The performance of a synergistic combination of electrocoagulation (EC) and electro-oxidation (EO) for oilfield wastewater treatment has been studied. The effect of operative variables such as current density, pH, and electrolyte concentration on the reduction of chemical oxygen demand (COD) was studied and optimized based on Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The results showed that the current density had the highest impact on the COD removal with a contribution of 64.07% while pH, NaCl addition and other interactions affects account for only 34.67%. This study investigated the effect of essential oils extracted from peel of Citrus limon and Citrus reticulata on two species of fungui: Penicillium expansum and Fusarium proliferatum and also effect of two fungicides: Hymexazol and Benomyl against this fungi. Results showed that the essential oils of C. limon inhibited the radial growth of P. expansum and F. proliferatum at concentration 4.5 and 5%, respectively. However, the essential oil of C. reticulate inhibited this growth at concentration 5.5 and 6%, respectively. Moreover, the two fungicides inhibited radial growth of this fungi. In conclusion, there is a positive relationship between the increasing of concentration and the percentage of inhibiting of radial growth of fungi.

New, simple and sensitive batch and Flow-injecton spectrophotometric methods for the determination of Thymol in pure form and in mouth wash preparations have been proposed in this study. These methods were based on a diazotization and coupling reaction between Thymol and diazotized procaine HCl in alkaline medium to form an intense orange-red water-soluble dye that is stable and has a maximum absorption at 474 nm. A graphs of absorbance versus concentration show that Beer’s law is obeyed over the concentration range of 0.4-4.8 and 4-80 µg.ml-1 of Thymol, with detection limits of 0.072 and 1.807 µg.ml-1 of Thymol for batch and FIA methods respectively.
