The Combination of Noninvasive Tests and Fibroscan for the Assessment of Liver Fibrosis among Patients with Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease
...Show More Authors

Background: Most prevalent chronic liver disease in developed and developing nations is non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. From fatty liver, which often has benign, non-progressive clinical history, to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, a more serious variant of fatty liver that can lead to cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease encompasses broad spectrum of diseases. The gold standard for determining extent of hepatic fibrosis is still liver biopsy; however, number of noninvasive tests have been established to make diagnosis and assess effectiveness of treatment.

Objective: Aim of study was to assess effectiveness of the combination of fibroscan and noninvasive biochemical tests and scoring systems for assessing liver fibrosis.

Subjects and Methods: Cross-sectional prospective study conducted at outpatient clinic of Baghdad Gastroenterology and Hepatology Teaching Hospital from October 2018-March 2020. One hundred patients with fatty liver selected and subjected to specific questionnaires.

Results: One hundred patients with fatty liver studied; fifty-five (55%) males, forty-five (45%) females. Mean age was (45 ±12.24) years, females were significantly older. Mean stiffness score was 11.7(SD:5.29) KPa. Forty-six (46%) patients had advanced fibrosis. The Positive correlation between FibroScan examination results and the noninvasive scores results was significant, as well as there was significant positive correlation between age and stiffness score and significant negative correlation between platelet count and stiffness score.

Conclusions: This study showed that half patients showed advanced fibrosis, highlighting the need for early detection and management of fatty liver patients. Implementation of FibroScan with noninvasive fibrosis scoring tools has been shown to be helpful in this situation.

Computerized measurement of bite forces for edentulous subjects with denture bases of different impression techniques
...Show More Authors

Background: Complete denture wearers show lower levels of bite force than dentate subjects. This has a significant influence on their chewing efficiency. In this study an attempt was made to investigate the effect of the impression technique on the maximum bite force in complete denture wearers. Materials and methods: The patients selected for this research were 12 edentulous patients. Three different techniques for registering the final impression were made; the mucostatic, mucofunctional, and the selective pressure impression technique. Two sets of upper and lower denture bases and one set of upper and lower dentures were constructed for each subject. Intraoral and extraoral instruments and devices, as well as a computer program were used

Externally Bonded CFRP for Flexural Strengthening of RC Beams with Different Levels of Soffit Curvature
...Show More Authors

This paper reports a comprehensive study on the behavior of concavely curved soffit reinforced concrete (RC) beams strengthened in flexure with carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites under static loading. The main objective of this paper is to explore the effect of surface concavity on the bond performance of externally bonded wet layup CFRP sheets and laminates. An experimental program consisting of flexural strengthening of 24 RC beams with concavely curved soffits was carried out. All specimens were simply supported RC beams tested under three-point bending. Of the 24 beams, 6 beams were flat soffit RC beams, and the remainder were fabricated with concavely curved soffits with a degree of curvature that is ranging from 5 mm/m

The Effectiveness of Calcaneal Drilling for Treatment of Resistance Cases of Plantar Heel Pain
...Show More Authors

Background: Plantar heel pain is a clinical syndrome characterized by pain and tenderness beneath the heel which is typically worse in the morning and improves after the first few steps in the day. It is a common and frequently disabling clinical complaint that may be caused by a broad spectrum of osseous or soft tissue disorders.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of an operation of multiple drilling of calcaneum for resistant plantar heel pain syndrome.

Methods: During the period from November 2012 to August 2016, 17 patients (17heels) were enrolled in a cohort clinical study at the orthopedic unit in AL-Sheikh Zayed and Al-Wassity Hospitals.

Application of Geographic Information System for Preparing the Bill of Quantities of Construction Projects
...Show More Authors

The information required for construction quantities surveying is not only generated by various participants in different construction phases but also stored in different forms including graphics, text, tables, or various combinations of the three. To report a bill of quantities (BOQ), the project manager has to continuously excerpt information from various resources and record it on papers. Without adequate staff and time, this repetitive and tedious process is difficult for the project manager to handle properly and thus reduces the effectiveness and the accuracy of the quantities surveying process which creates problems during the design, tender, and construction supervision of construction projects for designers and contractors pract

The Overlap of Visions between the Scenographer and the Director in the Theatrical Show
...Show More Authors

After the spread of the function of the scenographer in the modern theater, his vision has become present in most of the theatrical works and because the director is the master of the work and the owner of the vision that appears in front of the audience, the overlap between the visions of each of them was required. This research is an attempt to detect the overlap and disengagement in the work of each of them.
The research is divided into a methodological framework that included the research problem, importance, limits, and purpose, and then the definition of terms. In the theoretical framework, the research dealt with two theoretical sections that pave the way for raising ideas related to this subject: the first section (scenography
