Fracture resistance of weakened premolars restored with sonically-activated composite, bulk-filled and incrementally-filled composites(A comparative in vitro study)
...Show More Authors

Background: This study was conducted to assess the effect of sonic activation and bulk placement of resin composite in comparison to horizontal incremental placement on the fracture resistance of weakened premolar teeth. Materials and method: Sixty sound human single-rooted maxillary premolars extracted for orthodontic purposes were used in this study. Teeth were divided into six groups of ten teeth each: Group 1 (sound unprepared teeth as a control group), Group 2 (teeth prepared with MOD cavity and left unrestored), Group 3 (restored with SonicFill™ composite), Group 4 (restored with Quixfil™ composite), Group 5 (restored with Tertic EvoCeram® Bulk Fill composite) and Group 6 (restored with Universal Tetric EvoCeram® composite using horizontal incremental layering technique). Standardized class II MOD cavity was prepared in all teeth except (group 1).After finishing the restorative procedure of each group according to the manufacturer's instructions, all teeth were stored in deionized distilled water in an incubator at 37°C for seven days. All specimens were subjected to compressive axial loading until fracturein a universal testingmachine.Specimens were examined by a stereomicroscope at a magnification of (20X) to evaluate the mode of fracture . Results: The results of this study revealed that the control group exhibited the highest fracture resistance compared to all prepared teeth groups (restored or unrestored) and the differences were statistically highly significant (P<0.01), except with group 3 (which was restored with SonicFill™ composite) where the difference was statistically significant only (P < 0.05).Additionally the results of this study revealed that the prepared unrestored teeth (Group 2) exhibited the lowest fracture resistance compared to all restored groups and the differences were statistically highly significant (P<0.01). Meanwhile, among the restored teeth groups, teeth restored with SonicFill™ composite (group 3) exhibited the highest fracture resistance as compared with all other restored groups and the difference was statistically highly significant (P<0.01). On the other hand, no statistically significant differences in fracture resistance were found among groups 4, 5 and 6, which were restored with Quixfil™ composite, Tetric EvoCeram® Bulk Fill composite and Universal Tetric EvoCeram® composite, respectively (P > 0.05). Group 3and Group 5 showed mostly mixed mode of failure, while Group 4 showed mostly adhesive mode of failure. On the other hand Group 6 teeth showed different modes of failure. Conclusions: SonicFill™ composite can be considered as a viable treatment modality for the restoration of weakened maxillary premolar teeth. On the other hand, the time-consuming incremental layering technique can be substituted with bulk filling, using bulk fill materials (Quixfil™ and Tetric EvoCeram® Bulk Fill) for reinforcement ofweakened maxillary premolars.

Predicting Biochemical Oxygen Demand at the Inlet of Al-Rustumiya Wastewater Treatment Plant Using Different Mathematical Techniques
...Show More Authors

Water quality planning relies on Biochemical Oxygen Demand BOD. BOD testing takes five days. The Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is increasingly used for water resource forecasting. This work designed a PSO technique for estimating everyday BOD at Al-Rustumiya wastewater treatment facility inlet. Al-Rustumiya wastewater treatment plant provided 702 plant-scale data sets during 2012-2022. The PSO model uses the daily data of the water quality parameters, including chemical oxygen demand (COD), chloride (Cl-), suspended solid (SS), total dissolved solids (TDS), and pH, to determine how each variable affects the daily incoming BOD. PSO and multiple linear regression (MLR) findings are compared, and their perfor

The Potential of Gundelia Seeds Waste as an Emerging Sustainable Adsorbent for Methylene Blue-Polluted Water Treatment
...Show More Authors

Gundelia, a genus of flowering plants native to the Mediterranean region, particularly in Iraq, holds promise as a sustainable adsorbent for the treatment of dye-polluted water. This study explores the potential of Gundelia seeds (GS) waste as a biobased adsorbent for removing methylene blue dye from synthesized wastewater. Utilizing various analytical techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), we assessed GS as an active adsorbent with performance comparable to fabricated and expensive composites. Key parameters such as pH (3-11), pH at the point of zero charge, temperature (298-328 K), dose (0.02-0.1 g), dye concentration (10-50 ppm), and

Contribution of Some Managerial Accounting Techniques to Achieve Market Share Requirements / Applied researchin the Al-Muthanna Cement Company
...Show More Authors

The research aims to achieve market share requirements and reach the targeted competitive price through the application of management accounting techniques represented by continuous improvement technique and target costing under an Activity Based Cost (ABC) system and Activity Based Management (ABM), In Muthanna Cement Company to reach the rationalization of the cost of the product and maintain the required quality and improve the profitability of the company.

The problem of research has emerged in the inability of local firms to enter into effective competition with other companies operating in the same economic sector, Because of the high cost of its products, Which led to the sale of the product at prices below its cost, and t

α-TOCOPHEROL FOLIAR APPLICATION CAN ALLEVIATE THE ADVERSE EFFECT OF SALINITY STRESS ON WHEAT PLANT, TRITICUM AESTIVUM L.
...Show More Authors

Pots experiment was conducted at the greenhouse of botanical garden belong to Department of Biology, College of Education for Pure Science, Ibn-AL-Haithum, University of Baghdad, for growth season 2018-2019. The aim of the experiment was to study the effects of foliar application of a-tocopherol concentrations (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 mg.L-1) on growth parameters and the activity of some antioxidant enzymes of wheat plant irrigated with sodium chloride concentrations (0, 75, 150, 225) mM.L-1. Salinity reduced plant growth parameter, plant height, flag leaf area, flag leaf chlorophyll content and increased the activity of antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase and peroxidase. Plant growth parameters were enhanced by foliar application of a-t

Efficient design of neural network based on modified LM training algorithm for solving nonlinear 4th order 3D-PDEs
...Show More Authors

Authors in this work design efficient neural networks, which are based on the modified Levenberg - Marquardt (LM) training algorithms to solve non-linear fourth - order three -dimensional partial differential equations in the two kinds in the periodic and in the non-periodic - Periodic. Software reliability growth models are essential tools for monitoring and evaluating the evolution of software reliability. Software defect detection events that occur during testing and operation are often treated as counting processes in many current models. However, when working with large software systems, the error detection process should be viewed as a random process with a continuous state space, since the number of faults found during testin
