This study focuses on the writing skill which is a social act .Students need to express
themselves in writing, but students of History and Geography departments are poor in
writing. This study aims at identifying and classifying the errors committed by the
students, and then giving remedies.
Writing can be considered as a channel or as a goal of language learning.
Students learn to write in a foreign language. Writing as a goal basically focuses on
the development of writing skills to fulfill such purposes as note-taking, summarizing,
narrating, reporting and replying required for various real-life situation
(Mechalakelli,2007)
Students at Departments of Geography and History study English as a part of
their syllabus requirement in the College of Education for Women. The researcher
realizes that it is important to improve students' skills in writing because it is an
important tool to their profession and for further education in the future. Therefore,
this study is an attempt to evaluate the writing skills of the second class evening
students (History and Geography)Departments.
The students are asked to write a paragraph on topics based on their reading
passages, chosen from their prescribed textbooks. They had been trained to construct
a well- organized paragraph in their preparatory schools for three years until their
graduation. Hence, the study attempts to find the students' errors in their writing in
English.
This research aims at identifying the level of Reflective Judgment for University students in term of gender and stage. To this end, the researcher used Khaleel's scale (2016) for the Reflective Judgment. The scale was administered to the sample of the study which is (200) male and female level first-fourth university students. The results have shown that university students are on the level five of the Reflective Judgment, and the first-stage students have reflective judgment more than fourth-stage students. In the light of these results, the researcher has come with a number of recommendations and suggestions.
This study aimed to measure the innovative thinking and cognitive cessation among university students. The sample consisted of (400) male and female students at al Mustansiriya University for the academic year (2018/2019). The results of the study showed that there are differences in innovative thinking and cognitive inhibition according to the gender variable in favor of males. There is a positive relationship between innovative thinking and cognitive inhibition. In light of these findings, the researcher presented a set of conclusions and recommendations.
The study aimed to identify the awareness degree of teacher students in the department of Arabic language and their supervisors at Al-aqsa University for their future roles in the age of knowledge. To achieve this objective, descriptive- analytical approach was used. The instruments of this study were two questionnaires: first one consist of (20) item for teacher students, and the second consist of (27) item for educational supervisors which covered three roles: professional, technological, and humanitarian. The sample was (120) student selected randomly, and (39) supervisors of Arabic language. Methodology: The study sample included (184) women in the Ibn Rushd College / University of
Baghdad, whose age ranged between (17-58) years. Data were collected through a structured
