Frequency of Pulmonary Aspergillosis Among Clinically Suspected and Under Treatment Tuberculosis Patients , Khartoum State , Sudan
...Show More Authors

Background

Respiratory tract aspergillosis is a pulmonary disease cause by aspergillus species which are opportunistic fungi that mainly infect immuno-compromised patients .

 Objective(s)

The present study aimed to detect the frequency of pulmonary aspergillosis among clinically suspected and under follow up tuberculosis patients conducted at Tropical Diseases Teaching Hospital, Omdurman, Khartoum State , Sudan during the period from December 2019 to November 2020.

 Materials and Methods

One hundred and fifty sputum samples were collected from suspected cases of pulmonary tuberculosis and under follow up tuberculosis patients. All specimens were examined using 20% KOH and cultured on two sets of Sabouraudʹs Dextrose agar slope media with chloramphenicol.

Results

Asperigillus species were isolated from 9/150 (6%) patients. They represented 5(3.3%) A.fumigatus, 3 (2%) A. niger and 1 (0.6%) A. Flavus. It was found that all Aspergillus isolates were revealed from Non acid fast bacilli (Non AFB) patients 9/137(6.6%) with the most common frequency among asymptomatic patients 3/35(8.6%) , patients who were under tuberculosis treatment (8.5%), those who were under Rifampicin (RIF) and Isonizide (INH) treatment (10%) and with duration of less than three month. Also the higher percentage (13%) was represented among the age group range from 61-80 year and slightly among males 6/97 (6.2 %) than females 3/53 (5.7%). There was statistically non-significant association between the frequency of aspergillosis and the studied variables in this study.

Conclusion

The frequency of pulmonary aspergillosis among patients with anti-tuberculosis treatment reflects the need for routine screening and diagnosis of those patients since the use of anti- tuberculosis treatment can promote the growth and reproduction of fungi.

Keywords

Assessment of the Depression Level among Medical Students at University of Baghdad, College of Medicine
...Show More Authors

Background: Depression, a state of low mood and aversion to activity, can affect people's thoughts, behavior, tendencies, feelings, and sense of well-being. It can either be short-term or long-term, depending on the severity of the person's condition. Risk factors include personal or family history of depression, major life changes, trauma, stress, certain physical illnesses, and medications.

Objective: This study investigates the prevalence of depression among medical students at the University of Baghdad, college of medicine in Iraq, and the association between some variables and depression.

Subjects and Methods: A cross-sectional study design with a convenience sampling method was conducted.

THE RESPONSE OF GROWTH OF SOME LAWN PLANTS TO CHEMICAL FERTILIZATION WITH HUMIC ACID UNDER LOW-LIGHT CONDITIONS OF HOUSE GARDEN
...Show More Authors

Shade in house gardens is one of the problems that hinder the growth of lawn and its distribution in the soil, where the types of lawns differ in their durability and adaptation to shade. The research aims to know the resistance of some species of lawn plants to shade and to know the appropriate fertilization procedures that can be followed to reduce the negative effects. The study was conducted in the Amiriya district of Baghdad in a house garden. Three varieties of lawn plants Bermuda, Gazon, and Trifoglio were planted. Five fertilization treatments (contained N and P elements) and the control were used. The sunlight density with the temperature of the study field locations were estimated using the AMT-300 and the vegetation coverage perc

This study aimed to identify the perceived mental image of volunteering, and its relationship to volunteer motivation among a sample of Al-Quds Open University students, as well as to identify the differences in the perceived mental image of volunteering due to variables (gender, year of study, place of residence, college). The researcher has used relational descriptive approach. The researcher has used two questionnaires, the first was used to measure the perceptive mental image of volunteering, and the second to measure the motivation towards volunteering, and the study population may consist of all students of Al-Quds Open University Hebron Branch during the first semester of the academic year 2021/2020 and their number (3462)Male and

Developing Bulk Arrival Queuing Models with Constant Batch Policy Under Uncertainty Data Using (0-1) Variables
...Show More Authors

This paper delves into some significant performance measures (PMs) of a bulk arrival queueing system with constant batch size b, according to arrival rates and service rates being fuzzy parameters. The bulk arrival queuing system deals with observation arrival into the queuing system as a constant group size before allowing individual customers entering to the service. This leads to obtaining a new tool with the aid of generating function methods. The corresponding traditional bulk queueing system model is more convenient under an uncertain environment. The α-cut approach is applied with the conventional Zadeh's extension principle (ZEP) to transform the triangular membership functions (Mem. Fs) fuzzy queues into a family of conventional b

The research aims to identify the importance of applying resource consumption accounting in the Iraqi industrial environment in general, and oil in particular, and its role in reducing the costs of activities by excluding and isolating idle energy costs, as the research problem represents that the company faces deficiencies and challenges in applying strategic cost tools. The research was based on The hypothesis that the application of resource consumption accounting will lead to the provision of appropriate information for the company through the allocation of costs properly by resource consumption accounting and then reduce the costs of activities. To prove the hypothesis of the research, the Light Derivatives Authority - Al-Dora Refin

Dynamic monitoring of saturated stiff clay soil foundation structure by falling weight deflectometer system under impact loads sensors effect
...Show More Authors

Experiments research is done to determine how saturated stiff clayey soil responds to a single impulsive load. Models made of saturated, stiff clay were investigated. To supply the single pulse energy, various falling weights from various heights were tested using the falling weight deflectometer (FWD). Dynamic effects can range from the major failure of a sensitive sensor or system to the apparent destruction of structures. This study examines the response of saturated stiff clay soil to a single impulsive load (vertical displacement at the soil surface below and beside the bearing plates). Such reactions consist of displacements, velocities, and accelerations caused by the impact occurring at the surface depth induced by the impact loads

Finite Element Modeling of One-Way Recycled Aggregate Concrete Slabs Strengthened using Near-Surface Mounted CFRPs under Repeated Loading
...Show More Authors

This study offers numerical simulation results using the ABAQUS/CAE version 2019 finite element computer application to examine the performance, and residual strength of eight recycle aggregate RC one-way slabs. Six strengthened by NSM CFRP plates were presented to study the impact of several parameters on their structural behavior. The experimental results of four selected slabs under monotonic load, plus one slab under repeated load, were validated numerically. Then the numerical analysis was extended to different parameters investigation, such as the impact of added CFRP length on ultimate load capacity and load-deflection response and the impact of concrete compressive strength value on the structural performance of
