Nurses Performance in Pain Management for Burn Patient at Baghdad City’s General Hospitals
...Show More Authors

Abstract A descriptive study was carried out on nurses who were working at burn. Units in Baghdad city hospitals, Al-Kindy , Al-Yarmook, Al-Qadisiya, Al-karkh, and Al-Karama hospital, in the period from 20th july 2003 to 20th November 2003. The study aimed to identify the nurses performance about pain management for burned patients at burn units and find out the relationship between the demographic characteristics and performance . A purposive (non-probability) sample of (40) nurses, (24) male nurses and (16) female. The data were collected through the use of observational checklist, which comprised (38) items distributed on four parts. The validity and reliability of the instrument were determined through a pilot study and by exposing the data to a panel of experts in the field. The data were analyzed through the application of descriptive statistical analysis that includes frequency count, percentages and means, also used inferential statistical analysis that includes the means of scores, chi-square test. The results of the study showed that there was deficiency in nursing management presented by the nurses at burn units. There was significant difference between the performance and level of education. The results of the study showed that the nurses at burn units needs more training for pain management. The study concluded that those nurses should have institute level or more. The study recommended that it is better to develop and improve the nursing staff by continuous educational and training program cessions.

Effect of Operating Conditions on Reverse Osmosis (RO) Membrane Performance
...Show More Authors

The aim of this research is to study the effect of high concentrations of salts, pressure and temperature on the performance of the RO membrane with time. Four different (Na2CO3) concentrations (5000, 15000, 25000 and 35000) ppm and various pressures such as (1, 3 and 5) bars at different temperatures of the feed solution (i.e., 25, 35 and 45) ◦C were used in this work. It was found that, as the concentration of salt and feed temperatures increase, the rejection of the salt decrease. While the salt rejection of the membranes increases with increase of transmembrane pressure.

The impact of computerized planning on audit performance (Proposed model)
...Show More Authors

The development of technology used in computerized programs is considered on of the most important topics that is responsible for creating tools that can be used in the business environment, the audit profession is one of those professions that received this development. In order for this profession to be more effective, there must be a tool based on sound (correct) scientific basis that can be based upon to enhance the quality of auditing. The research also aims to propose a computerized program to plan the auditing process according to the methods appropriate to the working environment in the audit offices and companies in Iraq. The computerized program was applied to the research sample and the hypothesis of the research has been prov

The Optimum Reservoir Performance of Nahr Umr/Ratawi Oil Field
...Show More Authors

Reservoir study has been developed in order to get a full interesting of the Nahr Umr formation in Ratawi oil field. Oil in place has been calculated for Nahr Umr which was 2981.37 MM BBL. Several runs have been performed to get matching between measured and calculated of oil production data and well test pressure. In order to get the optimum performance of Nahr Umr many strategies have been proposed in this study where vertical and horizontal wells were involved in addition to different production rates. The reservoir was first assumed to be developed with vertical wells only using production rate of (80000–125000) STB/day. The reservoir is also proposed to produce using horizontal wells besides vertical wells with production rat

Performance Comparison between Recycled Single Stage and Double Stage Hydrocyclones
...Show More Authors

This research presents a comparison of performance between recycled single stage and double stage hydrocyclones in separating water from water/kerosene emulsion. The comparison included several factors such as: inlet flow rate (3,5,7,9, and 11 L/min), water feed concentration (5% and 15% by volume), and split ratio (0.1 and 0.9). The comparison extended to include the recycle operation; once and twice recycles. The results showed that increasing flow rate as well as the split ratio enhancing the separation efficiency for the two modes of operation. On the contrary, reducing the feed concentration gave high efficiencies for the modes. The operation with two cycles was more efficient than one cycle. The maximum obtained effici

Enhancing the Performance of Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters Using Permanent Magnets
...Show More Authors

A cantilevered piezoelectric beam with a tip mass at its free end is a common energy harvester configuration. This paper introduces a new principle of designing such a harvester which increases the generated voltage without changing the natural frequency of the harvester: The attraction force between two permanent magnets is used to add stiffness to the system. This magnetic stiffening counters the effect of the tip mass on the natural frequency. Three setups incorporating piezoelectric bimorph cantilevers of the same type in different mechanical configurations are compared theoretically and experimentally to investigate the feasibility of this principle. Theoretical and experimental results show that magnetically stiffe

Thermal performance of different solar distillators under Iraq climate condition
...Show More Authors

In this work, a novel single-slope solar distillator of floating perforated absorber inserted with wicks (cotton ribbons), and a stepped distillator are designed and manufactured with the aim of developing the conventional distillator. They are examined experimentally at Baghdad, Iraq (33.3°N Latitude, 44.4°E Longitude) in order to enhance the freshwater productivity and the efficiency of the conventional distillator. Results showed that the daily productivity and efficiency of the stepped distillator are higher than that for conventional solar distillator by 30% and 36.19% respectively. The daily productivity and thermal efficiency for the distillator with the floating absorber are higher than that for the conventional distillator by 16%

Performance of humidity sensor based on photonic crystal fiber interferometer
...Show More Authors

Photonic Crystal Fiber Interferometers (PCFIs) are greatly used
for sensing applications. This work presents the fabrication and
characterization of a relative humidity sensor based on Mach-
Zehnder Interferometer (MZI), which operates in reflection mode.
The humidity sensor operation based on the adsorption and
desorption of water vapour at the silica-air interface within the PCF.
The fabrication of this sensor is simple, it only includes splicing and
cleaving the PCF with SMF.PCF (LMA-10) with a certain length
spliced to SMF (Corning-28).
The spectrum of PCFI exhibits good sensitivity to humidity
variations. The PCFI response is observed for a range of humidity
values from (27% RH to 85% RH), the positi

Analytical Performance Modeling of InP-InGaAs Hetero-junction Avalanche Photodiode
...Show More Authors

In this study, an analytical model depending on experimental results for InPInGaAs
avalanche photodiode at low bias was presented and the characteristics of
gain for this photodiode were determined directly by the impulse response. The
model have considered the most important mechanisms contributing the
photocurrent, they are trapping, photogeneration in the undepleted region and
charge-carriers velocity due to the built-in electrical field. Also, the bandwidth
was determined as a function to the total gain of photodiode and it was mainly
determined by diffusion and trapping processes at low gain regarding to the multilayer
structure considered in this study
