In the present study, advanced oxidation process / heterogeneous photocatalytic process (UV/TiO₂/Fenton) system was investigated to the treatment of oily wastewater. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of hydrogen peroxide concentration H₂O₂, initial amount of the iron catalyst Fe⁺², pH, temperature, amount of TiO₂ and the concentration of oil in the wastewater.  The removal efficiency for the system UV/TiO₂/Fenton at optimal conditions and dosage (H₂O₂ = 400mg/L, Fe⁺² = 40mg/L, pH=5, temperature =30^oC, TiO₂=75mg/L) for 1000mg/L load was found to be 77%.

Iron is one of the abundant elements on earth that is an essential element for humans and may be a troublesome element in water supplies.  In this research an AAN model was developed to predict iron concentrations in the location of Al- Wahda water treatment plant in Baghdad city by water quality assessment of iron concentrations at seven WTPs up stream Tigris River. SPSS software was used to build the ANN model. The input data were iron concentrations in the raw water for the period 2004-2011. Generally, direct measurement of soil compression index (Cc) is expensive and time-consuming. To save time and effort, indirect methods to obtain Cc may be an inexpensive option. Usually, the indirect methods are based on a correlation between some easier measuring descriptive variables such as liquid limit, soil density, and natural water content. This study used the ANFIS and regression methods to obtain Cc indirectly.
