Old New York was Wharton's term to describe this wealthy and elite class at the top of
the developing city's social hierarchy, a society which was utterly intent on maintaining its
own rigid stability. Even though, the roles of women in American society changed drastically
from 1820’s to 1860’s due to the civil war and such a progression was due in part to the
revolutionary thoughts. Women started taking their right to speak up openly and frankly and
become more like men. The role of many women had changed from being homemaker to
being able to provide for the family by either getting a job or start to be allowed to have a
voice. They had important roles not only in helping the family, but in sharing to rebuild the
nation. As a whole, they helped to clean up the process of urbanization and immigration,
helping literature grow and helping change the ongoing problem of woman’s suffrage. Old
New York society to which Edith Wharton belonged did not give equality to women in legal,
economic, and sexual matters. The society considered woman supremely satisfying object of
masculine possession. Old New York imposed on its members set rules and expectations for
practically everything; manners, fashions, behaviors, and even conversations.
Edith Wharton focuses on female’s characters more than men in her novels. She tries
to show the sufferings of women and her society attitudes towards them, especially the
divorced women. Countess Ellen Olenska represents the major female character in The Age of
Innocence .She is considered a perfect example of women’s agony. Wharton presents Ellen
Olenska as the sophisticate, a woman who has been lived amid the aristocracy of Europe and
has seen the different world. Her style of dress and her manners are exotic to New York eyes,
especially in her interactions with men. Everything about Olenska signaled her foreignness.
She is delineated as the victim of old New York society. New York is again the center of
bizarre traditions and customs.
The matter of Divorce and leaving a husband is unacceptable in New York society.
Ellen wants to go home, to people who would accept her but she finds the society she is
heading to be not easily accessible and also is not willing to receive anyone from the outside
world. Ellen feels alienated and trapped when she returns to New York society. She wishes to
reclaim her freedom by divorcing her husband, but she is discouraged from this action
because all the people around her especially her family fear unpleasant gossip.
Ellen is not a mere character. She is a new heroine and representative because she
stands for all female characters who try to make changes in Old New society.
Bipedal robotic mechanisms are unstable due to the unilateral contact passive joint between the sole and the ground. Hierarchical control layers are crucial for creating walking patterns, stabilizing locomotion, and ensuring correct angular trajectories for bipedal joints due to the system’s various degrees of freedom. This work provides a hierarchical control scheme for a bipedal robot that focuses on balance (stabilization) and low-level tracking control while considering flexible joints. The stabilization control method uses the Newton–Euler formulation to establish a mathematical relationship between the zero-moment point (ZMP) and the center of mass (COM), resulting in highly nonlinear and coupled dynamic equations. Therefore, the proper and proficient treatment of these dyes contaminated left-over material before their release is crucial. Herein, an eco-friendly biological macromolecule Gum-Acacia (GA) integrated Fe3O4 nanoparticles composite hydrogel was manufactured via co-precipitation technique for effective adsorption of Congo red (CR) dye existing in water bodies. The as-prepared magnetic GA/Fe3O4 composite hydrogel was characterized by FTIR, XRD, EDX, VSM, SEM, and BET techniques. These studies discovered the fruitful fabrication of biodegradable magnetic GA/Fe3O4 composite hydrogel possessing porous structure with large surface are

This study aims to evaluate integrated geological, petrophysical, seismic, and geomechanical data to identify the optimum zones for well placement. Three different reservoirs were analyzed to account for lateral and vertical variations in reservoir properties. The integrated data from these reservoirs provides many tools for reservoir development, especially to detect appropriate well placement zones based on evaluations of reservoir and geomechanical quality. Compound (Ma1) was dissolved in DMF and mixed with p-hydroxybenzaldehyde which was previously dissolved with pyridine to obtain the aldehyde derivative (Ma2). In the final step, derivatives of Schiff bases were synthesized by reacting the aldehyde (Ma2) with a number of different aromatic primary amines in the presence of glacial acetic acid to obtain the new derivatives Ma [3-10]. The new prepared compounds were characterized by melting points and with spectral data FT-IR, 13C-NMR and 1H-MNR (some of them). The vital effectiven

Three factors were studied. 1st factor was three cultivars (Inqath, Rabeh, and Buhoth70). 2nd factor was seed priming (primed and unprimed seed). Seed were primed by soaking for 12 hours in a solution containing 300 + 70 mg L−1 of gibberellic (GA3) and salicylic (SA) acids, respectively. 3rd factor was irrigation with saline water (6, 9 and 12 dS m−1) resulting from dissolving sodium chloride in distilled water in addition to control treatment (distilled water). Randomized complete block design was used with four replications. In both seasons: the results sh

Methodology: "Follow-up" longitudinal design by using time series approach of data
analysis and the application of pre-post tests approach for the study and the control
groups. The study was carried out at Ibn Al-Kuff hospital for (SCI) in Baghdad governorate
from 5th of July 2010 to 15th of October 2011. To achieve the objectives of the study, a

This investigation integrates experimental and numerical approaches to study a novel solar air heater aimed at achieving an efficient design for a solar collector suitable for drying applications under the meteorological conditions of Iraq. The importance of this investigation stems from the lack of optimal exploitation of solar energy reaching the solar collector, primarily attributable to elevated thermal losses despite numerous designs employed in such solar systems. Consequently, enhancing the thermal performance of solar collectors, particularly those employed in crop drying applications, stands as a crucial focal point for researchers within this domain. Two identical double-pass solar air heaters were designed and constructed for

The powder mixture was then sintered in a furnace at 1273 K for 5 h. The resulting powders were thoroughly ground and then pressed using a special press to form discs with a diameter of 1 cm and a thickness of 0.5 cm. The deposition was carried out under a vacuum of 2.5×10−2 mbar on various substrates, including glass for AFM measurements and n-type crystalline silicon wafers for the gas sensor. AFM results revealed a progressive increase in both grain size and roughness with moderate doping and irregularity at high doping levels. Gas-sensing meas
