In the present study, chalcone derivatives were synthesized via the Claisen-Schmidt condensation of 2-methyl acetanilide or 4-nitro acetanilide with p-dimethyl amino benzaldehyde in an ethanolic sodium hydroxide solution. The resulting chalcone reacted with urea or thiourea to produce several novel pyrimidine derivatives. All the synthesized compounds were characterized by FTIR, 1HNMR and 13CNMR spectroscopy. Before the synthesis process, molecular docking studies were performed to evaluate the potential of the synthesized molecules as drug candidates. Thus, molecular docking studies were performed using the CCDC GOLD suite (version 2025). The molecular docking results showed that the synthesized molecules had a noticeable affinity towards the inactive EGFR tyrosine kinase domain (PDB code: 4HJO), particularly towards molecule (A2) derivatives, which had a plp fitness (64.095) close to the reference ligand (erlitinib). The corrosion inhibition effect of A2 and A3 on the carbon steel corrosion in 3.5 % NaCl solution was studied at a temperature range of 298–328 K using electrochemical methods (potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)) at different concentrations of the inhibitors (100, 200 and 300 ppm). The results showed that the inhibitors reduced the dissolution of carbon steel, as evidenced by a decrease in the corrosion current densities. This effect can be attributed to the formation of an adsorbent layer formed of inhibitors (A2 and A3) on the surface of the metal, which protects it from attack by the acid medium. The IE % increased as the concentrations of inhibitors increased. The highest IE % value of 95.36 % was achieved with A2 at 300 ppm and 298 K. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and atomic force spectroscopy (AFM) were utilized to study the surface morphology and topography of carbon steel after 24 h of immersion in both uninhibited and inhibited saline solutions. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was utilized to demonstrate the adsorption of inhibitors on the carbon steel surface.

The MTX was converted to MTX nanoparticles by the modified method based on changing the pH gradually with exposure to ultrasound and shaking , changing the pH with exposure to ultrasound plays an significant role in the formation of nanoparticles, and this is shown in some previous studies. As the change in pH affects the nature of bonding between molecules, as well as the strength of bonding that depends on the change of electrical charges The exposure to ultrasound waves will greatly affect the breakdown of large particles into small particles that reach the level of nanoparticles. The MTX NPs formation was characterized by UV-Vis spectra analysis , Atomic force microscopy (AFM) analysis, Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fou

Show MoreThe Chemistry of heterocyclic sulphur and nitrogen containing compounds have a great role in the field of scientific studies, The 2-amino 5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole ring for instance, has gained more importance in recent years because they are considered as potent biologically active nucleus. In this study disulfide derivative can be obtained by oxidation with hydrogen peroxide of thiol group of the heterocyclic 2-amino 5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole ring to obtain compound (3) with expected antibacterial activity. In order to use it as a diazo component to prepare some new bis azo compounds as possible antibacterial agents, the reaction of two primary amino groups on both sides of disulfide dimer with sodium nitr

The prepared compounds were identified by several spectroscopic methods such as Infrared, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Electronic Spectra. From the results of the measurements, it was suggested that the prepared complexes have different geometries such as square planar (Cu), square pyramidal (VO) and octahedral (Cr). Therefore, it has become necessary to discover new compounds that work in this regard. The currently prepared Schiff base, derived from thiazole, has a biological activity against bacteria and biofilms and its activity increases when it is associated with copper, zinc and platinum ions and forms metal complexes. This study highlights the synthesis and evaluation of novel biological compounds as inhibitors of bacterial growth and biofilms. A three newly complexes are resulting from the reaction of a new Schiff base ligand (LC) with metal ions (Zn, Cu, Pt). The new ligand (LC)
