Expanded use of antibiotics may increase the ability of pathogenic bacteria to develop antimicrobial resistance. Greater attention must be paid to applying more sustainable techniques for treating wastewater contaminated with antibiotics. Semiconductor photocatalytic processes have proven to be the most effective methods for the degradation of antibiotics. Thus, constructing durable and highly active photocatalytic hybrid materials for the photodegradation of antibiotic pollutants is challenging. Herein, FeTiO3/Fe-doped g-C3N4 (FTO/FCN) heterojunctions were designed with different FTO to FCN ratios by matching the energy level of semiconductors, thereby developing effective direct Z-type heterojunctions. The photodegradation behaviors of the FTO/FCN hybrids were systematically explored toward spiramycin (SPY) destruction under visible-irradiation. Using the FTO/FCN (1:2) photocatalyst, the photodegradation efficiency of the bare FTO boosted from 41.6 % to 96.6 %, which was due to suitable band positions of both photocatalysts and thus Z-type heterojunction transfer pathway to prevent the recombination of photo-charge carriers. More importantly, the FTO/FCN hybrid photocatalysts show broad applicability, as they can decompose other organic contaminants including ibuprofen (IBU), ciprofloxacin (CIP), bisphenol A (BPA), and Rhodamine B (RhB). The photodegradation rates of IBU, CIP, BPA and RhB were 90.9 %, 93.4 %, 80.6 %, and 86.2 %, respectively, after 120 min. The trapping analyses were performed and exhibited that the key reactive-species in the SPY photodegradation were •O2 and h+, while •OH and electrons were secondary species in the reaction. The FTO/FCN composite photocatalyst has the properties of high photo-stability and recycling (the SPY photodegradation and mineralization efficiencies decreased only by 4 % and 5.2 %, respectively).
Solar collectors, in general, are utilized to convert the solar energy into heat energy, where it is employed to generate electricity. The non-concentrating solar collector with a circular shape was adopted in the present study. Ambient air is heated under a translucent roof where buoyant air is drawn from outside periphery towards the collector center (tower base). The present study is aimed to predict and visualize the thermal-hydrodynamic behavior for airflow under inclined roof of the solar air collector, SAC. Three-dimensional of the SAC model using the re-normalization group, RNG, k−ε turbulence viscus model is simulated. The simulation was carried out by using ANSYS-FLUENT 14.5. The simulation

Rubber tires are non-biodegradable, resulting in environmental problems such as fire risks. In this search, the flexural behavior of steel fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete (SFRSCC) beams containing different percentages and sizes of waste tire rubbers were studied and compared them with the flexural behavior of SCC and SFRSCC. Micro steel fiber (straight type) with aspect ratio 65 was used in mixes. The replacement of coarse and fine aggregate was 20% and 10% with chip and crumb rubber. Also, the replacement of limestone dust and silica fume was 50%, 25%, and 12% with ground rubbe

Show MoreThe construction of embankment for roadway interchange system at urban area is restricted due to the large geometry requirements, since the value of land required for such construction is high, and the area available is limited as compared to rural area. One of the optimum solutions to such problem is the earth reinforcement technique which requires a limited area for embankment construction. Gypseous soil from Al-Anbar governorate area was obtained and subjected to various physical and chemical analysis to determine it is properties. A laboratory model box of 50x50x25 cm was used as a representative embankment; soil has been compacted in five layers at maximum dry density (modified compaction) and an aluminum reinforcement strips were i

The NH2-MIL-101(Fe) MOF/Pd NPs/SPE electrochemical sensor shows a significant enhancement in the response peak current of NEPI, as compared to bare SPE. This suggests that the unique features of NH2-MIL-101(Fe) MOF/Pd NPs composite-modified SPE improve the electrocatalytic oxidation of NEPI. Such a synergistic effect between NH2-MIL-101(Fe) MOF and Pd NPs results in a significant enhancement in the response, where the MOF's high surface area co

The prepared ZnO nanorods exhibit a hexagonal wurtzite phase analyzed by the X-ray diffraction analysis. The FTIR spectra provide information that the band located between 465-570 cm-1 corresponds to the stretching bond of Zn-O, which confirms the creation of ZnO. PL spectroscopic studies showed that the doping of Ag NPs and f-MWCNT in the ZnO matrix leads to the tuning of the bandgap. The SEM analysis showed the morphology of ZnO was the nanorods. To achieve this, the researcher followed the descriptive analytical approach by applying a questionnaire of two parts. The first part dealt with the ethical perception according to the scale of Johnson (2015), which consisted of (22) items. The second part dealt with measuring responsible behavior, which consisted of (20) items based on the scale of Development of Ethical Behavior (Narvaez, 2006) for a sample of (125) respondents randomly chosen. The results showed that the estimation degree of managers in public governmental o

Seven beam specimens, with dimensions of 200×100×1000 mm, were fabricated. The variables were considered including; the location and configuration of the joints. One beam was cast without a joint (Reference specimen), two specimens were fabricated with a one horizontal joint located either at tension, or compression zone. The fourth
beam had two horizontal joints placed at tension, and compression area. The remaining specimens were with one or two inclined joints positioned at the shear span or beam’s mid-span. The specimens were subjected to a monotonic central concentrated loading until the failure. T
