Numerical Investigation of Aerodynamic Characteristics of Supercritical RAE2822 Airfoil with Gurney Flap
...Show More Authors

Gurney flap (GF) is well-known as one of the most attractive plain flaps because of the simple configuration and effectiveness in improving the lift of the airfoil. Many studies were conducted, but the effects of GF on the various airfoil types need to be further investigated. This study aimed to clarify the effect of GF in the case of the supercritical airfoil RAE2822. This research includes a steady, two-dimensional computational investigation carried out on the supercritical airfoil type RAE-2822 to analyze Gurney flap (GF) effects on the aerodynamic characteristics of this type of airfoil utilizing the Spalart-Allmaras turbulence model within the commercial software Fluent. The airfoil with the Gurney flap was analyzed for three different height values 1%c, 2%c, and 3%c, and five mounting angles (30°,45°,60°,75°, and 90°) with the axial chord for angles of attack (-1°,-2°,-3°,0°,1°,2°,3°). The calculations showed that when GF height is increased, the maximum suction pressure on the upper surface increases by 25.4%, 36.5%, and 68.83% when the height of the Gurney flap is 1%c, 2%c, and 3%c, respectively, compared with that on the airfoil without GF. The lift coefficient was also increased, and the shock waves moved downward by increasing GF height. As Gurney flap heights increase, the drag coefficient increases gradually for positive angles of attack but for negative angles of attack. The drag coefficient also decreases with increasing the GF heights. As long as the angle of the mounting is between 45o and 90o, the lift coefficient does not differ on a large scale. For mounting angles less than 45o, the lift coefficient drops quite fast. As a result, reducing the Gurney flap’s lift enhancement and the drag coefficient increases gradually for positive angles of attack, but for negative angles, it can be noted that the drag coefficient decreases with increasing the mounting angles of GF. The calculated values of the lift and drag coefficients with an attack angle and pressure coefficient compared with the experimental values, and a good agreement was noticed.

Hydrophilic Interaction Chromatography Analysis of Esculin in Ointments with UV Detection
...Show More Authors
Background:

Esculin (ESCN) is used in the pharmaceutical industry with intravenous effect, stimulant and anti-inflammatory capillaries, like vitamin P. It is a significant component of many anti-inflammatory remedies such as esqusan, esflazid and anavenol [14]. It is also found in numerous other remedies available in the market such as proctosone, anustat, and ariproct.

Objective:

To determine experimental conditions, to elucidate retention behavior of esculin in HILIC mode. Moreover, to suggest new ways to separate and determinate esculin in ointments.

Methods:

Two hydrophilic c

Abstract A descriptive (retrospective) (a case-control) study was carried out at Al-Karama Teaching Hospital, Baghdad Teaching Hospital and Surgical Specialties Hospital, and Gastro-Intestinal Tract and Liver (GIT) Hospital for the period of December 1st, 2001 To March 15th 2002. To identify aspects of life-style that may contribute to the occurrence of peptic ulcer (P.U)as risk factors. And to find out the relationship between the demographic characteristic of the group. Non-probability (Purposive) sample of (100) cases who were admitted to the endoscopy department who were later on diagnosed as having

Background: Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is one of the most serious health problems and Herpes viridae may hasten the progression of colon cancer. Aim: The purpose of conducting this research is to investigate the existence of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV1) infection in samples of Colorectal Cancer (CRC) compared with normal tissue. Material and Methods: 40 samples of tissues (30 patients ) with CRC, and (10 samples) of normal tissue (without cancer) were obtained, for immunohistochemically analysis of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV1) expression Results: The results showed no significant data to justify the link between both Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV1) and human colorectal cancer. Despite of presence of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV1) found in

A Review: Synthesis and characterization of metals complexes with paracetamol drug
...Show More Authors

In this review, previous studies on the synthesis and characterization of the metal Complexes with paracetamol by elemental analysis, thermal analysis, (IR, NMR and UV-Vis (spectroscopy and conductivity. In reviewing these studies, the authors found that paracetamol can be coordinated through the pair of electrons on the hydroxyl O-atom, carbonyl O-atom, and N-atom of the amide group. If the paracetamol was a monodentate ligand, it will be coordinated by one of the following atoms O-hydroxyl, O-carbonyl or N-amide. But if the paracetamol was bidentate, it is coordinated by atoms (O-carbonyl and N-amide), (O-hydroxyl and N-amide) or (O-carbonyl and O-hydroxyl). The authors also found that free paracetamol and its complexes have antimicrobial

Abstract
<title>Background:

Hyperprolactinemia is a common endocrine abnormality caused by physiological factors like pregnancy and lactation, drug-induced factors like antipsychotics, pituitary adenomas that secrete prolactin, or stalk compression or section that reduces dopamine inhibition. Dopamine agonists cure most prolactinomas.

Objectives:

To assess response to treatment in micro versus macroprolactinoma.

Response of Damaged Reinforced Concrete Beams Strengthened with NSM CFRP Strips
...Show More Authors

This paper presents a study (experimentally) for strengthening reinforced concrete (RC) beams with Near-Surface-Mounted (NSM) technique. The use of this technique with CFRP strips or rebars is an efficient technology for increasing the strength for flexure and shear or for repairing damaged reinforced concrete (RC) members. The objective of this research is to study, experimentally, RC beams either repaired or strengthened with NSM CFRP strips and follow their flexural behavior and failure modes. NSM-CFRP strips were used to strengthen three RC beam specimens, one of them was initially strengthened and tested up to failure. Four beam specimens have been initially subjected to preloading to 50% and 80% of ultimate load. Two of the sp

An analytical study of soil temperature with respect to its salinity
...Show More Authors

In this study, the relationship between the bare soil temperature with respect to its salinity is presented, the bare soil feature is considered only by eliminating all other land features by classifying the site location by using the support vector machine algorithm, in the same time the salinity index that calculated from the spectral response from the satellite bands is calibrated using empirical salinity value calculated from field soil samples. A 2D probability density function is used to analyze the relationship between the temperature rising from the minimum temperature (from the sunrise time) due to the solar radiation duration tell the time of the satellite capturing the scene image and the calibrated salinity index is presented. Cams are considered as one of the most important mechanical components that depends the contact action to do its job and suffer a lot of with drawbacks to be predicted and overcame in the design process. this work aims to investigate the induced cam contact and the maximum shear stress energy or (von misses) stresses during the course of action analytically using Hertz contact stress equation and the principal stress formulations to find the maximum stress value and its position beneath the contacting surfaces. The experimental investigation adopted two dimensions photoelastic technique to analyze cam stresses under a plane polarized light. The problem has been numerically simulated using Ansys software version 15 as FE
