Eighty five samples were taken from patients suffering from pneumonia. Seventy-eight isolates were diagnosed as following: Staphylococcus aureus (23), klebsiella pneumoniae (29), Streptococcus pneumoniae (15), Serratia sp. (4), Haemophilus influenzae (4) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (3). The clinical isolates were tested for antibiotics sensitivity. They appeared highly resistance to penicillin G and Ampicillin at percentage 89.7 and 84.6% respectly while the results showed highly sensitivity to streptomycin at percentege of (12.8%). A simple, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been proposed for the determination of La (III) using 3-hydroxy -4-(2-hydroxy-phenyl azo) naphthalene -1- sulfonic acid as a chromogenic reagent. This method is based on the formation of a red-pink colored complex, upon the reaction of La(III) with the reagent in an alkaline medium (pH= 9.50), having a maximum absorbance at 459 nm. Beer's law is valid in the concentration range 0.512 µg.ml-1 with a Sandell's sensitivity value of 0.0188 µg.cm-2 and molar absorptivity of 7376.12 L.mol-1.cm-1. This study focused on the role and importance of alkaloid compounds in Punica granatum peels which is one of many wide distribution medicinal fruits. Two kinds of pathogenic fungi were isolated from patients in Baghdad to be tested, also a type of extracts was prepared, alkaloids were isolated and partially purified and detected by two ways, a classic depended technique also used for determine these alkaloids, results showed an observed differences among extracts or treatments towards the fungi samples. So this study was one of the scientific applications to find natural alternative compounds that inhibit the growth of several pathogenic organisms that cause dangers and harms for human health.
