...Show More Authors

Background: Personality could be defined broadly as those characteristics of individuals that describe the pattern of feeling, cognition and behaving. Personality types can be measured by using one of personality type’s measures. Personality has been proposed to influence the oral health. The purpose of the present study was to assess the influence of Personality Types on caries experience in relation to salivary testosterone hormone among teachers in Baghdad city. Materials and Methods: Female teachers (n=534) of randomly selected schools were subjected to personality questionnaire using The Riso-Hudson Enneagram Type Indicator. Teachers were examined to estimate the caries experience according to the decayed-missing and filled index (DMFS). A group of teachers were randomly selected from the total sample for salivary analysis of testosterone. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 18 software. A probability value less than 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results: Data analysis showed that the higher percentage of teachers was Helpers as the dominant Type. The results showed statistical high significant differences in mean values of DMFS among the nine Personality Types. No significant correlation was found between salivary testosterone concentration (pg /ml) with the scores of the Nine Personality Types. No significant correlation was found between salivary testosterone concentration (pg/ml) and caries experience. Conclusions: The identification of Personality Types and their relations with dental caries can permit the assessment of the individual's susceptibility and facilitate the improvement of the individual's oral health. Keywords: Personality Types, caries experience, salivary testosterone.

Urban expansion and its environmental and safety effects are one of the critical information needed for future development planning, safety considerations and environmental management. This work used two methods to monitor urban expansion and it's environmental and safety effects, the first is based on Google Maps for the years 2002 and 2010, and the second was the usage of spatial videos for the year 2013. Although the usage of satellite images is critical to know and investigate the general situation and the total effects of the expansion on a large piece of area, but the Spatial videos do a very detailed fine scale investigation, site conditions regarding both environmental and safety cannot be easily distinguished fr

Self-Limiting versus Conventional Caries Removal: A Randomized Clinical Trial
...Show More Authors

A single-blind randomized controlled clinical trial in patients with deep caries and symptoms of reversible pulpitis compared outcomes from a self-limiting excavation protocol using chemomechanical Carisolv gel/operating microscope (self-limiting) versus selective removal to leathery dentin using rotary burs (control). This was followed by pulp protection with mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and restoration with glass ionomer cement and resin composite, all in a single visit. The pulp sensibility and periapical health of teeth were assessed after 12 mo, in addition to the differences in bacterial tissue concentration postexcavation. Apical radiolucencies were assessed using cone beam computed tomography/periapical radiographs (CBC
