...Show More Authors

Background: Chief complaint of patients attending dental clinic represents the first step towards treatment plan. However, most of patients are not aware but the extent and severity of periodontal disease, which could be also, misdiagnose by the dentist. Aim of the study: To investigate whether reported chief complaint(s) are consistent with oral hygiene status Materials and methods: Records of 1102 patients, attending periodontics clinics in the college of dentistry/ university of Baghdad, were used to determine ten most commonly reported chief complaints. Sample of patients was further subdivided according to gender and age. In addition, plaque and gingival index were recorded to determine oral hygiene status. Results: Patients mostly attend clinic of periodontics in response to motivation by dental students or staff members or referred from other department. Further, removal of stain or deposits from their teeth represented the highest chief complaint (32%). Other true periodontal signs were seldom reported in spite of significantly high plaque and gingival index (P<0.05) with increasing age. Conclusion: Nation-wide educational programs are needed due to discrepancy between reported chief and periodontal health status. In addition, the actual need of patients, which was mainly oriented towards scaling, reflects ignorance and lack of knowledge about nature and alarming signs of disease.

A retrospective study is conducted to identify factors that improve prospective animal studies; contribute to the optimization of animal protection from all unnecessary and preventable damage. Preclinical oral histology research from 2010-2020 is evaluated and 64 studies were reviewed relating to two interventions: bone trauma and surgical incision. The harm-benefit analysis is featured in this study through the application of the recent form of Bateson's Cube. Depending on its three axes, we can assess animal suffering, the likelihood of benefit, and the importance of research. The total number of animals used in the research is 2685. Rats, 51.6%, and rabbits, 48.4%, are the most commonly used animals. Research related to bone healing acco

For instance, the coronary steal effect during the myocardial hyperemia phase and that of restenosis following coronary angioplasty.

Artistic Signature's Aesthetic Consistency and Differentiation in Arabic Calligraphy
...Show More Authors

The artistic signature of calligraphers has been regarded as a significant aspect of Arabic calligraphy since its inception. As the art form evolved and acquired an aesthetic dimension, the artistic signature became an integral part of this dimension. The calligrapher failed to include his name on the frames, a practice that has become customary among calligraphers nowadays. This tradition allowed to trace the evolution of Arabic calligraphy and identify certain gaps in the calligraphy composition. Additionally, the inclusion of calligrapher's name contributes to the achievement of visual balance within the calligraphy composition, signifying consistency or formal separation. The current study concentrated to investigate the aesthet
