Evaluation and production of predictive maps on the impact of climate factors on the the land cover for the Baghdad city for the period (1999-2021)
...Show More Authors

The general objective of the research is to better understand changes in land cover and their impact on climatic factors by measuring changes in land cover for the Baghdad city for the period 1999-2021 and evaluating changes in land cover and measuring changes in climatic factors (relative humidity and evaporation). This study from 1999 to 2021 and in two different seasons: the April of the growing season and August the dry season. When using the supervised classification method to determine the differences, the results showed remarkable changes, the study showed the spatial variations in LC from 1999 to 2021 as follows: increase in the vegetation and water bodies during April and decrease this in August while the soil and built up decrease in April and increase this in August. As for the influence of climatic factors, an increase in relative humidity during 1999 and 2021 for April, while it decreased during the years 1999 and 2021 for August. While evaporation decreases during 1999 and 2021 for April and increases during 1999 and 2021 for August

Strain specificity in antimicrobial activity of non-thermal plasma
...Show More Authors

Non-thermal (low-temperature) plasma may act as an alternative approach to control superficial wound and skin infections when the effectiveness of chemical agents is weak due to natural pathogen or biofilm resistance. In this paper an atmospheric pressure plasma needle jet device which generates a cold plasma jet is used to measure the effectiveness of plasma treatment against different pathogenic bacteria and to test the individual susceptibility of pathogenic bacteria to non-thermal argon plasma. It is found that, Gram-negative bacteria were more susceptible to plasma treatment than Gram-positive bacteria. For the Gram-negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, there were no survivors among the initial 1x108C.F.U (Co

Force degradation of orthodontic elastomeric chains: A literature review
...Show More Authors

Background: Elastomeric chains are used to generate force in many orthodontic procedures, but this force decays over time, which could affect tooth movement. This study aimed to study the force degradation of elastomeric chains. Data and Sources: An electronic search on Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), MEDLINE, LILACS, and PubMed was made, only articles written in English were included, up to January 2022.Study selection: Fifty original articles, systematic reviews, and RCTs were selected. Conclusion: Tooth movement, salivary enzymes, alcohol-containing mouthwash, whitening mouthwash, and alkaline and strong acidic (pH <5.4) solutions all have a significant impact on elastomeric chain force degradation. The fo

Separation of oil/water emulsions by microbubble air flotation
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Oil/water emulsions are one of the major threats to environment nowadays, occurs at many stages in the production and treatment of crude oil. The oil recovery process adopted will depend on how the oil is present in the water stream. Oil can be found as free oil, as an unstable oil/water emulsion and also as a highly stable oil/water emulsion. The current study was dedicated to the application of microbubble air flotation process for the removal of such oily emulsions for its characters of cost-effective, simple structure, high efficiency and no secondary pollution. The influence of several key parameters on the process removal efficiency was examined, namely, initial oil concentration, pH value of t
... Show More

Evaluating Implementation of Electric Power Generation Projects in Iraq
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Iraq has witnessed development in many fields and the electricity production sector is one of the most important of these fields. This is attributed to the State’s philosophy in supporting this sector through the development of economic development projects to serve and raise the level of the Iraqi individual. Electricity production in Iraq is affected by many variables such as load growth, economic and financial conditions, planning, etc. All these led to a disparity in the production of electric power to cover the demand for energy. The paper deals with the electricity generation sector overview in Iraq, Analysis of the effects of variables on the implementation of power generatio
... Show More

Pharmacological aspects of Borago officinalis (Borage): A review article
...Show More Authors

Abstract:

Borago officinalis is highly interesting amongst nutritional and medical source relate to its high composition of some useful phytochemical compound. It is great plants with bright blue star-shaped flowers present in most world regions and usually known as borage. The Borago phytochemical analysis showed the presence of alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, phenolic acids, essential oil, vitamins and others. Borage is cultivated all over the world and used in traditional medicine as a demulcent, diuretic, emollient, tonic, expectorant, for the treatment of coughs, inflammation and swelling, and other diseases. In herbal medicine, Borage seed oil (BSO) has been utilized for many progressive illnesse

Physical Properties of Cu Doped ZnO Nanocrystiline Thin Films
...Show More Authors

Thin films of ZnO nano crystalline doped with different concentrations (0, 6, 9, 12, and 18 )wt. % of copper were deposited on a glass substrate via pulsed laser deposition method (PLD). The properties of ZnO: Cu thin-nanofilms have been studied by absorbing UV-VIS, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopes (AFM). UV-VIS spectroscopy was used to determine the type and value of the optical energy gap, while X-ray diffraction was used to examine the structure and determine the size of the crystals. Atomic force microscopes were used to study the surface formation of precipitated materials. The UV-VIS spectroscopy was used to determine the type and value of the optical energy gap.

Improvement of Diesel Fuel Engine Performance by Nanoparticles Additives
...Show More Authors

This study was done to investigate the impact of different nanoparticles on diesel fuel characteristics, Iraqi diesel fuel was supplied from al-Dura refinery and was treated to enhance performance by improving its characteristics. Two types of nanoparticles were mixed with Iraqi diesel fuel at various weight fractions of 30, 60, 90, and 120 ppm. The diesel engine was tested and run at a constant speed of 1600 rpm to examine and evaluate the engine's performance and determine emissions. In general, ZnO additives' performance analysis showed they are more efficient for diesel fuel engines than CeO. The performance of engine diesel fuel tests showed that the weight fraction of nanoparticles at 90 and 120 ppm give a similar performance,

Gas Chr Gas Chromatographic Separ aphic Separation of Phenol Deriv ation of Phenol Derivatives by Schiff- y SchiffBase Liquid Crystalline Stationary Phases
...Show More Authors

The chromatographic behaviour of liquid crystalline compounds benzylidene-p-aminobenzoic acid and 4-(p-methyl benzylidene)-p-aminobenzoic acid as stationary phases for the separation of dimethylphenol isomers was investigated. These isomers were analysed on benzylidene-p-aminobenzoic acid within a nematic range of 169-194 ◦C with a temperature interval of 5 ◦C. Better peak resolution was at a column temperature of 190 ◦C. The analysis was repeated on a 4-(p-methyl benzylidene)-p-aminobenzoic acid column at a nematic temperature of 256 ◦C, which represented the end of the nematic range, and gave the optimum peak resolution. It was found that isomer better separation was obtained at 20% loading for both liquid crystal materials. Other
