This paper studies the demonstratives as deictic expressions in Standard Arabic and English by outlining their phonological, syntactic and semantic properties in the two languages. On the basis of the outcome of this outline, a contrastive study of the linguistic properties of this group of deictic expressions in the two languages is conducted next. The aim is to find out what generalizations could be made from the results of this contrastive study.

The study includes the relationship between the ecologia and Abbaside's community in the middle ages, and the role of Baghdad capital city to increasing the sensibility of the people to the outwardly peripheral.

The study explains the efforts between the people and Abbaside's government to cure the knowledge of ecologia, to prevent the separation of diseases and  pollutions of the community.

Abstract Iraq has an important place in the regional and international balance, and the competition among countries has increased in rapprochement with Iraq, not only for its geography or its privileged location, but because it has many other components that make regional and international countries want to strengthen their relations with it (Regional and international powers). The paper attempts to find out the elements of picaresque novel in selected English and Iraqi novels. It studies these elements in Henry Fielding’s Joseph Andrews and Adil Abduljabbar’s Arzal Hamad Al-Salim. The paper is divided into four sections. The first is an introduction to the picaresque novel. It gives a definition, a historical background, and the elements of the genre.
