Background: Hair loss is a common distressing disease and challenging problem for many dermatologist. Telogen effluvium is the most common hair loss disease in which nutritional deficiencies may precipitate the disease through their effect on hair structure and growth.

Study Aim : Validating role of serum ferritin level and body mass index in Chronic Telogen Effluvium and analyzing association between these factors with socioeconomic, demographic, gynecological factors and weight loss effect. Establishing a nutritional preventive advice to improve treatment successfulness and decrease the disease occurrence.

Methods :  A case series study on 327 chronic telogen effluvium patients (15-65 years old) main teaching dermatological outpatients' clinics in Baghdad. Data were collected by direct interview and questionnaire filling to analyze the associations between variables set in the data collection tool with serum ferritin level and body mass, which in turn may precipitate chronic telogen effluvium.

Results :Mean patients' age was 39±9 years, 93.6% of patients had serum ferritin below normal for hair cycle requirement (≤70μg/l). Serum ferritin significantly associated with age (p value= 0.002) and 41.1% of poor socioeconomic patients had serum ferritin ≤20μg/l.

Nearly half of the patients with ≥3 pregnancies, 43.9% of patients on weight-losing diet and 52.7% of those who actually lost weight had low ferritin levels with statistically significant associations. Being obese is a risk factor for having low serum ferritin (OR= 0.297).

Conclusion : Serum ferritin found to be ≤ 70μg/l in the majority of chronic telogen effluvium patients, which is significantly associated with patients' socioeconomic status, age, and weight status.

الوصف In this time, most researchers toward about preparation of compounds according to green chemistry. This research describes the preparation of 2-fluoro-5-(substituted benzylideneamino) benzonitrile under reflux and microwave methods. Six azomethine compounds (B1-6) were synthesized by two methods under reflux and assisted microwave with the comparison between the two methods. Reflux method was prepared of azomethine (B1-6) by reaction of 5-amino-2-fluorobenzonitrile with some aldehyde derivatives with (50–100) mL of absolute ethanol and some quantity of GAA and time is limited between (2–5) hours with a yield between (60–70) percent with recrystallization for appropriate solvents. But the microwave-assisted method was synthe

The Correlation between Serum Total Adiponectin and Hemoglobin in Type 2 Diabetic Patients without Microalbuminuria
...Show More Authors

Low serum total adiponectin is associated with a high incidence of type 2 diabetes or coronary artery disease in the general population. Paradoxically, serum total adiponectin is elevated in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), such as overt diabetic nephropathy. The current study aimed to investigate whether or not  anemia to be dependently associated with serum level of total adiponectin in  non-albuminuric male patients with type 2 diabetes . The study included 42 type 2 diabetic male patients. Anemia was defined as hemoglobin (Hb) below 14.0g/dL. All the patients were without microalbuminuria, to exclude diabetic nephropathy. The diabetic patients were divided into 2 groups according to the hemoglobin level in ad

The study aimed to investigate the relationship between the multiple intelligence and the numerical sense. The chosen population of the study was the 4th secondary stage students. The sample consisted of 400 female and male student. The researcher utilized two test; multiple intelligence test which include three categories of intelligence (logical-mathematical, spatial, and linguistics) consisted of (36) item, and the numerical sense test that consisted of (44) item. The two tests were constructed by the researcher himself. The psychometric properties of the test were also verified. The results showed that there was a correlation between the multiple intelligence and the numerical sense as well as the students’ means scores

Effectiveness of Ombitasvir with Paritaprevir/Ritonavir plus Ribavirin on the Treatment of Naïve Patients with Chronic Hepatitis C Virus Genotype 4
...Show More Authors

Background Direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) combination therapies from various mechanisms of action and families have been revolutionized the management landscape of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV). Ombitasvir, paritaprevir with ritonavir (OBV/PTV/r) ± ribavirin (RBV) is approved to treat HCV genotype 4 (GT4) infection. Here, our objective was to delineate the efficacy and safety of OBV/PTV/r plus RBV in treating of Egyptian naïve patients infected with HCV GT4.

Methods a cohort of 100 Egyptian patients infected with HCV GT4 was allocated and administered orally OBV/PTV/r with RBV. The primary endpoint of our study was a sustained virological response (HCV RNA < 12 IU/mL) 12 weeks after the c
