Cervicalcancinoma. The current retrospective study enrolled paraffinized blocks of two groups. The research included 30 cervical carcinomatous tissues as well

Immunohistochemical expression of ICAM-1 and Cortactin as cell adhesive molecule and invasive markers in Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma of the head and neck region (A comparative study)
...Show More Authors

Background: Lymphomas are a group of diseases caused by malignant lymphocytes that accumulate in lymph nodes and cause the characteristic clinical features of lymphadenopathy. Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) (CD54) is a transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily of adhesion molecules. Cortactin was first identified as one of the major substrates for src kinase. because it localized to Cortical actin structures, The aims of this study was to evaluate and compare the immunohistochemical of ICAM-1 expression as cell adhesion molecule marker and Cortactin expression as invasive marker. Material and Methods: This study was performed on (68) formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded blocks, histopathologically diagn

The effect of anti-oxidant agents as neutralizers of bleaching agents on dentin bond strength
...Show More Authors

Background: Reduction in bond strength when bonding was done immediately after intracoronal bleaching procedure has been recognized. The purpose of this study is to assess the effect of antioxidants (10% sodium ascorbate (SA), 0.1M thiourea and7% sodium bicarbonate (SB)) on reversing bonding strength of composite resin to bleached dentin. Materials and method: Sixty upper 1st premolar teeth, were selected, the crowns of the teeth were embedded in acrylic resin blocks exposing a flat dentin from the buccal surface, then divided into 6 groups (10 samples each). Bleaching for the experimental groups was performed using 35% hydrogen peroxide bleaching gel (pola–office).Group A (Negative
