Mercury, arsenic, cadmium and lead, were measured in sediment samples of river and marine environmental of Basra governorate in southern of Iraq. Sixteen sites of sediment were selected and distributed along Shatt Al-Arab River and the Iraqi marine environment. The samples were distributed among one station on Euphrates River before its confluence with Tigris River and Shatt Al-Arab formation, seven stations along Shatt Al-Arab River and eight stations were selected from the Iraqi marine region. This research revolves around the study of sports press coverage to the third African Youth Games that took place in Algeria from 19 to 28 July 2018. The games featured approximately 3000 athletes from 54 countries who competed in 27 sports. Five sports were qualified for the Youth Olympic Games in Argentina. The aim of this study was to analyze the content of the Algerian newspaper Ennahar El-Djadid by focusing on the discussions of various sports activities during the event. Thus, the descriptive approach and content analysis method were adopted for this research. They were used to highlight the newspaper's interest in this sports phenomenon. The study addressed the change in the nature of the land cover of the Al-Jadriya Twist area for the period from 1976-2024 with an area of (140 km2)and for a period of (48 years) based on satellite images and their analysis using geographic information systems. The main classifications of the area were reached (water cover, residential areas, vegetation cover, in addition to empty, unused areas). The extracted data indicate a decrease in the water cover and the change rate reached (-14.29) and the residential areas increased with a change rate of (28.26), while the vegetation cover rate was recorded from (45 km2) to (66 km2) and the empty areas had a change rate of (-78.57).
The purpose of this study is to elucidate the microfacies and the biozones present in the studied rocks as well as to determine their environments or deposition. The study depends mainly on the benthonic foraminiferal assemblages identified from (27) rock thin sections made available from an outcrop at Wadi Banat Al-Hassan area in the Upper Euphrates Valley. X-Ray diffraction was also used to determine the type of carbonate minerals present in the studied rocks.
The object of the presented study was to monitor the changes that had happened in the main features (water, vegetation, and soil) of Al-Hammar Marsh region. To fulfill this goal, different satellite images had been used in different times, MSS 1973, TM 1990, ETM+ 2000, 2002, and MODIS 2009, 2010. A new technique of the unsupervised classification called (Color Extracting Technique) was used to classify the satellite images. MATLAP programming used the technique and separated Al-Hammar Marsh from other water features (rivers, irrigated lands, etc.) when calculated the changes in the water content of the study region. ArcGIS 9.3 (arcMAP, arcToolbox) were used to achieve this work and calculate area of each class.
