A total of 28 birds were examined to investigate about the distribution of the nematode Hadjelia truncata among some members of the avian family Columbidae in Al-Diwaniya Province, Central Iraq. The percentages of the infection rate with this nematode were 27.27, 37.5, 14.28 and 0 in Columba livia, C. palumbis, Streptopelia decaocto, and S. turtur respectively. Reporting Hadjelia truncata from Streptopelia decaocto constitutes a new host record.

Bacterial contamination of AL-Habania and AL-Tharthar reservoirs were studied during the period from February 2001 to January 2002, samples were collected from four stations in AL-Habania reservoir (AL-Warrar, AL-Theban regulator, middle of the reservoir and the fourth was towards AL-Razzaza reservoir) and from two stations at AL-Tharthar reservoir (Ein AL-Hilwa and the middle of the reservoir). A dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction combines with UV-V is spectrophotometry for the preconcentration and determination of Mefenamic acid in pharmaceutical preparation was developed and introduced. The proposed method is based on the formation of charge transfer complexation between mefenamic acid and chloranil as an n-electron donor and a p-acceptor, respectively to form a violet chromogen complex measured at 542 nm. The important parameters affecting the efficiency of DLLME were evaluated and optimized. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration graphs of standard and drug, were ranged 0.03-10 µg mL-1. Mishrif Formation is the main reservoir in oil-fields (North Rumaila, South Rumaila, Majnoon, Zubair and West Qurna) which located at Basrah southern Iraq.
