Quality of Life among People Survived from Terroristic Explosions: A Retrospective Cohort Study
...Show More Authors

Background: Increasing interest in quality of life (QoL) is the new approach for understanding and improvement of health care. Although there are many studies about quality of life, there is deficiency of data about quality of life of peoples survived from terroristic explosions. Objectives: To study the QoL for peoples survived from terroristic explosions and compare it with that of a controlled people. Methods: This study was conducted between, 1st of July till 31st of December 2013. The sample of this study was collected from peoples attending the outpatient clinics in four primary health care centers, Baghdad city (2 from Rusafa and 2 from Karkh). 183 individuals proved to be exposed to terroristic explosion and 199 individual not exposed to such event were recruited and Arabic version of the World Health Organization (WHO) self-reporting questionnaire (WHO-QoL-BRIEF) was used to assess the QoL.Results: This study revealed that peoples exposed to event of terroristic explosion show a serious defect in all domains of QoL (physical, psychological, social and environmental) as compared with that for non exposed peoples to such accidents in the same areas of the study. Conclusions: This study showed that peoples survived from terroristic explosions have a low QoL indicators as compared with those not exposed to such trauma .

Review of the Kriging Technique Applications to Groundwater Quality
...Show More Authors

Kriging, a geostatistical technique, has been used for many years to evaluate groundwater quality. The best estimation data for unsampled points were determined by using this method depending on measured variables for an area. The groundwater contaminants assessment worldwide was found through many kriging methods. The present paper shows a review of the most known methods of kriging that were used in estimating and mapping the groundwater quality. Indicator kriging, simple kriging, cokriging, ordinary kriging, disjunctive kriging and lognormal kriging are the most used techniques. In addition, the concept of the disjunctive kriging method was explained in this work to be easily understood.

Performance quality of single and ?two stage solar concentrators
...Show More Authors

The performance of single and two stage solar concentrator were studied ' " The ratio of the primary to the secondary mirrors diameter is taking to be 0.5, depending on the theoretical calculation for the accumulated energy by the concentrator with ratio between 0.0 to 0.9. The design of the systems were designed and examined by using a ray-tracing program. The efficiency of the single and the two stage concentrators are calculated and compared with and without cooling systems.

For cleaner air and unpolluted continue assessment study air pollution the city of
Baghdad by measuring the concentrations of air pollutants, which included TSP, Pb, where
the adoption of three stations (Andalus Square, Jadiriya, Allawi) are distributed in the city of
Baghdad in order to compare the concentrations of these pollutants with previous studies.
Study pointed out that the city's air contaminant, especially in minutes outstanding after
deducting the amount of atmospheric dust thick mechanism city this year where the highest
concentration of minutes outstanding (9895) micrograms / m 3 at the station Alawi and lower
concentration of 157 micrograms / m 3 at the station Alawi and this was higher than the

...Show More Authors

A revised checklist of the robber fly genera (Diptera, Asilidae) was given during this study in Iraq. The investigation showed (21) genera belonging to seven subfamilies, two genera new recorded to entomofauna of Iraq (Promachus Loew, 1848 and Genus: Dysmacus Loew, 1860). Eight genera showed in this investigation and eleven genera were recorded previously to Iraq.

Cloning and expression of a lipase gene from Pseudomonas aeruginosa into E.coli
...Show More Authors

Fifteen local isolates of Pseudomonas were obtained from several sources such as soil, water and some high-fat foods (Meat, olives, coconuts, etc.). The ability of isolates to produce lipase was measured by the size of clear zone on Tween 20 solid medium and by measuring the enzymatic activity and specific activity. Isolate M3 (as named in this study) was found to be the most efficient for the production of the lipase with enzymatic activity reached 56.6 U/ml and specific activity of 305.94 U/mg. This isolate was identified through genetic analysis of the 16S rRNA gene. and it was shown that the isolate M3 belongs to Pseudomonas aeruginosa with 99% similarity. The DNA of isolate M3 was extracted and lipase gene was amplified through PCR tec

This paper examines the change in planning pattern In Lebanon, which relies on vehicles as a semi-single mode of transport, and directing it towards re-shaping the city and introducing concepts of "smooth or flexible" mobility in its schemes; the concept of a "compact city" with an infrastructure based on a flexible mobility culture. Taking into consideration environmental, economical and health risks of the existing model, the paper focuses on the four foundations of the concepts of "city based on culture flexible mobility, "and provides a SWOT analysis to encourage for a shift in the planning methodology.
