Evaluation of the Performance of Kernel Non-parametric Regression and Ordinary Least Squares Regression
...Show More Authors

Researchers need to understand the differences between parametric and nonparametric regression models and how they work with available information about the relationship between response and explanatory variables and the distribution of random errors. This paper proposes a new nonparametric regression function for the kernel and employs it with the Nadaraya-Watson kernel estimator method and the Gaussian kernel function. The proposed kernel function (AMS) is then compared to the Gaussian kernel and the traditional parametric method, the ordinary least squares method (OLS). The objective of this study is to examine the effectiveness of nonparametric regression and identify the best-performing model when employing the Nadaraya-Watson kernel estimator method with the proposed kernel function (AMS), the Gaussian kernel, and the ordinary least squares (OLS) method. Additionally, it determines which method yields the most accurate results when analyzing nonparametric regression models and provides valuable insights for practitioners looking to apply these techniques in real-world scenarios. However, criteria such as generalized cross-validation (GCV), mean square error (MSE), and coefficient determination are used to select the most efficient estimated model. Simulated data was used to evaluate the performance and efficiency of estimators using different sample sizes. The results favorable the simulation illustrate that the Nadaraya-Watson kernel estimator using the proposed kernel function (AMS) exhibited favorable and superior performance compared to other methods. The coefficients of determination indicate that the highest values attained were 98%, 99%, and 99%. The proposed function (AMS) yielded the lowest MSE and GCV values across all samples. Therefore, this suggests that the model can generate precise predictions and enhance the performance of the focused data.

Selection of OptimumRadiant Barrier System (RBS) Location in Double Skin Ventilated Roofs
...Show More Authors

Double skin ventilated roof is one of the important passive cooling techniques that aims to reduce solar heat gain through roofs by reducing both the conduction and convection heat transfer from the roof to the ceiling of buildings. On the other hand, radiant barrier system (RBS) is very powerful in blocking the radiation heat transfer between the two skins. In this research, the effect of placing a thin layer of aluminium foil at different locations on the thermal insulation performance of a double skin ventilated roof model is investigated experimentally and the optimum location that transmits less heat flux from the lower skinis specified. The model is made of two parallel inclined galvanized steel plates. Galvanized steel has been used

Magnetic Resonance Venography Findings In A Group Of Patients With Multiple Sclerosis
...Show More Authors

Background: Multiple sclerosis is a chronic heterogeneous demyelinating axonal and inflammatory disease involving the Central Nervous System [CNS] white matter with a possibility of gray matter involvement in which the insulating covers of nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord are damaged. This damage disrupts the ability of parts of the nervous system to communicate, resulting in a wide range of signs and symptoms. Cerebral venous insufficiency theory was raised as a possible etiology for the disease at 2008 by Zamboni an Italian cardiothoracic surgeon. This theory was defeated by Multiple Sclerosis[ MS] researchers and scientists who thought that the disease is an autoimmune rather than vascular.

An assessment of serum interleukin - 39 in rheumatoid arthritis patients from Iraq
...Show More Authors

Introduction and Aim: The pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-39, a member of the IL-12 family plays a key role in the inflammatory response by modulating immune cell activity and inflammation. A literature search shows no study undertaken for the effect of IL-39's on arthritis so far. Hence, the purpose of this study was to investigate the role of IL-39 in rheumatoid arthritis. Materials and Methods: This study involved 80 patients with rheumatoid arthritis registered at the Rheumatology Clinic at Baghdad teaching hospital. The patients were divided into three groups based on treatments received. Group 1 included patients who were not on any treatment for arthritis, Group 2 with patients on hydroxychloroquine and or prednisone treatment,

Objective(s): to determine the effectiveness of instruction intervention upon multipara women's practices to
control stress incontinence.
Methodology: A quasi-experimental study was carried out from (2nd) April, 2010 to 15th June, 2010. Nonprobability
(purposive sample) of (60) multiparous women was selected from Baghdad Teaching Hospital and AlElwia
Maternity Teaching Hospital in Baghdad city, the sample was divided into two groups (30) women were
considered as a study group, and another (30) were considered as the control group. An instructional intervention
was applied on the study group, while the intervention was not applied on control group. A questionnaire was

Investment Trends for Iraqi Industries in Terms of Clean Production (selected model)
...Show More Authors

Industrial Investment according to Clean Productive methods is an important element in the process of rational use of Economic Resources, and the Iraqi industrial sector relied on traditional production methods; the productive activities in this sector did not take into consideration the environmental dimension, which leads to achieving the optimal use of economic resources, so it was necessary to have new investment trends heading with Clean Production. Therefore, the research is based on the hypothesis that "Clean Production contributes to improving the environment and rational use of Natural Resources." Based on the descriptive - inductive analysis methodology that study of Iraqi industries with Clean Production,

Multi-Dimensional Angle of Arrival Estimation by Circular Phased Adaptive Array Antennas
...Show More Authors

In this paper the use of a circular array antenna with adaptive system in conjunction with modified Linearly Constrained Minimum Variance Beam forming (LCMVB) algorithm is proposed to meet the requirement of Angle of Arrival (AOA) estimation in 2-D as well as the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) of estimated sources (Three Dimensional 3-D estimation), rather than interference cancelation as it is used for. The proposed system was simulated, tested and compared with the modified Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) technique for 2-D estimation. The results show the system has exhibited astonishing results for simultaneously estimating 3-D parameters with accuracy approximately equivalent to the MUSIC technique (for estimating elevation and a

Concentration-Dependant Antioxidant Activity of Pentoxifylline in Nitrite-induced Hemoglobin Oxidation Model
...Show More Authors

Free radical formation in heme proteins is recognized as a factor in mediating the toxicity of many chemicals. The present study was designed to evaluate the dose-response relationship of the free radical scavenging properties of pentoxifylline in nitrite-induced Hb oxidation. Different concentrations of pentoxifylline were added at different time intervals of Hb oxidation in erythrocytes lysate, and formation of methemoglobin (MetHb) was monitored spectrophotometrically. The results showed that in this model, pentoxifylline successfully attenuates Hb oxidation after challenge with sodium nitrite; this protective effect was found to be not related to the catalytic stage of Hb oxidation, th

Pathotypes Detected Among Populations of <i>Pratylenchus neglectus</i> Collected From Montana
...Show More Authors

The root lesion nematode, Pratylenchus neglectus, is one of the most damaging nematodes to affect wheat worldwide. The nematode is widely distributed in Montana, primarily affecting winter wheat within the state. Managing the nematode primarily involves rotation to resistant and moderately resistant crops (peas, lentils, and barley). A nematode survey was conducted across the state nearly 10 years after an initial survey, to reassess the nematode threat and assess the impact of changing trends in crop rotations. To assess the broad applicability of rotation crops to control P. neglectus across Montana, greenhouse trials were conducted to challenge rotational crops using eight populations of P. neglectus collected from geographicall
