...Show More Authors

Objectives: This research aims to study the artificial intelligence (AI) skills re-quired by employees in information institutions, specifically university libraries in Iraq, to enhance their services and align with modern technological advancements. It highlights the gap between the current knowledge of employees in Al technologies and their practical applications to improve the services of information institutions. Methodology: The research adopted a descriptive survey method, targeting em- ployees in three prestigious university libraries in Baghdad: the Central Library of the University of Baghdad, the Central Library and House of Books of Al-Mustansiriyah University, and the Central Library of the Iraqi University. A sample of (160) employ-ees was selected using questionnaires, observations, and interviews for data collection. The collected data were presented in tables and statistically analyzed using percentage and weighted averages. Conclusions: The study revealed several key conclusions, notably the significant lack of training and qualification among employees, as well as insufficient financial and technical support, which hinders the effective use of Al applications in these libraries. Recommendations: The research offers several recommendations to develop em- ployees' skills and enhance the use of Al in the work environment. These include en-rolling employees in workshops and training courses on the latest Al applications and advocating for the provision of necessary resources to improve the performance and services of information institutions.

Taxonomy of Memory Usage in Swarm Intelligence-Based Metaheuristics
...Show More Authors

Metaheuristics under the swarm intelligence (SI) class have proven to be efficient and have become popular methods for solving different optimization problems. Based on the usage of memory, metaheuristics can be classified into algorithms with memory and without memory (memory-less). The absence of memory in some metaheuristics will lead to the loss of the information gained in previous iterations. The metaheuristics tend to divert from promising areas of solutions search spaces which will lead to non-optimal solutions. This paper aims to review memory usage and its effect on the performance of the main SI-based metaheuristics. Investigation has been performed on SI metaheuristics, memory usage and memory-less metaheuristics, memory char
