Happy City strategy, satisfying individuals' needs by sustainable urban design (Zurich and Dubai as models)
...Show More Authors

Well-being and prosperous living are among the most significant goals of sustainable development, and development strategies should be directed toward satisfying individuals’ needs and living in happy cities. The research explores the potential for establishing a comprehensive strategy by examining different approaches to urban planning and their impact on individuals’ happiness. The research problem is the absence of a clear, standardized vision for developing cities that satisfy individuals’ needs and promote happiness. The hypothesis suggests exploring urban development strategies for the happiest cities in the world to satisfy individuals’ needs and promote happiness. Relying on the concept of the happy city, sustainability, and individuals’ needs and examining the success of Zurich and Dubai cities, the research aims to explore urban elements within cities that satisfy individuals’ needs and promote happiness and seeks to develop a comprehensive framework for a happy city strategy that can be applied to promote happiness for Iraqi cities using measurable indicators to assess their achievement levels and improve urban well-being. Using a descriptive-analytical and comparative approach, the findings show that sustainable urban design can positively impact individuals’ happiness by satisfying their needs and presents a comprehensive, actionable strategy to develop cities towards happiness relying on built and natural environmental elements that promote sustainable developments and happiness, which are crucial for the practical application of these findings.

Systematic Design of Short-Span Segmental Beams Reinforced by CFRP Plates
...Show More Authors

The main objective of this study is to introduce a systematic design procedure for short-span segmental beams following a sophisticated ACI 440.2R-17 design procedure. The general aspects of innovative short-span segmental beams are easy to fabricate, economical and rapidly placed in pre-specified positions. Short-span segmental beams fabricated from individual precast plain-concrete blocks and CFRP plates. Recently, experimental tests performed on short-span segmental beams, by the authors, investigated CFRP plate-bonding, CFRP plate cross-sectional area, the thickness of plate-bonding epoxy resin, surface-to-surface condition of concrete blocks, as well as, interface condition of the bonding surface. The experimental program comprises tes

Design of Two-Layer Roller Compacted Concrete with Joints by KENSLAB
...Show More Authors

Roller compacted concrete (RCC) is a type of rigid pavement that is designed in a similar way to conventional concrete pavements reflecting its mode of failure. The thickness design of RCC pavements is based on keeping the flexural stresses and fatigue damage in the pavement caused by wheel loads within allowable limits. As in all jointed concrete pavements, there is a greater effect from loads placed along edges and less at interior locations in the pavement. Joints in RCC pavement are clearly critical areas and form weak points. RCC is typically constructed with saw-cut joints to prevent random cracking, improve the appearance of the pavement surface, and maintain the highest possible load transfer across the joints. Competitive advantage is a substantial  strategic objective for organizations. It requires high levels in the quality of products and services provided to customers, continuous improvement of costing , care for creativity and innovative employees, and speed unique to the marketing and financial engineering, and business re-engineering processes. The situation in this area, requires actors to attract and develop human resources, including help in proper implementation of the strategic tasks that targeted by those institutions. According to the opinions and viewpoints of management scholars, the competitive advantage resource is the most important issue for organizations in the third millennium, which can be a

Pascal's triangle graded mean defuzzification approach for solving fuzzy assignment models by using pentagonal fuzzy numbers
...Show More Authors

The fuzzy assignment models (FAMs) have been explored by various literature to access classical values, which are more precise in our real-life accomplishment. The novelty of this paper contributed positively to a unique application of pentagonal fuzzy numbers for the evaluation of FAMs. The new method namely Pascal's triangle graded mean (PT-GM) has presented a new algorithm in accessing the critical path to solve the assignment problems (AP) based on the fuzzy objective function of minimising total cost. The results obtained have been compared to the existing methods such as, the centroid formula (CF) and centroid formula integration (CFI). It has been demonstrated that operational efficiency of this conducted method is exquisitely develo

Stiffness Characteristics of Pile Models for Cement Improving Sandy Soil by Low-Pressure Injection Laboratory Setup
...Show More Authors

Soil improvement has developed as a realistic solution for enhancing soil properties so that structures can be constructed to meet project engineering requirements due to the limited availability of construction land in urban centers. The jet grouting method for soil improvement is a novel geotechnical alternative for problematic soils for which conventional foundation designs cannot provide acceptable and lasting solutions. The paper's methodology was based on constructing pile models using a low-pressure injection laboratory setup built and made locally to simulate the operation of field equipment. The setup design was based on previous research that systematically conducted unconfined compression testing (U.C.Ts.). Th

Design an Efficient Neural Network to Determine the Rate of Contamination in the Tigris River in Baghdad City
...Show More Authors

This article proposes a new technique for determining the rate of contamination. First, a generative adversarial neural network (ANN) parallel processing technique is constructed and trained using real and secret images. Then, after the model is stabilized, the real image is passed to the generator. Finally, the generator creates an image that is visually similar to the secret image, thus achieving the same effect as the secret image transmission. Experimental results show that this technique has a good effect on the security of secret information transmission and increases the capacity of information hiding. The metric signal of noise, a structural similarity index measure, was used to determine the success of colour image-hiding t

Abstract<p>The present study aims at assessing the status of heavy metals such as nickel, cadmium and lead to pollute some areas of Baghdad city. In this study the spectral absorption device and the program ArcGIS 10.2 will using. The soil samples were taken from five different locations in Baghdad, including Ameriya, Kadhimiya, Palestine Street, Jadiriyah and Taji for the 5cm depth layer on both sides of the road. This work on soil samples has been completed in two :phases 1 - Preparation of samples: For the purpose of converting solid material into a extract containing elements in the form of single ions can be estimated by the device 2-Determination of elements: Samples prepared to the device</p> ... Electrosorption of Hexavalent Chromium Ions by MnO2/Carbon Fiber Composite Electrode: Analysis and Optimization of the Process by Box-Behnken Design
...Show More Authors

A nano manganese dioxide (MnO2) was electrodeposited galvanostatically onto a carbon fiber (CF) surface using the simple method of anodic electrodeposition. The composite electrode was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Very few studies investigated the efficiency of this electrode for heavy metals removal, especially chromium. The electrosorption properties of the nano MnO2/CF electrode were examined by removing Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solutions. NaCl concentration, pH, and cell voltage were studied and optimized using the Box-Behnken design (BDD) to investigate their effects and interactions on the electrosorption process. The results showed that the
