The push out bond strength of bioceramic seal-er(Total Fill) after warm and cold obturation tech-niques An in vitro comparative
...Show More Authors

Background: The goal of a root canal treatment is three dimensional obturation with a complete seal of the root canal system. The aim of this study was to evaluate and compare the effect of two warm obturation techniques, warm vertical compaction (WVC) and, carrier based obturation technique Gutta Core (GC), versus two cold obturation techniques, cold lateral compaction (CLC) and, single cone (SC) on push-out bond strength of bioceramic sealer (Total Fill) at three different root levels. Materials and Methods: Forty extracted maxillary first molars teeth with a straight round palatal root canal and mature apices were selected for this study. After sectioning the palatal roots to 11 mm from the root apex, the canals were prepared with EDGEENDO X7 rotary system file from size 20 up to size 40 taper 04. The samples were then randomly separated into four groups based on obturation procedures (each group n = 10), with group A: obturated by WVC, group B: GC, group C: CLC, and group D: SC. Following obturation, the teeth were kept in an incubator at 37°C and 100% humidity for two weeks. Three slices of 2 mm thickness were cut horizontally at 2, 4.5, and 7 mm from the root apex in each of the three sections (apical, middle and coronal). The data were investigated using one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test with a significance level (p< 0.05). A digital microscope with a magnification of 60 X was used to establish the failure mode. Results: There was a significant increase in push-out bond strength following canal obturation with GC and WVC, particularly at the apical third (9.48, and 8.11 MPa, respectively) , compared to canals obturated with SC and CLC in all root levels except the middle third, at the (p< 0.05) significance level. The cohesive mode of failure was the most prevalent in all groups. Conclusio: BC (TotalFill) sealer showed higher bond strength when used in WVC and GC compared to other techniques. SC and CLC  were showed comparable bond strength values.

In-vivo and In-vitro Anti-Acinetobacter Baumannii Activity of Citrate-Capped Silver Nanoparticles
...Show More Authors

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are of potential interest because of their effective antibacterial and antiviral activities. Capping agents are used for exhibiting a better antibacterial activity than uncapped Ag NPs. There are very few reports that have shown the usage of AgNPs for in-vivo antibacterial therapy. Citrate-capped silver nanoparticles were synthesized chemically by citrate reduction method; the size of Cit-AgNPs was determined by an atomic force microscope (AFM) and was between 15-90 nm. Acinetobacter baumannii (A. baumannii) isolates were the only sensitive species to Cit-AgNPs. MICs and MBC of Cit-AgNPs were determined by using A. baumannii. The results showed an additive effect of Cit-AgNPs. Four mice groups were infected with

Iraq’s Societal Security after 2003: Challenges and Countering Strategies
...Show More Authors

Societal security is regarded as a basic need for human society through which the stability, progress and prosperity of the nation is measured. It is the guarantor of the safety of individuals and groups from various internal and external dangers, based on the protection of the three pillars: the individual, the family, and society. For decades, Iraq has witnessed the phenomenon of political instability, represented by its entry into several wars, starting with the 1948 war, leading up to the American war on Iraq in 2003. Then, those wars were followed by an era in which corruption and terrorism spread, and this, in turn, led to the fragmentation of the national will and the division of Iraqi public opinion regarding many regional and inte

Preparation and in-vitro evaluation of Carbopol hydrogel of clobetasol-loaded ethylcellulose microsponges
...Show More Authors

: Clobetasol propionate (CP) is a potent corticosteroid used for skin conditions but often causes side effects due its systemic absorption. To improve its solubility and reduce it side effects (like skin irritation, skin atrophy, hypopigmentation and steroidal acne), Microsponge (Msg) has been employed as a unique three-dimensional particle that can encapsulate hydrophilic and lipophilic drugs. This study aims to develop and evaluate CP Msg-loaded hydrogels. Two Clobetasol-loaded ethylcellulose-based Msg formulas were prepared using the quasi-emulsion solvent diffusion method, then they were incorporated into Carbopol hydrogel. Two ratios of Carbopol 940 (1% and 1.5% w/w) were used. The prepared hydrogel were assessed for appearance, pH, dr
