تعد البيئة في يومنا المعاصر من الجوانب التي توليها المجتمعات البشرية اهمية كبرى لما لها من انعكاسات مباشرة وغير مباشرة على حياة الانسان ،وصحته، ومتطلبات حياته ،وأمنه، ومستقره في اي مكان في العالم تبرز مشكلة البحث ، في ان ما من سبيل صحيح لآعداد الاجيال القادمة إعدادا بيئيا ألا من خلال زيادة الوعي البيئي باستعمال كافة الوسائل التربوية المتخصصة، فالمعلومات ضرورية ولكنها لاتمنح صاحبها القدرة على ربطها بالواقع واشاعة المبادرة في حل المشكلات ( سكيكر ، 1995 ، 49) كما لم يعد من السهل التنبؤ بالمعلومات والمهارات التي سيحتاج اليها المتعلمون لمواجهة المشكلات الحاضرة والمستقبلية المعقدة مثل حل مشكلات البيئة . بل من العسير على نظم التعليم القائمة في ان تتلائم مع مختلف التغيرات الحادثة والسريعة في العالم . (الكيومي،2003 ،2) لذلك ولدور الطلبة المهم في عملية نشر الوعي البيئي، ولاسيما طلبة الجامعات عموما وطلبة كليات التربية خاصة فضلا عما تلمسته الباحثة من خبرتها المتواضعة في التدريس من وجود حاجة اجتماعية ملحة على توجيه طلبة كلية التربية /ابن الهيثم (قسمي الكيمياء وعلوم الحياة ) توجيها جيدا، لأهمية الحفاظ على البيئة، ارتأت الباحثة القيام بدراسة في هذا الموضوع الحيوي، للتعرف على مدى أكتساب طلبة كلية التربية ابن الهيثم للوعي البيئي وتأمل الباحثة من خلال نتائج هذه الدراسة ان يحصل المعنيون بشؤن التربية والتعليم ببعض الافادة من اجل اعداد مدرسين واعين بأهمية التربية البيئية ليتمكنوا بدورهم من تنمية الوعي البيئي لدى طلبتهم مستقبلا.
