Background: Masseter muscle is one of the most obvious muscles of mastication and considered as one indicator of jaw muscle activity. It has a major influence on the transverse growth of the midface and the vertical growth of the mandible. This study undertaken to determine the role of cephalometric analysis for discrimination between Cl I and Cl III skeletal relationships, determine the role of ultrasonography in determination of masseter muscle thickness, compare masseter muscle thickness between Cl I and Cl III skeletal relationships, and determine the effect of gender on masseter muscle thickness. Material and Method: The sample of the current study consisted of 70 Iraqi subjects 40 males and 30 females with age ranging 18-25 years. They were divided into 2 groups depending on ANB angle: class I skeletal relationship 20 males and 15 females and class III skeletal relationship 20 males and 15 females. The collected sample included patients attended for different diagnostic purposes to the Dental Radiology Department at College of Dentistry/Babylon University, standardized lateral cephalogram was taken to determine facial morphology, six angular and eight linear measurements were assessed. Masseter muscle thickness measured ultrasonography in Al-Hilla General Teaching Hospital/Ultrasonorgaphic Department, in relaxation and contraction conditions for both sides. Results: Various parameters measured for males and females in each class and the comparison shown statistically significant differences between them (P<0.05). No difference in muscle thickness between right and left sides in the same class (P>0.05). Gender variation showed significant difference in masseter muscle thickness during rest and occlusion conditions (P<0.001). Conclusion: Cephalometric analysis served to demonstrate the skeletal morphologies and provide a base for discrimination between class I and class III skeletal relationships. Ultrasonographic scanning is an important imaging procedure. It is reproducible and simple method for accurately measuring masseter muscle thickness. The ultrasonorgaphic study has revealed variations in masseter muscle thickness among individuals with different skeletal morphologies in each gender on one hand and between males and females in each skeletal class on the other hand. Key words: Masseter muscle thickness, skeletal morphology, cephalometric analysis, ultrasonorgaphic scanning.
The childhood stage is considered the most important stage of all the stages through
the human being’s life. In this stage the human being will be more affected by the various
factors that surround him/her. The first five years of his/her life leave a great impact not only
on the human being personality, but also on his/her whole life. Therefore, it is worthwhile tobe concerned with and focus at the raising up and the teaching of the child during the
childhood stage.
The mission of raising up children in this era - the era of globalization and information
bursting or news flooding – has become a very difficult or even an impossible mission.
Furthermore, not only in the Arabic world, but also all over the world, t
Type 2 daibetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global concern boosted by both population growth and ageing, the majority of affected people are aged between (40- 59 year). The objective of this research was to estimate the impact of age and gender on glycaemic control parameters: Fasting blood glucose (FBC), glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C), insulin, insulin resistance (IR) and insulin sensitivity (IS), renal function parameters: urea, creatinine and oxidative stress parameters: total antioxidant capacity (TAC) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). Eighty-one random samples of T2DM patients (35 men and 46 women) were included in this study, their average age was 52.75±9.63 year. Current study found that FBG, HbA1C and IR were highly significant (P<0.01) inc

Objective: To determine the extent of COVID-19 knowledge among RA patients and their attitudes and perceptions of COVID-19 vaccines. Methods: A qualitative study with a phenomenology approach was performed through face-to-face, individual-based, semi-structured interviews in the Baghdad Teaching Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq, rheumatology unit. A convenient sample of RA patients using disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs was included until the point of saturation. A thematic content analysis approach was used to analyze the obtained data. Results: Twenty-five RA pa

Due to the effect of curing on properties and durability of concrete, the main purpose of this research is to study the effect of various curing methods (air curing, 7 days water curing, and permanent water curing) and porcelanite (local material used as an Internal Curing agent) with different replacement percentages of fine aggregate (volumetric replacement) on some properties of Roller-Compacted Concrete and to explore the possibility of introducing practical Roller-Compacted Concrete for road pavement with minimum requirement of curing. Methods Commercial pure titanium and zirconium oxide (zirconia) were coated with beta-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) using a long-pulse Nd:YAG laser (1,064 nm). Isolated bone marrow mesenchymal cells (BMMSCs) from rabbit tibia and femur, isolated PDL stem cells (PDLSCs) from the lower right incisor, and co-cultured BMMSCs and PDLSCs were tested for periostin markers using an immunofluorescent assay. Implants with 3D-engineered tissue were implanted into the lower right central incisors after extraction from rabbits. Forty implants (Ti or zirconia) were subdivided according to the duration of implantation (healing period: 45 o

The compounds have been characterized by different means such as FT-IR, UV-Vis, magnetic moment, elemental microanalyses (C.H.N), atomic absorption, and molar conductance. It is obvious when looking at the spectral study that the overall complexes obtained as monomeric structure as well as the metals center moieties are two-coordinated with octahedral geometry excepting Co complexes that existed as a tetrahedral geometry. Glaspell lived in the early twentieth century in the Midwest and tackled the important issues like: women's suffrage, birth control, socialism, union organizing when women were not able to vote or sit as a member on juries. Her Feminist cause is quite obvious through her works from her first one act play Suppressed Desire to the final three act play, Alison’s House. Th

In this research, the effects of canard dihedral angles on the wing loading of a forward-swept wing in transonic flow conditions were studied, as the wing loading provides a measure of wing’s efficiency (lift/drag). A generic aircraft model from literatures was selected, simulated, and compared to, using CFD software ANSYS/Fluent where the flow equations were solved to calculate the aerodynamic characteristics. The research was carried at two different Mach numbers, 0.6 and 0.9, for five different canard dihedral angles which tra
