The Gastrointestinal Manifestations in Patients with COVID-19 and their Clinical Correlates in An Adult Iraqi Population Sample
...Show More Authors

The gastrointestinal system is one of the many organs in the body that have been affected by the new viral illness known as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). To find out the GIT symptoms are into patients with Covid-19 and how they correspond with the severity of the illness. At the Al-Shifaa facility, 172 patients infected with COVID-19 participated in our study. A clinical examination, laboratory tests (CRP, D.Dimer, and serum ferritin), a chest CT scan, and a medical history were performed on each patient. The severity of the illness and other factors were taken into consideration while evaluating the gastrointestinal symptoms. Data collection from 172 patients, 91 patients infected with COVID-19 infection, 91 patients (52.9%) had GIT manifestation, while 81 patients (47.1%) had without GIT manifestation. According to the severity 117 patients had severe infection of them 60 patients (51.3%) had GIT manifestation and 57 patients (48.7%) without GIT manifestation; 31 patients had moderate infection 20 patients (64.5%) of them had GIT manifestation, and 11 patients (35.5%) without, 24 patients had mild infection 11 patients (45.8%) had GIT manifestation, and 13 patients( 54.2%) without. According to gender, 82 patients( 47.7%) were female (50 patients (61.0%) had GIT manifestation and 32 patients (39.9%) without), 90 patients (52.3%) were male (41 patients (45.65%) had GIT manifestation and 49 patients (54.4%) without). By comparison of inflammatory markers (in the form of CRP titer, D.Dimer, and sr. ferritin ) which were 99.21 ± 13.71, 2.13 ±0.28, and 642.66±49.95 respectively, in those with SARS-CoV-2 infection and 83.37±8.69, 2.19±0.34 and 606±58.57, respectively, for those with no GIT symptoms (p-value =0.34, 0.89, and 0.62, respectively). GIT manifestations are common symptoms in patients with COVID-19. The incidence of GIT manifestations is not affected by the disease severity in SARS-CoV-2 infection. Inflammatory markers (in the form of CRP titer, ferritin, and D-dimer) are not related to the incidence of GIT manifestations in COVID–19 infection.

Ameloblastoma: A clinical study of 25 Iraqi patients
...Show More Authors

Objective: Geographic differences in clinical and pathological aspects of ameloblastoma have been suggested, therefore the purpose of this study was to analyze cases of ameloblastoma in terms of clinical and radiographic manifestations, histopathological types, treatment modalities and recurrence rate and compare them with reports from other parts of the world. Methods: The medical reports of patients diagnosed with ameloblastoma were reviewed and the data concerning the age, gender, chief complaint, the anatomical site of the lesion, radiographic appearance, histopathological diagnosis, treatment approach and recurrence were retrieved. Surgical treatment consisted of either enucleation with curettage and peripheral ostectomy or resection;

Association of Interleukin-12B Polymorphism and Serum Level of Interleukin-12 in a Sample of Iraqi Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis
...Show More Authors

Background In rheumatoid arthritis, your immune system attacks the tissue lining the joints on both sides of your body. Other parts of the body may also be affected. Unsure of the exact cause. Two separate genes termed IL12A (p35) and IL12 encode the heterodimeric cytokine known as IL12 (p40). Several different hematopoietic cell types can have several different hematopoietic cell types that can generate antigen-presenting cells (APCs), including DCs and macrophages. Objectives This study aimed to investigate if the interleukin IL-12B gene's common polymorphisms in an Iraqi population were associated with RA. Material and methods Blood samples were taken from 70 Iraqi patients with RA illnesses and 30 Iraqi controls during the periods from

Detection of some Physiological and Immunological parameters in Iraqi clinical and subclinical hypothyroid patients: Relationship study
...Show More Authors

The present study was performed to evaluate the level of some risk factors (biochemical and immunological) in hypothyroid Iraqi patients considering the different thyroid functional states (hypothyroidism and subclinical hypothyroidism).The study includes 82 patients clinically diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Three study groups have been investigated: (47 clinical hypothyroid patients, 12 subclinical hypothyroid patients 23 healthy individuals) of different ages. This study, show that the proportion of females (83.3 %), (87.2%) in subclinical and clinical hypothyroidisim respectively higher than the proportion of males (16.7%),(12.8%) in subclinical and clinical hypothyrodism respectively of the total patients.The majority of subclinical hyp

Potential Influence of Parasitic Diseases as Protective Agents from Infection with Pandemic COVID-19
...Show More Authors

Parasitic diseases can affect infection with COVID-19 obviously, as protective agents, or by reducing severity of this viral infection. This current review mentions the common symptoms between human parasites and symptoms of COVID-19, and explains the mechanism actions of parasites, which may prevent or reduce severity of this viral infection. Pre-existing parasitic infections provide prohibition against pathogenicity of COVID-19, by altering the balance of gut microbiota that can vary the immune response to this virus infection.

Deep Learning-based Predictive Model of mRNA Vaccine Deterioration: An Analysis of the Stanford COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine Dataset
...Show More Authors

The emergence of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, has resulted in a global health crisis leading to widespread illness, death, and daily life disruptions. Having a vaccine for COVID-19 is crucial to controlling the spread of the virus which will help to end the pandemic and restore normalcy to society. Messenger RNA (mRNA) molecules vaccine has led the way as the swift vaccine candidate for COVID-19, but it faces key probable restrictions including spontaneous deterioration. To address mRNA degradation issues, Stanford University academics and the Eterna community sponsored a Kaggle competition.This study aims to build a deep learning (DL) model which will predict deterioration rates at each base of the mRNA

Background: Concha bullosa is an anatomical variation which defined by pneumatizaton of middle turbinate that occurred with an incidence of (5 to 25%) in the normal population.It has the potential to cause crowding and obstruction of the middle meatus and nasal cavity. There are many surgical techniques which utilized for its management. Study goal: Is to compare the formation of adhesion between endoscopic partial lateral middle turbinectomy and middle turbinate trimming in cases of concha bullosa. Patients and methods: A prospectivecomparative clinical trial was performed in the ENT department at Al-Shahid Ghazi AL Hariri Hospital in Medical City over the period from September 2016 to August 2017. Fifty nine (59) patients {24 males
