Fetal macrosomia Maternal and Perinatal outcome
...Show More Authors

Background: Fetal macrosomia represent a
continuing challenge in obstetrics and increasing in
it's occurrence as well as it is associated with maternal
and perinatal complications.
Objective : To determine the maternal and perinatal
outcome related to fetal macrosomia.
Design: A prospective case control study.
Patients and methods) :10th March-31st May, 2006
A prospective case control study had done over the
period from 10th March to 31st May, 2006 in Al-Batool
maternity teaching hospital in Mosul city .The study
group consisted from 633 singleton alive newborns
with gestational age ≥37weeks weighing 4000 grams
and heavier and mothers of these newborns compared
with control group which consisted from 4155
singleton alive newborn with gestational age
≥37weeks weighing 2500-3999 grams and mothers of
these newborns .The obstetrical outcome variables
which compared between the two groups include mode
of delivery, indication of caesarean section and
maternal and perinatal complications.
Results :
Macrosomic newborns (≥4000grams) delivered in this
study account for (12.45%) of total deliveries.
Newborns with a birth weight of ≥4500grams
constitute 2.65% from all deliveries .Male Newborns
(65.24%) was higher and statistically differed among
the study group (p value=0.001).
Instrumental vaginal delivery (P value=0.010,Odd
ratio :2.12, 95 %CI :1.19-3.76) and cesarean section
delivery (P value=0.000,Odd ratio:1.63, 95 %CI :
1.34-1.98), mainly the emergency cesarean section
(18.79%), were significantly different among the
study group .Failure of progress of labour and
cephalopelvic disproportion were the main indications
in study group and showed statistical significant
difference between the two groups.
Among the study group, there was neither maternal
death nor uterine rupture but there was higher
occurrence of postpartum hemorrhage, genital tract
trauma and shoulder dystocia which were significantly
different when it compared with control group .Erb's
palsy was the main perinatal complication and was
statistically different among macrosomic group (P
value=0.000) .
Conclusion: Fetal macrosomia was associated with
higher rate of instrumental vaginal delivery and
caesarean section mainly due to failure of progress of
labour and cephalopelvic disproportion .There were
higher rate of postpartum haemorrhage, genital tract
trauma as well as shoulder dystocia with neither
maternal death nor uterine rupture in study group .
Among macrosomic newborn, Erb's pulsy was the
main perinatal complication

Rationality and Freedom in Islamic Thought

Abstract Rationality and freedom are fundamental elements of Western modernity. Although modern and contemporary Islamic thought has established its intellectual foundations on the fundamentals of intellectual thought that are at the core of its Islamic intellectual system, at the same time many of its intellectual products have been a response In spite of the fact that this Islamic intellectual response stands out from Western modernity as a negation or a positive attitude. The Islamic intellectual response differed in determining its position on Western modernity, depending on the nature of the historical stage that was The Islamic nation, as well as the nature of the challenge posed by Western civilization to other nations and other c

Architecture Between Mind and Empirical Experience
...Show More Authors

The research aims to identify the level of balance in the architectural thought influenced by the rational type human consciousness, the materialistic based on the Empirical type, moral based on human experience as source of knowledge.

This was reflected in architecture in the specialized thought that the mind is the source of knowledge which explains the phenomena of life. The rational approach based on objectivity and methodology in (Form Production), the other approach is based on subjectivity in form production (Form Inspiration).

The research problem is that there is imbalance in the relationship between the rational side and the human experience in architecture, which led into imbalance between theo

Correlation between exoplanet and star metallicity
...Show More Authors

The metallicity [Fe/H] for several stars accompanied by Extra-solar planets were calculated and plotted as a function of stars mass (M*). Results showed that masses of Extra-solar planets stars are well correlated with their metallicity .This relation could be explained by the equation: Y=-0.0045x + 0.065. The metallicity limit is found to be in the range of (0.18 to 0.3), relative to the mass limit in the range of (0.76 to 1.44) MSun.
This criteria is a good tool that can be used by observers who are aiming for detecting Extra-solar planets

Preparation and Evaluation of Cefixime Nanocrystals
...Show More Authors

Drug nanocrystals are nanoscopic crystals of the parent compound with dimensions less than 1 µm. A decrease in particle size will lead to an increase in effective surface area in the diffusion layer, which, in turn, increases the drug dissolution rate. Drug nanocrystals are one of the most important strategies to enhance the oral bioavailability of hydrophobic drugs.

Cefixime is the first member of what is generally termed the third generation orally active cephalosporins. These third generation cephalosporins are distinct from the older β-lactam antibiotics in their intensive antibacterial activity against a wide range of gram-negative bacteria.

The aim of this study is to prepare nanocrystals of cefixime as a caps

Data Analytics and Blockchain: A Review
...Show More Authors

Blockchain technology relies on cryptographic techniques that provide various advantages, such as trustworthiness, collaboration, organization, identification, integrity, and transparency. Meanwhile, data analytics refers to the process of utilizing techniques to analyze big data and comprehend the relationships between data points to draw meaningful conclusions. The field of data analytics in Blockchain is relatively new, and few studies have been conducted to examine the challenges involved in Blockchain data analytics. This article presents a systematic analysis of how data analytics affects Blockchain performance, with the aim of investigating the current state of Blockchain-based data analytics techniques in research fields and

Ironic Metonymy in Russian and Arabic
...Show More Authors

This article is devoted to the cognitive study of ironic metonymy in Russian and Arabic. Metonymy and irony have traditionally been seen as parallel linguistic phenomena. But their formation and interpretation are based on different cognitive mechanisms. At the formal and functional level, metonymy and irony have a number of significant differences. Metonymy is an artistic technique, the mechanism of which is based on obvious, easily traced connections between objects and phenomena of the surrounding world. Irony is a satirical technique or a rhetorical figure that is used to create a certain artistic image, aimed at forming the hidden meaning of the statement. A native speaker intuitively feels the difference between metonymy and i

H-essential Submodules and Homessential Modules
...Show More Authors

The main goal of this paper is introducing and studying a new concept, which is named H-essential submodules, and we use it to construct another concept called Homessential modules. Several fundamental properties of these concepts are investigated, and other characterizations for each one of them is given. Moreover, many relationships of Homessential modules with other related concepts are studied such as Quasi-Dedekind, Uniform, Prime and Extending modules.

Culturing and Maintaining Mammalian Cell Culture
...Show More Authors

Mammalian cell culture refers to culturing mammalian cells in a medium that provide nutrients for cells to be able to grow in vitro under environment that closely mimic the in vivo conditions. By enabling culturing these cells outside living biological entities, investigation on intra- and intercellular activities and flux; genetic and phenotyping analysis; proteomics, study of toxicology, drug discovery and development can be carried out without manipulation of living animals. In this chapter, detail protocol of media preparation, cell culture maintenance and preservation are elaborated for both types of mammalian cell culture, monolayer or suspension cultures. Determination of number of cells is discussed as well.
