Assessment of some salivary enzymes levels in type 2 diabetic patients with chronic periodontitis (Clinical and biochemical study)
...Show More Authors

Background: Diabetic patients have been reported to be more susceptible to gingivitis and periodontitis than healthy subjects. Many intracellular enzymes like (alkaline phosphatase- (ALP), aspartate aminotransferase- (AST) and alanine aminotransferase- (ALT) that are released outside cells into the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) and saliva after destruction of periodontal tissue during periodontitis. This study was conducted to determine the periodontal health status and the levels of salivary enzymes (ALP, AST and ALT) of the study and control groups and to correlate the levels of these enzymes with clinical periodontal parameters in each study group. Subjects, Materials and Methods: One hundred subjects were enrolled in the study, with an age range of (35-50) years, only males were included. The subjects were divided intostudy groups (group-I consists of 30 patients with controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM), group-II consists of 30 patients with uncontrolled T2DM, group-III consists of 25 patients non-diabetics, all of them have chronic periodontitis(CP) and group-IV consists of 15 apparently- systemically healthy subjects and have healthy periodontium, as control group. Unstimulated saliva samples were collected for biochemical analysis of salivary enzymes (ALP, AST and ALT).The clinical periodontal parameters including: plaque index (PLI), gingival index (GI), bleeding on probing (BOP), probing pocket depth (PPD) and clinical attachment level (CAL) were recorded for all subjects at four sites per tooth except third molars. Results: All clinical periodontal and biochemical parameters were highest in uncontrolled T2DM with CP patients and all enzymes levels revealed highly significant differencesbetween all pairs of the study and control groups except AST enzyme level which demonstrated a non-significant difference between controlled T2 diabetics with CP and non-diabetics with CP. There were weak correlations between all clinical periodontal parameters and biochemical parameters except between PPDand ALT enzyme in non-diabetics with CP group and between CAL and AST enzyme in uncontrolled T2 diabetics with CP which demonstrated highly significant strong positive correlations. Conclusion: It was concluded that T2DM and poor glycemic control have negative impact on periodontal health status. Salivary enzymes were considered as good biochemical markers of periodontal tissue destruction and useful in diagnosis, monitoring and efficient management of periodontal diseases and T2DM. Key words: Enzymes, saliva, type 2 diabetes mellitus, periodontal diseases.

Nuclear structure investigation of some neutron-rich halo nuclei
...Show More Authors

The ground state proton, neutron and matter densities, the corresponding rms radii and charge form factors of a dripline nuclei 6He, 11Li, 12Be and 14Be have been studied via a three–body model of (Core + n + n). The core–neutron interaction takes the form of Woods-Saxon (WS) potential. The two valence neutrons of 6He, 11Li and 12Be interact by the realistic interaction of ZBMII while those of 14Be interact via the realistic interaction of VPNP. The core and valence (halo) density distributions are described by the single-particle wave functions of the WS potential. The calculated results are discussed and compared with the experimental data. The long tail performance is clearly noticed in the calculated neutron and matter density distr

Some electrical properties of PVA:PEG/MnCl2 thin film composites
...Show More Authors

PVA:PEG/MnCl2 composites have been prepared by adding (MnCl2) to the mixture of the poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) and poly ethylene glycol (PEG) with different weight percentages (0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10) wt.% by using casting method. The type of charge carriers, concentration (nH) and Hall mobility (μH) have been estimated from Hall measurements and show that the films of all concentration have a negative Hall coefficient. In D.C measurement increase temperature leads to decrease the electrical resistance. The D.C conductivity of the composites increases with the increasing of the concentration of additive particles and temperature. The activation energy decreases for all composites with increasing the concentration of the additive particles.

Some parameters for the resize graph of G2(4)
...Show More Authors

Topological indices provide important insights into the structural characteristics of molecular graphs. The present investigation proposes and explores a creative graph on a finite group G, which is known as the RIG. This graph is designated as ΓRS G2(4) indicating a simple undirected graph containing elements of G. Two distinct ertices are regarded as nearly the same if and only if their sum yields a non-trivial involution element in G. RIGs have been discovered in various finite groups. We examine several facets of the RIG by altering the graph through the conjugacy classes of G. Furthermore, we investigate the topological indices as applications in graph theory applying the distance matrix of the G2(4) group.

Bayes Estimator as a Function of Some Classical Estimator
...Show More Authors

Maximum likelihood estimation method, uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimation method and minimum mean square error estimation, as classical estimation procedures, are frequently used for parameter estimation in statistics, which assuming the parameter is constant , while Bayes method assuming the parameter is random variable and hence the Bayes estimator is an estimator which minimize the Bayes risk for each value the random observable and for square error lose function the Bayes estimator is the posterior mean. It is well known that the Bayesian estimation is hardly used as a parameter estimation technique due to some difficulties to finding a prior distribution.

The interest of this paper is that
