Objectives: to assess chronic diseases patients’ knowledge toward stroke risk factors and warning signs, besides
determining the relationship between chronic diseases patients’ knowledge and their sociodemographical
characteristics.
Methodology: A descriptive study was carried out at public medical clinics which has started from December
2
nd, 2008 to August 8th, 2009. A purposive "non-probability" sample of (300) chronic diseases individuals who
were clients of Public Medical Clinics who have one or more of the following chronic diseases (hypertension,
diabetes mellitus, heart diseases, and previous stroke), in Baghdad city. The data were collected through the use
of a constructed questionnaire which consists of three parts (1) Sociodemographic data form that consist 7-items
(2) Medical data form that consists of 10-items and (3) Main domains of the studied phenomena form consists of
3-sections (domains) of definition, warning sings, and risk factors of 62 items, by means of direct interview
technique with the chronic diseases patients. Descriptive statistical analysis procedures (frequency, percentage,
mean of scores, standard deviation, and relative sufficiency) and inferential statistical analysis procedures
(pearson correlation coefficient, contingency coefficient, Chi-square test, and Fisher exact probability test) were
used.
Results: The findings of the study indicated that there is a knowledge deficit of chronic diseases patients mainly
in stroke warning signs followed by stroke risk factors. No significant relationship was found between chronic
diseases patients’ knowledge and their gender, employment, while significant relationship was found between
chronic diseases patients’ knowledge and their age and level of education.
Recommendations: The study recommends that an intensive comprehensive, evidence-based obligatory wide
population-based health education programs are needed to improve awareness of stroke, especially among the
most vulnerable groups (chronic diseases patients), eldeely, and less educated persons as well as lay people.
Background: It is well known that oral carriage
of Candida species increase in many situations, like
obesity, debility, leukemia, viral infection, use of
certain drugs in addition to diabetes mellitus.
Objective: find the relation between diabetes and
its control on oral carriage of Candida.
Methods: Thirty four hundred oral swabs from
diabetic patients 67% are females and 33% are
males, 41.7% are type 1 diabetes and 58.3% are type

Results: we found that 37.9% of diabetics had oral
carriage, older age group had more but the
difference is not significant statistically P>0.05, in
addition females carry more Candida than males
P<0.05, while type of diabetes

Objectives: To reveal the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on otolaryngology symptoms using our daily medical practice.
Subject and Methods: A cross-sectional study that was carried on in the isolation wards at Al-Kindy and Al-Nu’man Teaching Hospitals during three months from the 1st of Jun. till the end of Aug. 2020. It included 1270 patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19 infection seen in the ENT consultation clinic and admitted to the isolation wards.

The fifth edition of the Arabic version of the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I) was used to identify the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual – fourth edition (DSM-IV) symptoms. Nocturnal enuresis (NE), defined as intermittent involuntary urine leakage during sleep, affects approximately 16% of children at age 5 and 10% at age 7, with prevalence declining with age. Aim. To evaluate the urodynamic features of patients with non-monosymptomatic nocturnal enuresis (NMNE). Methods. This cross-sectional study was conducted from June 2015 to September 2020 in a surgical subspecialty hospital within a major medical city complex, including 237 patients. Eligible patients were older than seven years, diagnosed with NMNE, and had refractory enuresis, defined as persistent symptoms despite at least six months of continuous medical treatment. All patients underwent a detailed history, bladder diary review, c

Objective: This study was designed to evaluate the effect of metformin in reducing TSH levels in patients with primary hypothyroidism.
Methods: Hundred patients with primary hypothyroidism, 82 females, 18 males were included in this study, everyone was followed up for two months after adding metformin 850 mg twice daily in addition to thyroxin.
Results: 36 patients (36%) have a normal baseline TSH and no change after 2 months, 64 pa

Specimens were collected during the time from Nov 2017 until Jan 2018 from Endocrine and Diabetes Center, blood samples were collected from fifty healthy control and one hundred patients, patients were divided into two groups consisted of (50) with hyperthyroidism and (50) with subclinical hyperthyroidism. Early-onset CAD, also known as PCAD, is a severe form of CAD associated with high mortality and a poor prognosis. Early diagnosis is crucial to reducing complications. While hsCRP is an established biomarker for CAD, kalirin is a potential novel biomarker due to its role in promoting smooth muscle proliferation and endothelial dysfunction. Objective: To evaluate the relationship between serum kalirin and hsCRP levels with the presence and severity of PCAD and to compare the diagnostic value of both biomarkers. Method: The study recruited 92 participants into two groups: the PCAD group (46) included patients with confirmed CAD by an

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is the most common cause of hypothyroidism with production of autoantibodies directed toward autoantigens thyroglobulin (Tg) and thyroid peroxidase (TPO). This study was carried out to determine and compare serum and salivary levels of thyroid antibodies (TPO-Ab and Tg- Ab) in hypothyroid patients (with and without periodontitis) and healthy control; as well as to estimate the possibility to evaluate and measured these antibodies in the saliva as measured in the serum. Serum and saliva samples were collected from sixty hypothyroid patients with age ranged (20-64) years (30 of patients were with periodontitis and 30 without per
