In this paper, the Active Suspension System (ASS) of road vehicles was investigated. In addition to the conventional stiffness and damper, the proposed ASS includes a fuzzy controller, a hydraulic actuator, and an LVDT position sensor. Furthermore, this paper presents a nonlinear model describing the operation of the hydraulic actuator as a part of the suspension system. Additionally, the detailed steps of the fuzzy controller design for such a system are introduced. It is proposed and studied a prey-predator system with a Holling type II functional response that merges predation fear with a predator-dependent prey's refuge. Understanding the impact of fear and refuge on the system's dynamic behavior is one of the objectives. All conceivable steady-states are investigated for their stability. The persistence condition of the system has been established. Local bifurcation analysis is performed in the Sotomayor sense. Extensive numerical simulation with varied parameters was used to explore the system's global dynamics. A limit cycle and a point attractor are the two types of attractors in the system. It's also interesting to note that the system exhibits bi-stability between these 2 types of attractors.

We report on the experimental and theoretical characterization of elliptically shaped Fabry–Perot microcavities fabricated through a controlled thin-film buckling process. Due to the highly astigmatic nature of the buckled mirrors, the cavity modes are well described as elliptical Hermite–Gaussian beams. In addition to lifting the typical degeneracy of higher-order transverse spatial modes, the cavities exhibit large polarization-mode splitting greater than 25 GHz in the 1550 nm wavelength range. This large, controllable, and highly predictable birefringence makes these cavities of interest for emerging applications in cavity quantum optics that rely on non-degenerate polarization modes.

The study attempts to identify 1) the habits of playing video games among students, 2) the effect of playing video games on students’ academic achievement, 3) the statistically significant differences among students in regard of (gender, time of playing video games, number of hours).
