Keys for 22 species representing 10 genera of Thripidae were provided collection of
samples carried out during 1999-2001 in different localities in the middle of Iraq. Of them
four species are described as new to science, Frankliniella megacephala sp. nov; Retithrips
bagdadensis sp. nov; Chirothrips imperatus sp. nov; Taeniothrips tigridis sp. nov; Another
fourteen species are recorded for the first time in Iraq; Thrips meridionalis (Pri.);

Air pollution evaluation of the operational processes in the East Baghdad oil field was carried out. The analysis was carried out by ICP-MS technique. Total Suspended Particles (TSP) air load was higher than Iraqi Standards and world international allowable limits of World Health Organization. The mean concentrations of gases carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, in the air were within national and world standards, while the mean concentration of nitrogen dioxide was higher than standard limits. The air of the study area is considered a good quality for CO, CO2 and NO2 with no health effect, while it is hazardous for TSP that have serious risk for people with respiratory disease. Isolation and identification fungi of Emericella nidulans and Aspergillus flavus from a pinkish and yellowish artificial clay, by using potato dextrose agar (PDA). Results revealed that E. nidulans was the best for degrading anthracene (92.3%) with maximum biomass production (3.7gm/l), compared to A. flavus with the rate of degradation (89%) and biomass production of (1.2gm/l), when methylene blue was used as redox indicator after incubating in a shaker incubator 120rpm at 30Co for 8days. Results indicated that E. nidulans has a high ability of anthracene degradation with the rate of (84%), while A. flavus showed the lower level with (77%) by using HPLC.

Silver nanoparticles synthesized by different species

Aim: This study aimed to assessing orthodontic knowledge and attitude among general dentists and non-orthodontic specialists. Background: Early detection of orthodontic disorders is essentialin motivating patients to intervene prior to long term complications when the disorders are not recongised. Methods: A questionnaire was distributed amongst dentistsother than orthodontists. This questionnaire consisted of three sections.
