THE INFLUENCE OF TOOL GEOMETRY OF FRICTION STIR WELDS ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND MICROSTRUCTURE OF 2218-T72 ALUMINUM ALLOY

Friction stir welding (FSW) process is an emerging solid state joining process in which the material that is being welded does not melt. This process uses a nonconsumable tool to generate frictional heat in the abutting surfaces. The welding parameters such as tool rotational speed, welding speed, axial force, etc., and tool pin profile play a major role in deciding the weld quality. In this investigation an attempt
has been made to understand the effect of tool pin profile and rotation diameter on microstructure and mechanical properties in aluminum alloy (2218-T72). Five different tool pin profiles (straight cylindrical, threaded cylindrical, triangular, square, and threaded cylindrical with flat), with three different rotation
diameter (3, 4, 5) mm. have been used to fabricate the joint. Effect of tool pin profile on mechanical properties of welded joints were investigated using different mechanical tests including (tensile, bending and microhardness tests). Microstructure characteristic during (FSW) process was studied and different welding joint were investigated using optical microscope. Based on the stir welding experiments conducted in this study the results show that aluminum alloy (2218-T72) can be welded using (FSW) process with maximum welding efficiency (86.95%) and (83.21%) in terms of ultimate tensile strength and bending force respectively using tool pin profile (threaded cylindrical with flat) with rotation diameter (5) mm, rotation speed (900rpm) and (30mm/min) welding speed.

Effect of Local Feldspar on the Properties of Self Compacting Concrete

Studying the effect of temperature and treating time on some physical properties of carbon black

The samples were pressed in a (3) cm diameter cylindrical die to (250)MPa and treated thermally within temperature range of (600-1000)oC for two and three hours. Effect of heat treatment on the structural and optical properties of CuIn1-xGaxSe thin films

CuIn1-xGaxSe thin films for x=0.6 have been prepared by thermal evaporation technique, of 2000±20 nm thickness, with rate of deposition 2±0.1 nm/sec, on glass substrate at room temperature. Heat treatment has been carried out in the range (373-773) K for 1 hour. It demonstrated from the XRD method that all the as-deposited and annealed films have polycrystalline structure of multiphase. Study the Effect of Heat Treatment and Pressure on Some Electrical Properties of Nano Polycarbonate

In the present research, the electrical properties which included the ac-conductivity (σac), loss tangent of dielectric (tan δ) and real dielectric constant (ε’) are studied for nano polycarbonate in different pressures and frequencies as a function of temperature these properties were studied at selective temperature gradients which are (RT-50-100-150-250)°C. The results of the study showed that the values of dielectric constant and dissipation factor increase with increasing pressure and temperature and decreases by increasing frequency. And the results of electrical conductivity showed that it increases with increasing temperature, pressure and frequency.

Effect of Functionalized Graphene Oxide (FGO) on the Electrical and Dielectrical Properties of PVA Films

In the present work, nanocomposite of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) incorporated with functionalized graphene oxide (FGO) were fabricated using casting method. PVA was dispersed by varying content of FGO (0.3, 0.5, 0.8, 1 wt %). The PVA- FGO nanocomposite was characterized by FT‐IR, FE-SEM and XRD. Frequency dependence of real permittivity (ε’), imaginary (ε’’) and a.c conductivity of PVA/FGO and PVA/GO nanocomposite were studied in the frequency range 100 Hz- 1 MHz. The experimental results showed that the values of real (ε’) and imaginary permittivity (ε’’) increased dramatically by increasing the FGO content in PVA matrix.
