Efficiency and Safety of Desferioxamine Chelation Therapy in Paediatric Patients with Transfusion-Dependent Anaemia: Experience of two Centres from Sudan
...Show More Authors

Conclusion: This study revealed some features of   safety and efficiency of desferoxamine therapy   in Sudanese paediatrics population affected by transfusion-dependent anemia. More studies are needed to   describe this important health problem

Background: Repeated blood transfusion   is   the main   therapeutic option for transfusion-dependent anaemias with consequent iron overload and organ damage .Therefore iron chelating agents are important protective measures for these patients. The aim of this study was  to investigate  the efficiency and safety of Desferroxamine  in paediatrics population subjected  to iron overload as a consequence  of repeated transfusion in a group of  Sudanese children

Subjects & Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional hospital based study.  Conducted in two main paediatric reference hospitals   in, Sudan. Within   the period between November 2017   and   April 2018 (6 months duration).  The   two centres were JaafarI bn- Oaf hospital and Albulk hospital.  The study population included all patients of transfusion dependent anaemia who received desferrioxamine within the study period. Hundred   patients were enrolled in the study. The study variables  were  demographic data, number of blood transfusions , serum ferritin  pre and post  blood transfusion and treatment of desferrioxamin

Results: Sixty percent (60%)  of the studied cases  were males and 40% were females ,46%  were thalassemic, 46%  were sicklers,  5% aplastic anemia and 3% with red cell aplasia .The mean  serum ferritin level before starting desferoxamine  was 2.14 and after dessferoxamine  was  2.48,   P –value  was  highly significant.  The most common side effect encountered   was skin rash (36%)

...Show More Authors

The research discusses one of the most critical issues of corporate finance which is related to asset utilization efficiency. Researchers used internal growth rate as independent variable (Proxy of asset utilization efficiency) and sustainable growth rate-dependent variable (proxy of stockholders wealth). According to these two variables, researchers formulate major hypotheses (There is no significant effect of internal growth rate on sustainable growth rate), as well as two sub-hypotheses, examine the components of major variables. Sample of Iraqi industrial companies which listed in the Iraqi stock exchange selected to test and examine main hypotheses. Result of simple and multiple regressions explain there is a significant effect of i

Methotrexate effect on obestatin, progranulin and kidney function in RA Iraqi males patients
...Show More Authors

Methotrxate (MTX) has become the standard of care and first-line therapy for patients who have RA and consider as a gold standard of treatment for RA. The role of MTX in the treatment of RA has now been well established. The use of MTX treatment of RA inhibits proliferation of the lymphocytes, reduces signs and symptoms this disease, reduces progression damage of the joints and improves quality of life outcome. Progranulin (PGRN) acts a role in autoimmune inflammatory, has important function in several processes including immune response. Present study has conducted to find the effect of MTX drugs as a therapeutic target for RA patients because of its ability to bind with tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR), with progranulin, obestatin an

Background: left ventricular hypertrophy is independent risk factor for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The presence of diabetic complications such as autonomic neuropathy and retinopathy may predict cardiac structural changes in diabetic patients. Objective: To explore the chance of occurrence of left ventricular hypertrophy in diabetic patients and whether it is related to the presence of other diabetic complications. Methods: ninty seven (97) normotensive diabetic patients (57) type II with mean duration of diabetes of (12±6 y) and forty (40) type I with mean duration of (8±6 y) were studied by echocardiography and compared with 41 patients as control. Background: The SARS-CoV-2 virus causes COVID-19, a respiratory syndrome. It causes inflammation and damages several organs in the body. miRNAs play a role in regulating the infection resulting from SARS-CoV-2. MicroRNA-155, a kind of microRNA linked to viral defences, can affect the immune responses during COVID-19. Objectives: Examination of the involvement of microRNA-155 in the development and severity of COVID-19, as well as finding the correlation between microRNA-155 and viral load (copies/mL) in severe cases of the disease. Materials and Method: A case-control research study was performed between October 2022 and June 2023. It included a cohort of 120 hospitalised individuals with severe cases of COVID-19, together with 115 individu
