Objectives: To evaluate the incidence of adhesions
induced intestinal obstruction after explorative laparotomy
due to bullet/shell injury in Al-Kindi teaching
hospital/Baghdad.
Results: Thirty-six out of the 76 cases with adhesions
induced intestinal obstruction (A.I.I.O.) had history of
laparotomy for penetrating missile injury, 26 of them were
explored as a method of management of A.I.I.O. with
mean age (22 for those explored, ٣٧ for those treated
conservatively), 16 of them presented within a year or less
from the previous surgery.
Methods: Comparative interventional prospective study of
cases with adhesions induced intestinal obstruction
admitted to the surgical wards in Al-Kindi teaching
hospital from the 1st of January 2008 to 31st of December
2008. cases were followed considering the indications of
previous laparotomies, the patients age, gender, duration
between previous surgery and their presentation with
intestinal obstruction
Conclusion: Cases required surgical interventions for
treatment were mainly those following explorative
laparotomy for penetrating missile injury they were mainly
of young age Groups

In this work, (CdO)1-x (CoO)x thin films were prepared on glass slides by laser-induced plasma using Nd:YAG laser with (λ=1064 nm) and duration (9 ns) at different laser energies (200-500 mJ) with ratio (x=0.5), The influence of laser energy on structural and optical properties has been studied. The consequences of ionizing radiation-induced oxidative stress on radiographers in X-ray and CT-scan departments utilizing several biochemical were analyzed. The study found highly considerable discrepancies in the interplay between radiation levels and gender in terms of mean Malondialdehyde (MAD), Vitamin D3 (Vit.D3), Triiodothyronine (T3), Thyroxine (T4), and High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL), but not Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), cholesterol, triglyceride (TG) and Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL). The findings indicated that malondialdehyde is a useful biomarker for assessing oxidative stress in radiographers with exposure to ionizing radiation.

This work involves separating and studying the aminoacylase-1 (ACY1) of amniotic fluid from healthy pregnant, mainly one peak with higher activity has been isolated by DEAE-Cellulose ion exchange from the proteinous supernatant produced by deposition of proteins using ammonium sulfate (65%) after dialysis. The purification folds reaching to 19 folds also gave one protein peak when injected into the gel filtration column, a high ACY1 purity was obtained, with 38 folds of purification.
