Burden of Mothers’ Care for Children with Colostomy at Baghdad Medical City Teaching Hospital
...Show More Authors

Objective(s): To assess the burden of mothers` care for child with colostomy and find out relationships between child and mother socio-demographic data with mothers` burden. Methodology: a descriptive study was conducted from 1 August 2013 to 1 September 2014. The sample consisted of 100 children and their mothers at Baghdad Teaching hospital in Baghdad city. A questionnaire was prepared based on the previous literature review, meeting mothers of children with colostomy, and the Zarit Burden Interview scale. Data has collected through the application of questionnaire and interview techniques. Results: The data shows that mothers suffer from moderate burden socially, psychologically, financially, and overall burden of care. More than one third of mothers are within 38-40 years old, illiterate, with four children. Majority of them are unemployed and visit their children’s physicians regularly. More than half of families have somewhat sufficient monthly income and their child within 1-4 years old. Most of children are male and suffer from skin excoriation as complication. In addition, numbers of children in the family, physician’s follow-up, and mothers` age effects on mothers` social burden. Child’s age negatively correlates with financial burden. Ultimately, mothers’ age and their level of education, and family monthly income effect on mothers` psychological burden. Recommendations: mothers of child with colostomy experience a multitude of emotions and changes in their lives, often carrying caregiving burden. They become the experts on their child’s care and should be empowered and supported in their efforts. The level of mothers’ education should be increase and awareness about family planning.

The present study aims to give some details about the normal anatomical and histological structure of the liver, pancreas and gall bladder in Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758 and Mesopotamichthys sharpeyi (Günther, 1874). Anatomical results revealed that the liver of C. carpio is a reddish-brown in color, located in the anterior part of abdominal cavity and dispersed between most of the intestines, which is divided into two lobes; while in M. sharpeyi the liver is light brown in color located in the anterior part of abdominal cavity and extends to the end of the intestinal tract with two lobs. The gallbladder situated in the right side of the liver in both species. Histological results in both species showed that the liver consists

Violet Laser Irradiation Effect on The Optical Properties of Cobalt oxide (CoO2) Thin Films deposited via Semi-Computerized Spraying System
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>The existing investigation explains the consequence of irradiation of violet laser on the optic properties of (CoO2) films. The film was equipped by the utilization of semi-computerized spray pyrolysis technique (SCSPT), it is the first time that this technique is used in the preparation and irradiation using a laser in this technique. From the XRD analysis, the crystalline existence with trigonal crystal system was when the received films were processed by continuous violet laser (405 nm) with power (1W) for different laser irradiation time using different number of times a laser scan (0, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 times) with total irradiation time(0,30,45,60,75,90 min</p> ... Preferences of the Iraqi Public towards Arab News Channels Programs and Materials (Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, Al Ekhbariya Satellite Channels: a field Study)
...Show More Authors

Broadcasting across satellites has become an important media phenomenon and largely available for watchers. As the receiver can see the events at the very moment and at any spot in the world. This study aims to discover the degree of the extent of exposure of Iraqi people to the news broadcasting satellites in Arabic language, (Al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, Al Ekhbariya Satellite Channels) as one of the media that serves the public; and to discover the range of these Satellite Channels in covering the local Iraqi situation in different sides and aspects; and to know the significance of the Iraqi people in watching those news programmers; and state the motives behind the Iraqi public's dependence on these channels.

Investigating the antibacterial effect of German chamomile flower extract as a root canal irrigation solution against Enterococcus faecalis biofilm: An in vitro study
...Show More Authors

Background: Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis) is a prototypical resistant bacterium in root canal infections and a leading cause of endodontic treatment failure. German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) flower extract has been used as a traditional medicine to treat infections. The aim of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial efficacy of chamomile extract on the removal of E. faecalis root canal biofilm. Materials and Methods: Chamomile flower extract was prepared and subjected to detailed chemical analysis. For the in vitro biofilm model, human mandibular premolars (n=48) with 18-20mm working length were used. Root canal preparation was performed using the ProTaper® Next system. Each sample was split longitudinally and reassem

Transient expression of cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) P6-GFP complements a defective CaMV replicon to facilitate viral gene expression, replication and virion formation
...Show More Authors

Over the past decades, several studies have examined the subcellular localization of the cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) P6 protein by tagging it with GFP (P6-GFP). These investigations have been essential in the development of models for inclusion body formation, nuclear transport, and microfilament-associated intracellular movement of P6 inclusion bodies for delivery of virions to plasmodesmata. Although it was shown early on that the translational transactivation function of P6-GFP was comparable to wild type P6, it has not been possible to incorporate a P6-GFP gene into an infectious clone of CaMV. Consequently, it has not been possible to formally prove that a P6-GFP fusion is comparable in function to the unmodified P6 protein. Here w

Drinking water quality evaluation of hand pumping wells using water quality index and standard algal toxicity testing in Mansoura and Talkha cities, Egypt
...Show More Authors

Six house-hold Abyssinian pumps distributed in different villages of Mansoura (Mans-I, Mans-II and Mans-III) and Talkha (Talk-I, Talk-II and Talk-III) cities, Egypt, have been selected for regular seasonal water quality assessment during 2017. Water samples have been collected within the mid-periods of four seasons Standard assessment tools were employed for the integrated water quality assessment including Water Quality Index (WQI) and ISO standard algal toxicity test. WQI displayed remarkable local and seasonal variations with excellent (≥ 90) and good (70 - 89) only recorded for water samples collected from Mans-I pump located in sparsely populated area and far 50 meters only from the eastern (Damietta) branch of Nile River. WQI of
