Polymer metal complexes of poly ethylene glycol acetal and Ag (I), Cu (II), Ni (II), Mn (II), Co (III) and Hg (II) were prepared from the reaction of PEG with aldehyde derived fromErythro-ascorbic acid (pentulosono-ɣ-lactone-2, 3- enedianisoate). All these compounds were characterized by Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and FTIR spectra and aldehyde was also characterized by (U.V-Vis), 1HNMR,13CNMR, and mass spectra. It has been established that, the polymer and its metal complexes showedgood activities against four pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli , Klebsiellapneumonae,Staphylococcusaureus, Staphylococcus Albus) and two fungal (Aspergillus Niger,Yeast). The polymer metal complexes showed higher activity than the free polymer.Theorder of increasing activities was polymer < pol- Mn< pol-Ni < pol-Co ˂ pol-Cu ˂ pol-Hg ˂ pol-Ag. The ability of these compounds to show antimicrobial and antifungal properties suggests that, they can be further evaluated for medicinal and/or environmental applications.
New compounds of amids [IV]a-e and Schiff bases [V]f-h derived from 2-amino-1,3,4-oxadiazoles [III] were synthesized and characterized by physical and spectraldata.2-Aamino-1,3,4-oxadiazoles was prepared by the action of bromine on acorresponding semicarbazide [II]( which was prepared by reaction of dialdehyde [I]with semicarbazide hydrochloride ) in the presence of sodium acetate , followed byan intramolecular cyclization . In this study we focused on the determination of influence the novel synthesized thiosemicarbazide derivative "2-(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzylidene) hydrazinecarbothioamide" (HMHC) influenced the corrosion inhibition of mild steel (MS) in a 1.0 M hydrochloric acid acidic solution. This is in an effort to preserve the metal material by maintaining it from corrosion. The synthesized inhibitor was characterized using elemental analysis, and NMR-spectroscopy. Then the corrosion inhibition capability of (HMHC) was studied on mild steel in an acidic medium by weight loss technique within variables [temperature, inhibitor concentration, and time]. The immersion periods were [1:00, 3:00, 5:00, 10:00, 24:00, and 72:00] hours and the tem
... Show MoreThe formation and structural investigation of three new Mannich bases are reported. The synthesis of these compounds was accomplished via a multicomponent one-pot reaction using CaCl2 as a catalyst. The reaction of the benzaldehyde, m-bromoaniline and cyclohexanone or 4-methylcyclohexanone resulted in the formation of L1 and L3, respectively. The synthesis of L2 was achieved by mixing benzaldehyde, o-bromoaniline and cyclohexanone. The isolated compounds were characterised using a range of analytical and spectroscopic techniques. These include; NMR (1H and 13C-NMR), ESMS, FTIR, electronic spectroscopy, microanalyses and melting points. The NMR data for L1 and L2 indicated the presence of one isomer in solutions, on the NMR time scale. How

Show MoreIn this paper ,six new mixed metal ligand complexes are reported with Cephalexin (Ceph.H)as a primary ligand and Dimethylglyoxime (DMG) as secondary ligand with metal Chloride [MCl2 .nH2O. M=Mn(II),Co(II),Cu(II),Ni(II) and Zn(II),n=0-6] ,CrCl3.6H2O.The complexes are of (1:1:1)(Metal:Ligand: Ligand) Stoichiometry. The structures of these complexes are confirmed by using FT-IR and UV- electronic spectroscopies, magnetic moments, melting points, molar conductivity measurements and the metal % analysis revealed that the complexes analyze indicates a four coordinated as (A)=[M(HDMG) (Ceph)] .M=[Ni(II)and Zn(II).Six coordinated as (B) = K2[M(DMG)(CePh)(H2O)]. M= Mn (II),Co(II) and Cu(II) and (C)=[Cr(DMG)(Ceph)]Cl2. Interestingly, the in-vitro anti
... Show MoreIn this publication, several six coordinate Co(III)-complexes are reported. The reaction of 2,3-butanedione monoxime with ethylenediamine or o-phenylenediamine in mole ratios of 2:1 gave the tetradentate imine-oxime ligands diaminoethane-N,N`-bis(2-butylidine-3-onedioxime) H2L1 and o-phenylenediamine-N,N`-bis(2-butylidine-3-onedioxime), respectively. The reaction of H2L1 and H2L2 with Co(NO3)2, and the amino acid co-ligands (glycine or serine) resulted in the formation of the required complexes. Upon complex formation, the ligands behave as a neutral tetradantate species, while the amino acid co-ligand acts as a monobasic species. The mode of bonding and overall geometry of the complexes were determined through physico-chemical and spectro

Show MoreNew complexes of the some trivalent transition metal ions of the uracil such as [M(Ura)3Cl3] and mixed ligand metal complexes with uracil and oxalic acid [M(Ura)2(OA)(OH2)Cl].H2O type, where (Ura)=Uracil, (OA= Oxalic acid dihydrate, (M= Cr+3 and Fe+3) were synthesized and characterized by the elemental analysis, FT.IR, electronic spectra, mass spectra and magnetic susceptibility as well as the conductivity measurements. Six–coordinated metal complexes were suggested for the isolated complexes of Cr+3 and Fe+3 with molecular formulas dependent on the nature of uracil and oxalic acid present. The proposed molecular structure for all complexes with their ions is octahedral geometries. The antibacterial efficiency was tested of metal salts, l
