The role of some antioxidants in reducing oxidative stress in female hypothyroidism patients with type II diabetes: a randomized controlled clinical trial
...Show More Authors

Background: Hypothyroidism and type 2 diabetes are common conditions worldwide, with hypothyroidism affecting 4–10% of the population and type 2 diabetes affecting approximately 10% of adults globally. The increasing co-occurrence of these two conditions may contribute to increased oxidative stress and associated complications. Low levels of antioxidants are linked to hypothyroidism with type II diabetes because of the growth and production of free radicals, which makes patients more susceptible to oxidative stress. Objective: It was to assess how low antioxidants may exacerbate the pathogenic state of type 2 diabetic hypothyroid patients. Methods: 140 hypothyroid individuals with type 2 diabetes, ages 25 to 60, were assigned to take supplements every day with either intervention group before Eltroxin,( n = 50) (intervention group after Eltroxin, n=50) ( placebo group, n=40) for twelve weeks, take two capsules of vitamin E (268 mg, 400 IU), and one pill of selenium (200 mcg). Serum malondialdehyde (MDA), total antioxidant status (TAS), glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), and fasting serum glucose (FSG) were measured using laboratory kits. Meanwhile, thyroid hormones were measured using (ELISA) technique. Estimates of selenium) Se) and vitamin E were obtained using atomic absorption spectroscopy and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), respectively. Results: The levels of MDA, TAS, thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4), FSG, HbA1c, and oxidative stress index (OSI) did not differ significantly (p>0.05) between the patient group and placebo participants, according to this study. Vit E and Se levels in the placebo group are not markedly distinct from those in the sick team (p>0.05). Increased degrees of MDA, TAS, OSI, and TSH noticeably (p<0.05) were observed in the placebo group. After taking the medicine, the T4 level was lower noticeably (p<0.05 than that of the patients after taking the medicine. Conclusion: Individuals with hypothyroidism with type 2 diabetes may prevent hypothyroidism by consuming dietary supplements containing antioxidants, which reduce oxidative stress and promote overall health. A typical clinical presentation of molluscum contagiosum in Iraqi patients;clinical descriptive study
...Show More Authors

Background Molluscum contagiosum is skin disease caused by the molluscum contagiosum virus (MCV) usually causing one or more small dome shaped umbilicated papules with symptoms that maybe self-resolve. MCV was once a disease primarily of children, but it has evolved to become a sexually transmitted disease in adults. It is believed to be a member of the pox virus family. In addition to the classic presentation of the disease; it can also come in different clinical forms that simulate large number of dermatolological disease.
Objective: To study different clinical forms of Molluscum contagiosum presentation in different age groups of Iraqi patients.
Method:This clinical descriptive study was performed in the outpatient department of

The etiological role of Chlamydia pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections in systemic lupus erythematosus of iraqi female patients
...Show More Authors

Recently, Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) was considered as one of the autoimmune diseases that the genetic and environmental factors contributed in the disease etiological profile. According to the environmental factors, infectious agents have been concluded to have a role in the etiology and pathogenesis of SLE. Chlamydia pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae are among these infectious agents that have been suggested to be involved in the etiology of SLE. Accordingly, the current study was designed to assess the anti-C. pneumoniae and anti-M. pneumoniae IgG antibody status by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in the sera of 64 Iraqi SLE females' patients and 32 Iraqi healthy females as controls. The patients' group were distribu

Serum Level Profile and Pharmacokinetic Parameters of Single Oral Dose of Metronidazole in Type II Diabetic Patients
...Show More Authors

Many pathophysiological processes can affect the pharmacokinetic properties of drugs in people with diabetes. The present study was deigned to evaluate the influence of diabetes mellitus (DM) on the pharmacokinetic parameters of metronidazole administered as single oral dose. Twelve healthy volunteers and twelve diabetic patients were enrolled in the present study. On day 1, a single oral dose of metronidazole 500 mg was administered orally to all participants at 9:00 am after a 10-hour fasting. Over the following 48 hours, blood samples were taken at frequent intervals and serum metronidazole concentrations were measured by a high-performance liquid chromatography method for assessment of pharmacokinetics of metronidazole. The data

Background: Diabetic mellitus type ? is a metabolic disorder of diverse etiological factors, characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from an absolute deficiency of insulin affected childhood and adolescent. Some of these patients seek an orthodontic care .The orthodontist who is treating these medically compromised patients should have a working knowledge of the multitude of medically complex problems. This information will support and enable for delivery of high standards of dental care in general and orthodontic care in particular. The aim of this study was to analyze serum IgG levels and salivary secretory IgA (sIgA) levels in human dentine extract (HDE) before (T0) and 6 months after (T6) orthodontic treatment and to correlate anti-HDE
