Afamin, which is a human plasma glycoprotein, a putative multifunctional transporter of hydrophobic molecules and a marker for metabolic syndrome. Afamin concentration have been proposed to have a significant role as a predictor of metabolic disorders. Since NAFLD is associated with metabolic risk factors, e.g., dyslipidemia, insulin resistance and visceral obesity, it is considered as the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome. The objective of this study is to determine Afamin levels in hypothyroid patients with and without fatty liver disease and compare the results with controls. Also to study the relationship of Afamin level with the Anthropometric and Clinical Features (Age, Gender, BMI and Duration of Hypothyroidism) , Serum Thyroid Hormones (T3, T4 and TSH ), Lipid profile(Serum Cholesterol, TG and HDL), Liver Enzymes (GOT , GPT and ALP ) Levels , Renal Function Tests (blood Urea and serum Creatinine), Glycemic Parameters (F.B.S and HbA1c levels), Serum Hematological Parameters (PCV, MCV and WBC) and Serum Protein Parameters (Total Protein, serum albumin and serum Ferritin). Ninety individuals participated in this study and classified into three groups: G1: Hypothyroidism with fatty liver disease patients, G2: Hypothyroidism without fatty liver disease patients and G3: control subjects. All study cases were chosen from the Specialized Center in Endocrinology and Diabetes in alrisafa side / Baghdad. The age ranges of G1, G2 and G3 were (32-64), (23-67) and (24-40) years, respectively. Gender distribution shows increase in female to male ratio in all the studied groups. Results demonstrated the mean values of serum Afamin in G1 (277.688±157.725 ng/ml) and G2 (337.020±231.095 ng/ml) were very significantly higher (P=0.0001) than the mean serum Afamin in G3 (4.030±2.796 ng/ml), While the mean value of serum Afamin in G1 (277.688±157.725 ng/ml) was slightly lower than in G2 (337.020±231.095 ng/ml). The Receiving Operating Characteristic (ROC) curves analysis for serum Afamin used as a test to diagnose subjects into cases and control groups was done, and a determination of the “cut-off value” which have optimum sensitivity and specificity to diagnose disease was performed.
The synthesis of nanoparticles (GNPs) from the reduction of HAuCl4 .3H2O by aluminum metal was obtained in aqueous solution with the use of Arabic gum as a stabilizing agent. The GNPs were characterized by TEM, AFM and Zeta potential spectroscopy. The reduction process was monitored over time by measuring ultraviolet spectra at a range of λ 520-525 nm. Also the color changes from yellow to ruby red, shape and size of GNP was studied by TEM. Shape was spherical and the size of particles was (12-17.5) nm. The best results were obtained at pH 6.

The mucilage from the seeds of Lallemantia royleana family Labiatae was extracted and subjected to preformulation study for evaluation of its suitability for use as suspending agent. Furosemide suspensions were prepared using (1.5% w/v) of the extracted Lallemantia royleana mucilage, (1.5% w/v) chitosan and (0.35% w/v) xanthan gum. The mucilage was white in color and the average yield of dried mucilage obtained from L.royleana nutlets was 14 % w/w of the seeds used. It is sparingly soluble in water but swells in contact with it, giving a highly viscous solution. It is slightly acidic to neutral. Alpha-tocopherol acetate is one of the most important vitamin E derivatives,that were used as antioxidants. Adsorbents like kaolin, magnesium carbonate, and microcrystalline cellulose were used successfully to incorporate oily alpha-tocopherol acetate into an acceptable powder dosage form. The results revealed that microcrystalline cellulose as an adsorbents gave the best results with 50% loading capacity at time, 8 minutes before and after incubation period (3 months at 30C°), while kaolin and magnesium carbonate have been shown a significant difference before and after incubation. The aim of the currnet study to examine the effect of subclinical hypothyroidism (SCH) in diabetic patients on coagulation parameters. This retrospective case–control study involves 130 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), divided into 65 T2DM with newly diagnosed SCH and 65 euthyroid (EUT) T2DM patients without SCH. Fibrinogen (FIB) was significantly higher in SCH (508.2 ± 63.0 mg/dL) than EUT (428.1 ± 44.8 mg/dL). In the SCH patients, FIB correlated with several parameters, such as age (β = 0.396), body mass index (β = 0.578), glycated hemoglobin (β = 0.281), and activated partial thromboplastin time (β = 0.276). In conclusion SCH in DM patients appears to increase the magnitude of coagulopathy.
