Gingival microleakage of composite restorations with different bonding protocol in class II cavity treated with chlorhexidine (an in-vitro study)
...Show More Authors

ABSTRACT Background: One of the challenges to use chlorhexidine is its effect on the amount of microleakage after restoration; however, use of the materials with antibacterial properties after tooth preparation and before restoration has been widespread. The objective of this, in-vitro, study was to evaluate the influence of consepsis (chlorhexidine gloconate disinfectant) application on microleakage in class II cavities restored with light cured composite using universal adhesive system; etch and rinse technique –self etch technique. Materials and Methods: Forty class II cavities were prepared on mesial and distal surfaces of 20 non-carious mandibular third molars. The cavities were divided into four groups; (n =10 for each group). G1: cavities were bonded with (single bond universal adhesive, 3MESPE) after etching with 35% phosphoric acid - etch and rinse technique, without chlorhexidine , G2: chlorhexidine was used after etching with 35% phosphoric acid, then cavities were bonded with (single bond universal adhesive, 3MESPE) - etch and rinse technique . G3: cavities were bonded with (single bond universal adhesive, 3MESPE) - self etch technique, without chlorhexidine, G4: The chlorhexidine was used before bonding. All groups were restored with non – hybrid composite resin (Z 350, 3MESPE). Micrlerackage was evaluated at gingival margin using methylene blue dye penetration method. In each cavity the dye penetration in millimeters was measured by strereomicroscope. Statistical analysis for the data was carried out using one-way ANOVA and LSD test. Results: Group G2 produced the least microleakage which is statistically highly significantly different than the remaining groups. Group G3 produced the highest microleakage which is statistically high significant difference than G1 and G2, but the difference is not significant with group G4. Conclusions: Consepsis can be used as cavity disinfectants when restoring the cavities with single bond universal adhesive as etch and rinse technique. However, its effect seems to be lower when using the single bond universal adhesive as self-etch technique.

Zinc (II) removal from simulated wastewater by electro-membrane extraction approach: Adopting an electrolysis cell with a flat sheet supported liquid membrane
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study is to utilize the electromembrane extraction (EME) system as a manner for effective removal of zinc from aqueous solutions. A novel and distinctive electrochemical cell design was adopted consisting of two glass chambers, a supported liquid membrane (SLM) housing a polypropylene flat membrane infused with 1-octanol and a carrier. Two electrodes were used, a graphite as anode and a stainless steel as cathode. A comprehensive examination of several influential factors including the choice of carrier, the applied voltage magnitude, the initial pH of the donor solution, and the initial concentration of zinc was performed, all in a concerted effort to ascertain their respective impacts on the efficiency of zinc elim

Free Vibration Analysis of Laminated Composite plates with General Elastic Boundary Supports
...Show More Authors

In this investigation, Rayleigh–Ritz method is used to calculate the natural frequencies of rectangular isotropic and laminated symmetric and anti-symmetric cross and angle ply composite plate with general elastic supports along its edges. Each of the admissible functions here is composed of a trigonometric function and an arbitrary continuous function that is introduced to ensure the sufficient smoothness of the so-called residual displacement function at the edges. Perhaps more importantly, this study has developed a general approach for deriving a complete set of admissible functions that can be applied to various boundary conditions. Several numerical examples are studied to demonstrate the accuracy and convergence of the current s

Flexural Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Beams Reinforced with 3D-Textile Composite Fiber
...Show More Authors

Normal concrete is weak against tensile strength, has low ductility, and also insignificant resistance to cracking. The addition of diverse types of fibers at specific proportions can enhance the mechanical properties as well as the durability of concrete. Discrete fiber commonly used, has many disadvantages such as balling the fiber, randomly distribution, and limitation of the Vf ratio used. Based on this vision, a new technic was discovered enhancing concrete by textile-fiber to avoid all the problems mentioned above. The main idea of this paper is the investigation of the mechanical properties of SCC, and SCM that cast with 3D AR-glass fabric having two different thicknesses (6, 10 mm), and different layers (1,2 laye

Flexural Behavior of Pultruded GFRP–Concrete Composite Beams Strengthened with GFRP Stiffeners
...Show More Authors

The utilization and incorporation of glass fiber-reinforced plastics (GFRP) in structural applications and architectural constructions are progressively gaining prominence. Therefore, this paper experimentally and numerically investigates the use of GFRP I-beams in conjunction with concrete slabs to form composite beams. The experimental design incorporated 2600 mm long GFRP I-beams which were connected compositely to concrete slabs with a 500 mm width and 80 mm thickness. The concrete slabs are categorized into two groups: concrete slabs cast using normal-strength concrete (NSC), and concrete slabs prepared using high-strength concrete (HSC). Various parameters like the type of concrete (normal and high-strength concrete), type of

Thermal Buckling Analysis of Laminated Composite plates with General Elastic Boundary Supports
...Show More Authors

In this study, the modified Rayleigh-Ritz method and Fourier series are used to determine the thermal buckling behavior of laminated composite thin plates with a general elastic boundary condition applied to in-plane uniform temperature distribution depending upon classical laminated plate theory(CLPT). A generalized procedure solution is developed for the Rayleigh-Ritz method combined with the synthetic spring technique. The transverse displacement of the orthotropic rectangular plates is not a different term as a new shape expansion of trigonometric series. In this solution approach, the plate transverse deflection and rotation due to bending are developed into principle Fourier series with a sufficient smoothness auxi

Impact Behavior of Composite Reinforced Concrete Beams with Pultruded I-GFRP Beam
...Show More Authors

The present study experimentally and numerically investigated the impact behavior of composite reinforced concrete (RC) beams with the pultruded I-GFRP and I-steel beams. Eight specimens of two groups were cast in different configurations. The first group consisted of four specimens and was tested under static load to provide reference results for the second group. The four specimens in the second group were tested first under impact loading and then static loading to determine the residual static strengths of the impacted specimens. The test variables considered the type of encased I-section (steel and GFRP), presence of shear connectors, and drop height during impact tests. A mass of 42.5 kg was dropped on the top surface at the m

Structural Performance of Internally Stiffened Double-Skinned Profiled Composite Walls with Openings
...Show More Authors

The double-skin profiled composite wall (DSPCW) system, filled with concrete material, is favorable in modern structures due to its high strength and ductility. Openings may be required within this composite wall (DSPCW) for various reasons, similar to a conventional bearing wall, which can lead to a reduction in bearing capacity. Therefore, to avoid changes in the geometry, materials, and thickness of this DSPCW wall, a new internally stiffening concept has been suggested by providing embedded cold-formed steel tube (CFST) columns. For this purpose, two full-scale DSPCW specimens were tested under static axial load, one of which was fabricated with a large opening size and stiffened with two octagonal CFST columns, while the other
