D-shape Optical Fiber Development and Enhancement as a Refractive Indices Sensor Using Surface Plasmon Resonance
...Show More Authors

This article showcases the development and utilization of a side-polished fiber optic sensor that can identify altered refractive index levels within a glucose solution through the investigation of the surface Plasmon resonance (SPR) effect. The aim was to enhance efficiency by means of the placement of a 50 nm-thick layer of gold at the D-shape fiber sensing area. The detector was fabricated by utilizing a silica optical fiber (SOF), which underwent a cladding stripping process that resulted in three distinct lengths, followed by a polishing method to remove a portion of the fiber diameter and produce a cross-sectional D-shape. During experimentation with glucose solution, the side-polished fiber optic sensor revealed an adept detection sensitivity of 0.2015 au. /RIU. In order to improve sensitivity, a recent sensor was subjected to a coating process utilizing a thin film layer of gold (Au) measuring a thickness of 50 nm. The sensor was subsequently subjected to a series of tests utilizing the same glucose solutions as in previous experiments. A notable enhancement in sensitivity was observed when utilizing gold as the sensing material, with an equivalent maximum sensitivity of 3.101 au. /RIU.

Static Performance Characteristics Of Vortex Rate Sensor
...Show More Authors

The vortex rate sensor is a fluidic gyroscope with no moving parts and can be used in very difficult conditions like radiation, high temperature and noise with minimum cost of manufacturing and maintenance. A vortex rate sensor made of wood has been designed and manufactured to study theoretically and experimentally its static performance .A rig has been built to carry out the study,
the test carried out with three different air flow rates (100, 150, and 200 l/min).The results show that the relation between the differential pressure taken from the sensor pickoff points and the angular velocity of the sensor was linear. The present work involved theoretical and experimental study of vortex rate sensor static characteristics .Vortex rat

Laser Peening on Aluminum Alloy 7049 Using Black Paint Surface Coating
...Show More Authors

Abstract

Black paint laser peening (bPLP) technique is currently applied for many engineering materials , especially for aluminum alloys due to high improvement in fatigue life and strength . Constant and variable bending fatigue tests have been performed at RT and stress ratio R= -1 . The results of the present work observed that the significance of the surface work hardening which generated high negative residual stresses in bPLP specimens .The fatigue life improvement factor (FLIF) for bPLP constant fatigue behavior was from 2.543 to 3.3 compared to untreated fatigue and the increase in fatigue strength at 107 cycle was 21% . The bPLP cumulative fatigue life behav

Abstract
Using remote sensing technology and modeling methodologies to monitor changes in land surface temperature (LST) and urban heat islands (UHI) has become an essential reference for making decisions on sustainable land use. This study estimates LST and UHI in Salah al-din Province to contribute to land management, Urban planning, or climate resilience in the region; as a result of environmental changes in recent years, LANDSAT Satellite Imagery from 2014- 2024 was implemented to estimate the LST and UHI indexes in Salah al-din Province, ArcGIS 10.7 was use to calculate the indices, and The normalized mean vegetation index (NDVI) was calculated as it is closely related to extracting (LST
... Evaluating Electrocoagulation Process for Water Treatment Efficiency Using Response Surface Methodology
...Show More Authors

The electrocoagulation process became one of the most important technologies used for water treatment processes in the last few years. It’s the preferred method to remove suspended solids and heavy metals from water for treating drinking water and wastewater from textile, diary, and electroplating factories. This research aims to study the effect of using the electrocoagulation process with aluminum electrodes on the removal efficiency of suspended solids and turbidity presented in raw water and optimizing by the response surface methodology (RSM). The most important variables studied in this research included electrode spacing, the applied voltage, and the operating time of the electrocoagulation process. The samples

Good cleavers for fiber-optic communication technology
...Show More Authors

Fiber optics technology has shown immense applications in the areas of medicine, telecommunication, and imaging. For these particular applications, it requires fibers with precise cleaving. In this paper, we will demonstrate a quick, simple and efficient cleaving method that can result in a high-quality fiber surface that works well for many fiber-optic applications. The smooth tip and good surface quality obtained on the cleaved surface of optical fiber is demonstrated by using a microscope imaging system and was flat surface with a 900 angle for perpendicular cleavages. The precision cleaver provides smooth and high-quality cleaves on single-fiber surfaces as opposed to the ruby scribe pen. The defects that may occur during the cleaving p

Using Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems to Study the Change Detection in Temperature and Surface Area of Hamrin Lake
...Show More Authors

This study was conducted on Lake Hamrin situated in Diyala governorate, focal Iraq, between latitudes 44º 53ʹ 26.16 '- 45º 07 ʹ 28.03ʺ and 34º 04ʹ 24.75ʺ ــ 34º 19ʹ 12.74ʺ . As in this study, the surface area of Hamrin Lake was calculated from satellite images during the period from October 2019 to September 2020, with an average satellite image for each month, furthermore,by utilizing the Normalized Differences Water Index (NDWI), the largest surface area was 264,617 km2 for October and the lowest surface area 140.202 km2 for September. The surface temperature of the lake water was also calculated from satellite images of the Landsat 8 satellite, based on ban

Sculptured Surface Design and Implementation by Lofting Design Method Using Cross-sectional B-Spline Curves
...Show More Authors

This research presents a particular designing strategy for a free form of surfaces, constructed by the lofting design method. The regarded surfaces were created by sliding a B-spline curves (profile curves), in addition to describing an automatic procedure for selective identification of sampling points in reverse engineering applications using Coordinate Measurement Machine. Two models have been implemented from (Ureol material) to represent the different cases of B-spline types to clarify its scope of application. The interior data of the desired surfaces was designed by MATLAB software, which then were transformed to UG-NX9 software for connecting the sections that were designed in MATLAB program and obtaining G-code programs for the
