An idiom is a group of words whose meaning put together is different from the meaning of
individual words. English is a rich language when it comes to idioms, they represent variety. For
foreign learners, idioms are problematic because even if they know the meaning of individual
words that compose an idiom the meaning of it might be something completely different.
The present study investigates Iraqi third year college students’ recognition of idioms. To
achieve this, the researchers have conducted a test which comprises three questions. Certain
conclusions are reached here along with some suggestions and recommendations.

The current research aims to identify the problems and needs for both college of political science and college of engineering’s students. The sample was (100) male and female student. The results showed bunch of problems which could be organized descendingly, the scientific domain ranged between (2 - 2.42), the mean of the psychological domain was (2.85), the moral domain ranged between (2.2 – 2.28)m the problems of study earned (2.30), the material domain got (1.95), the medical and social domain obtained (1.925), and finally, the family domain received (1.887).

The present study aims to explore the effectiveness of a proposed study unit based on the funds of knowledge theory in developing the attitudes towards cultural identity and the proposed study unit. ان الهدف من هذا البحث هو التعرف على أثر انموذج التفكير النشط في تحصيل طلاب الصف الثاني المتوسط لمادة العلوم و تفـكيرهم البصري. تكونت عينة البحث من (58) طالباً، يتوزعون بين مجموعتين احدهما تجريبية و اخرى ضابطة. تم اعداد اداتين مقننتين احداهما لقياس التحصيل والاخرى لقياس التفــكير البصري، وبعد تطبيق تجربة البحث والحصول على البيانات، التي تمت معالجتها احصائيا باستخدام البرنامج الاحصائي(SPSS)؛ كشفت النتائج عن تفوق
